Simply put, this is a 100F incubator. It works just as expected with one catch: You MUST set your time on the dial BEFORE you press the "on" button (per instructions). For example, if you set it to 4 hours and press the start button, you're locked into 4 hours no matter what you turn the dial to. To choose a new time, just unplug it, choose your new time, plug it back in, and press start again.
So far, the best recipe is bring to 185F, cool to 110F, add culture, and incubate for 7 hours. I prefer 2% or whole milk. Let gel in the fridge overnight and add a big blop of your favorite fruit preserves. The included flavoring is pretty gross - just toss it.

I really like the idea of making my own yogurt at home and this machine is great for doing just that. I ended up buying yogurt starter because I could not get the yogurt to set when I used the included recipes. I would recommend using a digital thermometer when cooking the mixture.

I have been looking at buying a yogurt maker for a while. It is easy and fun to use. The only downside is the cost of the mixes.

I wanted to love this yogurt maker, but I did not.
It cooked really hot.
At the end of the cook time, the jars were very hot to the touch and the yogurt was ruined.
The timer shut it off at the 2 hour mark, but did not shut it off at the 10 hour mark once I re-set it.
The jars and lids are very nice. The jars are heavy glass.
I am returning this unit.
