I watched this movie 3 times in order to catch every nuance of each argument presented by Intelligent Design and Darwinian proponents. Ben Stein left no stone unturned, and even seemed like a benevolent Devil's Advocate, if such a thing isn't an oxymoron. Ben Stein is a very intelligent soul himself, and everyone with whom he spoke was an expert in his/her field. The American gentleman in Paris appeared to be a genius. Pay close attention to the ease with which he transitions between metaphysics, scientific and mathematical analysis of Darwinian concepts, etc. When Stein asked him what he taught at one of many prestigious universities and colleges, the gentleman replied, "Anything they wanted." After listening to him, I'll bet he could teach anything. We heard from people who gave up God to devote their lives to Darwinian Evolution, and those who gave up evolution to believe in God. Both sides came to different conclusions based on observing the same world through science. The discussion of a "world view" being a premise to scientific study outcomes was discussed, as well as the link of Darwinian thought to Eugenics in the U.S. and abroad, as well as other shocking revelations. I will buy a few copies of this movie to pass around.

Ben went out of his way to pursue both sides and wasn't afraid to ask the hard questions. And he kept asking. Because it is so totally improbable to have all occurred by random chance, it begs serious inquiry. Why the rabid ostracism of those that embrace ID if it were really the product of overactive imaginations. It would be so easy to disprove it would seem. But it isn't. Too much history. Too many unanswered questions. Too much tampering with evidence that was too widely documented to escape notice.

I would have hoped there would be even more evidence brought up, but all of that extra science may have bored an audience who couldn't care a dang. Having said that, I don't really see any room for improvement. Even those evolutionists out there would agree that the film draws the viewer in.

Documentary with many skeletons in its closet

One may be subject to amazement at the sight of the movie "Expelled". The acting in this movie is great, although better suited for a drama than a documentary. And why shouldn't it be? Ben Stein has had over 20 years of acting experience. He has experience and qualifications in acting and economics. Although he has absolutely no experience and qualifications in science. This becomes evident with Ben Stein's elementary misunderstanding of the scientific method. One of many notable misunderstandings is fact that Ben Stein seems to think the Theory of Evolution is supposed to explain the origin of life. This is not true due to the fact that the Theory of Evolution is only meant to describe how the first unicellular life form evolved into so many complex life forms. The origin of that first unicellular life form is still in question and will fall under a different theory when discovered. According to Ben Stein's logic, the Law of Gravity would be flawed because it does not explain the origin of life, or how it evolved, or why earthquakes happen. One might also be astonished to hear that the interviewed scientists, such as Richard Dawkins, were actually mislead by Mark Mathis into doing these interviews for a movie entitled "Crossroads" a film that simply just allows viewers to become familiar with the controversy surrounding Evolution, Creation, and Intelligent Design. Interestingly enough, the rights for the domain "Expelled" were purchased before the interviews. More information is available on a host of websites exposing this trickery. It is likely that these scientists may have not answered these questions in the same manner in which they did if they knew the actual purpose of this documentary. Richard Dawkins' alien comments were actually a way of "making fun" of intelligent design theory, but would have likely been communicated clearer if he knew the true intent of the movie. This is just one example of a whole host of misleading information to where vital facts are mostly left unspoken. Although a full critique of the flaws within this movie would be enough to fill a lengthy credible website (and it does, many times), i will leave with one more. Ben Stein neglects to point out the obvious reason why the scientific community rejects Intelligent Design and seeks to remove it from being taught to impressionable youths. Intelligent design is supernatural pseudo science with absolutely no peer-reviewed studies. It is a multi-century old anti-scientific idea that has been revived as a way to insert religion back into public schools. This is all discussed in "The Wedge" document, released by the leaders of the Intelligent Design community in the early 90s. It is no wonder unbiased polls show 95-99% of the scientific community accepts the Theory of Evolution. I encourage anyone who watched this movie to read up on the subject before coming to any quick conclusions. I did and that's why i gave this movie 1 star.

Scary how science is being stifled. Nice to see the sarcasm going the other way.
