This was probably the best gift for the grandparents. Now they can easily brisk through facebook photos from their favorite people...an unexpected surprise! Once a week or so, they listen to Pandora and watch the photos together. It's great for keeping them up to date for anything they missed on their facebook timelines. There is a small learning curve but nothing like trying to get them to use facebook directly on an apple or PC. This system streamlines the experience and gives them exactly what they want to see without the extra features and software that really only complicates everything for them. The video quality is top notch! This has already bridged the gap that a phone call could not. Now they're bragging to their neighborhood and Church. Good times :)

After many months of trouble with the connection and inability to reset the device, I emailed Facebook about the issues to no avail..still no response and refer you to a blog. I've reached out to them 1 month before manufacture warranty ended, they didn't help or respond, it's now the new year and my manufacture warranty is over. Tbh, That was FB goal to ignore me as the warranty would soon be expired. I'll never support anything from Facebook ever again. This useless item sits on counter with dark screen only and stays loading and flickering, not to mention does other buggy things like turns on Mic or Cam out of nowhere without me doing anything. This device was well taken care of and never dropped or abused. I'm extremely unhappy I wasted $700 for two of these devices. I'm not materialistic and barely on FB, I did it so we can gather on portal as bro just moved north with new baby. Turned out to be a $700 headache entire time. Thanks Facebook for ignoring my inquiries and warranty.

Wow is all I can say! Our family is a HUGE fan of the new Facebook Portal and Portal +. My boys and I haven’t stopped using it since we plugged it in! I’ll be honest, I don’t use Facebook a ton, I mostly use Instagram to push all my posts to Facebook, and I will login a couple times a week to see what’s going on…but now, I feel like Facebook has completely changed the game with the Portal and Portal +. My favorite feature has to be the smart camera which literally follows you around as you move through the room! Now if you are anything like our family, getting two boys under 4 to sit still and talk for any given period of time is basically impossible, so this feature is incredible! I also love that the camera can get super wide if there are multiple people in frame, or focus in, if it’s just a one-on-one conversation. Some other amazing features are that it has Amazon Alex Built-in, it can display photos as well as show you videos from your Facebook friends, you can also listen to your favorite music through apps like Pandora, Spotify and iHeart Radio. I have to say the number of options, outside of calling people and watching videos on Facebook, is a bit limited for now but I have to assume they will be adding more and more apps as time goes one. One thing I also love is you can bring up to six other people into a group call, hence why I think this maybe my go to Christmas Present this year.

We’ve had our Facebook Portal+ for a day and already love it. We also have a HomePod and Google Home downstairs, with other smart home hubs throughout our home. The 15” high resolution screen is beautiful and the audio is load and full of bass. The addition of YouTube makes for a great kitchen cooking assistant and showing videos to guests. We love using the Portal+ for Facebook Messenger calls and not having to stay in one place, as the camera intelligently follows you around the room. Alexa integration works as it should, but we’re looking forward to Google Assistant support in an upcoming update.

The great thing about Portal is it helps you stay connected. Easy to set up and get going right out of the box. Love that Alexa is integrated with it, and my kids do too. The Superframe is great for those photos that usually just end up in albums on Facebook, never to be seen again. The smart camera is fun and a great alternative to reminding kids to stay in the frame. :) Would love to see - and maybe I just haven't figured it out yet - a way to mute Portal but still use Alexa. (It's a curious kid thing)

Just called my son in Japan and had a wonderful video talk with he and his wife. They were very impressed with the smart camera, video quality and sound. Picture quality with Messenger is so much better than Skype. This being said I am disappointed in some things it looked like it would do with Amazon Alexa. I saw things in the video adds in Best Buy that showed it interacting with List on video, Menus on video, timers on video. The only thing it shows while using Alexa on Video is the weather. I called Portal and they told me that would be wonderful but it doesn’t do it. I went back to Best Buy and they were under the same assumption. I bought two. One for us and one for our Daughter to talk with our Grandkids and do the neat interactive bed time stories. That will be fun.

This is the absolute best way for me to see my grandson's. Being way down south, using The Portal puts me right in their living room and them in mine. It easy to setup and easy to use. I love it when it rings and its my 3yr old grandson calling me. The picture is crystal clear the sound is perfect. Every Grandparent should have one of these. LONELY NO MORE ❤

Facebook just made a big move by bringing the web browser to this! They also added a Netflix app and several games! But honestly for those of you who are so worried about the price, tell me what would you have spent if you only bought a 15 inch tablet? Now what if instead you bought a 15 inch monitor and a webcam and BOTH of them are in 1080p, how much have you spent then? Now what if you attached a 20 watt speaker to your monitor and webcam? Seriously, for the value this is soooo worth the deal! I’ve connected with my family again, I’ve found a way to hang out with old friends, and mostly I love the digital photo frame feature, I get to enjoy all the photos of my friends because they are saved as my favorites and the best part? I don’t even have to get on Facebook to see their photos. I love this thing!!!!

If you’re like my family, you live just far enough apart that you don’t see each other very often. Now, with Facebook Portal, you can be miles away but together in the same room! The Facebook Portal take Facetime Video messaging to a whole new level! My niece is expecting her 2nd baby and we can’t wait to use the Facebook Portal to see that new baby and catch up on how the big brother is doing. She may be in Alabama, but it won’t seem like it! I’ve been using my Portal with another blogger friends and we have been having lots of fun! I don’t think I’ll ever be happy with regular Facebook Video Chat anymore!

It is more like actually being with one another, almost as though you are in the same room, even when you are many miles away from one another. Portal has a smart camera that moves around with you. You can continue to do whatever it was when you connected with another person. The camera will follow you so that you don’t pop in and out of view. The camera will automatically widen to capture more people as they enter the room, making it easy to connect with more than just one person at a time. The sound is smart as well. Portal enhances the voice of the person who is speaking through a microphone that cancels out much of the background noise. When you are not making a video call Portal can display your Facebook photos and videos. You can also ask Portal to fill the room with your favorite music through its powerful hi-fi speaker system. Overall, the Facebook Portal

We haven’t had this long but it’s really fun. It came as part of a blogger campaign, but we have been enjoying the communication features with friends and family a lot! We are excited to keep using it especially through the holidays! The other features seem decent. Video clarity is excellent. Some of the Facebook watch videos aren’t super kid friendly so we will either be diligent while the kids use it or look into how to set up parental controls. I see some negative comments about the Alexa features, and to be honest, I am quite confident those will come in time. Be patient!! Our Portal has already updated since we started using it so I’m sure that as time goes by and more consumers are using these Portals, that Alexa features will work more and more smoothly. The only con I have found is what someone else noted- and it’s not a con so much as an annoyance. The verification code seems to be popping up every time you want to change or adjust something so hopefully that’s in an update soon to fix that.

Staying Connect with the Facebook Portal

We have been using the Portal Plus and Portal to share the holidays (Halloween/Thanksgiving) with my parents in NC. It's been wonderful. My boys got to follow grandma around the kitchen via Portal while she made her famous Christmas Cookies! It's a great way to stay connected and the video/audio quality is amazing. I love using it when not talking to family to watch Food Channel cooking shows and the boys are glued to YouTube. We have our Portal hooked up to Alexa for added convenience.

Great video quality and sound. Purchased this to make it easier to join Zoom calls at work. It works really well and having a dedicated device for Zoom calls has helped with productivity as you can be on a video call and using your computer at the same time.

I've had this product since Christmas Time. I placed it on my kitchen and I've used it about 10 times. Each of those times, I've gotten the same reaction from my family and friends "what are you using?" "how are you 'face timing' or 'video calling' me?" and they would tell me that the quality looked very clear. I'd tell them that I'm using the Portal and they would be confused because they still didn't know what it was. This product is new and very modern looking. It fits my kitchen perfectly! The best part about the product is that you don't need to hold the camera or use your hands at all to record yourself. The camera that's built in the portal has a wide range of view and can follow your movement wherever you are around the kitchen or wherever you might have the device placed. You can always move the portal around the house wherever you'd like, I have mine placed in the kitchen where it covers the entire view of the kitchen and part of the living room. I did notice that the portal doesn't track the person who's talking, instead it tracks the bigger movements. For example, there were about 4 of us in my kitchen one time and my friend was talking from one part of the kitchen and the rest of us were on the other side of the kitchen. The portal would never leave our sight because we were the bigger bodied group, we caused more movement for the portal to follow. Even when we stayed still and my friend was still talking from a couple of feet away from us, the portal would still stay on us. It wasn't until my friend got closer to the portal, where she became the bigger body, that the portal started to follow her. So my guess is that with larger groups of people, it'll be better if everyone is at around the same distance from the portal in order for everyone to come out in the video. Overall, I think it's an okay product, it has been fun to use and play with. We video called many of our friends and they were impressed mainly with how they get to view us. They get to see everything on their screen while we only get to see their face because they're holding up their phones at an arm's distance away. I would like to see how it looks from a portal to portal video call and perhaps write a new review for that to let everyone know about it.

With social distancing, quarantines, and isolation this is a great solution to keep in touch with family. We purchased for our mom who is in Assisted Living and in quarantine so we are unable to visit. I was able to setup the Portal then drop off with Assisted Living staff who just needed to plug into outlet. What our mom sees is a simple list/icons of her kids. To start a call she just needs to push icon or use a simple voice command. Once the call is started there is nothing she needs to do just sit back, relax and have a video call. There is nothing she needs to hold, no applications to open, no need to worry where the camera is pointed. When people enter her room the camera will automatically move to show the person. We use Portal constantly. The Facebook Messenger Visual Effects are fun also. Overall highly recommended,

My father is deaf and also cannot read or write. All other devices were too complicated or required speaking in order for him to be able to video message. We tried a kindle which was too complicated. IPad -we don't all have IPhones or IPads to carry around. etc... We decided to give this a shot and it has worked great so far. His main screen only has the icons for my brother and I and it is very simple for him to use. No reading required or speaking which is perfect. Love love love it so far. We have never been able to "call" my dad on the phone, and now we can. It truly is special.
