With all the commotion over this movie, I was expecting worse. But it was better than I anticipated. My girlfriend didn't understand what all the fuss was about either. We both enjoyed it and it gave us a few ideas of our own for our relationship.

For those that read the books, we expected more but you can only put in so much into a movie to keep it an R rating. The unrated version really doesn't have any more than what was shown in the movie. The alternate ending is interesting but I still like the original ending better. Otherwise the movie itself was pretty good.

Often it's hard to not compare a book to a movie too harshly. But if you can try not to, the movie is really good. I read all the books but my husband didn't, and he loved it, and I thought it was well done. See it, if something like this wouldn't be offensive, use your own personal guidelines before commenting wrongly, you knew what it entailed before you watched! Plus, who couldn't love the steel box set from best buy. I love these, and try to always get them when purchasing blurays.

After viewing this movie, found it to be quite interesting, quite a bit of nudity with almost explicit scenes. Rather complicated "love story" about two people, one, the female, knew to ways of the male's particular appetite and their ensuing relationship. Generally good entertainment.

Had not read any of the books; but, really didn't need to given the extent to which they are discussed by others, "Cliff Notes". The movie did meet my expectations and appreciated the additional material included on the unrated version included in the Steelbook edition. Certainly nothing shocking or unexpected.

Even though this movie is very intense in some scenes, I think it is still good movie because of the love story in general. It may not be in my list of top movies but it's still good. If you are really unsure, I say rent it before buying. I did this and liked it enough to buy.

Consistent with the plot of the book, it portrays a blooming romance that introduces people to a new world of pleasure that some enjoy but it is not a lifestyle or desire for everyone. Many will find the allure of erotic exploration as something to try but it gave me a better understanding of that venue.

I wasn't expecting much based on what my wife told me about the books. This all changed within the first 30 minutes of the movie. From a physiological standpoint this movie is the perfect struggle of dominant and submissive sides of human nature, but it goes deeper if you look beyond the flesh.

I actually really liked the books and I also like the movie. I consider myself picky about both movies and books, but I can also appreciate a good twisted love story when it is offered. The actors portray their characters wonderfully, the soundtrack is awesome, and the visuals aren't too shabby either ;) I also as always love the Steelbook packaging and I'm very glad I purchased early enough to get the Steelbook packaging before it went out of stock :)

I didn't read the book, so I wasn't expecting much from the movie. It was on sale, so I purchased it and was pleasantly surprised. It's unfair to compare a movie to a book since the movie can only provide so much detail in a couple of hours and still make it interesting to viewers.

This movie shows how a person can go from being one thing and change to another. When you want something you make changes to have it. I don't like the fact that I pre-ordered the movie and I get it a day after it's been out in stores. Make no sense to me if I pre-order an item I get it late.

I really enjoyed this movie. Scenes in the movie coincided well with the book. The actors portraying Anastasia and Christian were great. I am looking forward to the next two books coming to life.

Not as good as the book, but still it's nice to see what you've read, acted out. You can't expect this to be more than a guilty pleasure, lol. If you're wanting real life, most movies have too many unbelievable situations. Just enjoy it for what it is, a love story with some quirks!

Overall I'd say it is a pretty good movie. I bought this expecting a "romance" movie... and its safe to say its far from that. I have no regrets buying this movie, just wasn't what I expected when checking out. I'd recommend this movie to others, especially females.

I don't know why but I liked this movie but I did. Yeah, people will think it's because of the extra curricular stuff but it wasn't. I just felt that Dakota Johnson and the other guy had a great chemistry together. People would think that it would freaky but no it was cute. Just saying

Got this as a gift for my wife because she loved the books. Got this because it was a steel book case and from my experience it protects it better. From what she told me it is not as good as the books and thought it could be better but it was something she wanted and had to have.

The movie is good but not as good as the books. although the movie follows the book fairly well. Several scenes that were explained well in the book did not have the same impact in the movie. The book is portrayed from Anastasia’s point of view and the movie loses this perspective.

Yes the dialogue is hokey and the acting is, well, let's just say it rates above a B movie, but "50 Shades of Grey" does prove to be an entertaining movie. If you can just sit back, relax and let the story unfold, the movie gives you a wonderful romantic and, shall we say, unusual look at a relationship. Theater was full of women when I saw this flick, but negative reviews aside, I enjoyed it thoroughly. I think you will, too.

My wife was temped by the trend... So she read the books, then got the movie.. She enjoyed it. But I did not. She said it was a bit childish, and the acting was pretty bad. But it shows off a rich guys life and dark secret. What women like in a story I guess like?

While this was an improvement from the book and offered titillating erotic scenes, it suffers from the same defects from its source material. Unrealistic dialogue, no real ending, a weak plot development, and ultimately uninteresting characters. It even felt boring at times.
