More of what i have come to like about Final fantasy. The game play is smooth, the battle system is fun and challenging, the story line is engaging, and the side quests are plenty

Hardly touched other titles. And i fell in love with this one. 150 hours in. And i feel ive gotten my money out of it. Since i wasnt waiting 10 years for dev teams, my expectations were not super elevated. But i was impressed

    I enjoyed the story...

I'm not sure if i'm emotionally recovered yet from this game, but I did enjoy it. The good parts for me, the story and graphics. Great graphics and the story itself was worth the journey. I did take time to do the side quests and found those to be hit or miss. While I enjoyed some of the dungeons, the side quests didn't add much to the story itself. That being said, some people may find it boring to do them. Personally, i enjoyed them and there were some funny anecdotes in some of them. What I didn't like, the combat system. There could be huge improvements on this. For one, if you are fighting multiple enemies, the targeting system is terrible! And forget it if you are near any trees, brush, rocks, etc. The camera angle will focus on the terrain instead of what you are fighting. This is even with having the camera angle panned out to the farthest setting. Overall, the story for me, made this a worthwhile journey. After chapter 9 or 10, it gets much more fast paced and things start to click and you begin to see what may come to pass. It was a very emotional journey. I loved the scenes that were played during the credits. The scene after the credits also was a "gasp" moment.

FFXV changes the FF formula and modernizes it to appeal to even non RPG traditionalists. Fighting plays out in real time now and the action is better for it so even if you do not like RPG's because of the point and click fighting mrchanics, they are now thrown out the window. You now can block parry attack all in real time. Now you traditionalists may be thinking its too much to handle while trying to manage your inventory and casting spells and using healing potions but its not. They paced everything just right. If you appreciate games with beautiful graphics and a great story, you will love Final Fantasy XV.

I have been playing FF games for almost 30 years. FFXV is certainly not my favorite, but the more I played it, it came close. At first, your minds eye will tell you, other FF games played better and were more fun. I challenge you to go back and fire up FF4 or VII or X. Play any of those for a bit, then go back to this one. To me, FFXV has taken some of the best parts of Final Fantasies past and rolled them into this. For a lot of people, FF XIII is the last entry they played and this game will feel familiar. Let's not forget, that originally this was supposed to be a spin off from XIII called FF XIII versus. Somewhere in development that changed. So yes, there are elements of that game still in here. When I first started my journey, I had a bad taste in my mouth for the first few hours. I never felt like I was really in control of the battle sequences. Then I stepped away for a day or two and would wonder how the battles would go if I tried a couple of different things. Then the combat started to click. Some reviewers will say the combat gets repetitive. O.k. Go back and play FF VII. You will do the same old stuff over and over again to get through battles. The same commands, magic, item use, party buffers, summons etc.... Not only that, the old games can take forever to get through tougher battles. This game is designed to be strategically similar to those old games, but at a faster pace, giving you the illusion of repetitiveness. Some reviewers don't like the fact that elite magic spells are used during what seems to be scripted moments in battle. In some cases, this is true. However, during the point of battle that promptu and Ignis launch a blizzara spell at the enemy, the developer knows, you would most likely use that anyway. So they prompt you to do it in stylistic fashion. There aren't your standard spell structure here. Yes you can leech elements from the ground and craft your own spell potions. Those are basic. The more powerful magic comes at random and is awesome when it happens. Why give you a super fire spell that you will use all the time and get bored of? They ration it out for you and let you use it when it will melt your face with awesomeness. Some gamers don't like that loss of control over the action. That's understandable. I however am 40 with two kids. I no longer have the time to grind and schlog through a JPRPG anymore. FFXV might try to hard to be everything to everyone. Somewhere along the line, they are going to upset and lose people. I personally enjoy this game a lot. I think it is one of the best FF games in the bunch. Until the FF VII remaster comes out.

FINAL FANTASY XV is a game that has everything to make you happy. It has a open world, but also, has many linear moments due to story, and the story is VERY good at all. Escaping the flames of war, Noctis epic journey with his best friends is very real and deep. The battle system is so good and the game has the best dungeons in all FF series. I loved Princess Luna, she is so cute and strong.

I left FF games after FF10. I just couldn't get into FF12 or 13, didn't care for the MMOs, and really wasn't interested in the brand anymore. I honestly thought I was done with the series. Then FF15 came out, and I fell in love. 68 hours later, I'm probably only about halfway to three quarters through the story, and I'm not showing any signs of slowing down. Spent a lot of time exploring the world, enjoying the battle system, and getting into the characters of Noctis and his quirky friends. A Final Fantasy for fans and first timers, indeed.

I am a big RPG gamer since the 8bit era, I love both JRPGs and Western RPGs. FFXV has been a lackluster experience to me but it was still worth the play through. What the game has to offer: Open world (to a certain point), Side quest galore!, Awesome graphics, Awesome music. Where the game disappoints: Very simplistic battle system (this can be a pro to some..), no real character development (skills), lack of cosmetic changes to characters Lastly the story is average compared to other FF games but good enough in RPG terms.

My wife and I co-played the game over the last few weeks while watching the kid and had a lot of fun doing it. The battle mechanics are good and game play fluid with a story line we are both happy with. Our only real issue with the game is the camera sometimes goes into positions during fights where your entire view is obstructed and doesn't allow you to adjust at all, especially while locked on a specific enemy in a fight. Overall it's a great game and I'd recommend to anyone who's a fan of this style RPG. This specific copy was actually purchased as a gift for a friend after we had already played our digital copy.

I've played every Final Fantasy since 7, and I consider this one of the best. This is an open world action RPG, that should not be missed if you are a Final Fantasy fan. The core game play is real time action which is refreshing for a final fantasy game on console. Graphically it looks great and the musical score is wonderful. Considering they let you listen to every sound track from previous final fantasy games. Since there are not that many AAA RPG games out for console. This is one to consider getting.

Works well on the PS4 Pro, it does slow down the frame rate when using the UHD settings. Looks better than the XBOX One version just by a little. Characters are great, fun, and they are funny. Music is amazing and gameplay is a great twist to the traditional turn based RPG. Plays like Kingdom Hearts but with a team. Customization is nice and story is good too. It's easy to learn but has a learning curve to master too. Definitely a pick up. It will have free updates in the upcoming year as well.

This was a good game that could have been a masterpiece. I would give the first half of the game a full 5/5 for intriguing story and decent characters to accompany great gameplay. However its apparent that past the halfway point this game was not complete. It turned into a rushed nonsensical plot that didn't make any sense. I would give the 2nd a 2/5 it was that bad. Its a shame because it built itself a wonderful world that just couldn't deliver in the end. That being said its still a solid overall experience that I would recommend for a discount sale.

It's interesting to me that after all the years this game took to make, that the last third of it would feel so unfinished. The last third just funnels you into dark corridors and had really boring gameplay gimmicks taking the MC away from his party mates and using a new magic ability that's not fun to utilize. While it was hitting its stride, the battle system was still not very good, but the world was interesting to explore and there was obviously a lot of work put into details like what the food dishes looked like. It's just too bad that all this work didn't go into a game with good gameplay ideas, or a good story. It felt like the game wanted to be about these guys out on a fun road trip where they can explore the cool world and fight final fantasy monsters along the way, but it gets burdened with this typical melodramatic save the world nonsense story, that kills the vibe it was going for with how most of it was put together. It's like there were too many people fighting over creative control of what the game was supposed to be. There's a good amount of free dlc with this one though, and it already had a fair bit of length, so its probably still a good value for the money. It's cool to see a lot of the classic final fantasy creatures created in what's pretty good 3d graphics. The music is high quality as well, and there's a fair amount of classic tracks to play on the car radio. I overall liked the game, but with PS4 having better JRPGs available, I'm not sure is this is the best place for someone to invest a lot of time.

    Classic Series - New Twist

Everything you love about the series but with a fresh twist on the battle system. I was personally turned off by the lack of diversity among the group (all male, all the same ethnicity, all dress in black, all friendly and polite). I also would have liked a bit more stability in the camera work during battles. However, overall, extremely enjoyable battle system, equipment and skill/xp progression, and great dynamic music style. Although it doesn't perfectly fit my fanboy mold of an FF game (doubtless any new game would) it certainly has me addicted.

Final Fantasy XV has one of the most engaging character dynamics I have ever experienced in a video game. The story is fairly straightforward but difficult to follow due to the multimedia nature of adjacent titles related to the game, but the overall story in relation to the protagonist Noctis and his three friends are utterly delightful and engaging. Between this, the addictive combat and impressive visuals, there's a lot to love as long as you don't think about the story too hard.

First final fantasy I've played since ffx, game play is good with open world battle style kind of like kingdom heart but with limit, wish it had a hard mode to play but oh well guess like square didn't want to scare away the new generations of gamers but overall very fun game to play, main story was very easy to complete, side quest and secret dungeons are much more challenging, will easily kill 20++ hours of gameplay!

I waited awhile to get this game because I heard about all the bad press it had gotten, mainly the infamous "Chapter 13". While they seemed to have fixed it a bit (it still sucks for the most part) I have to say I highly enjoyed the rest of the game. Combat was fun and fast paced, although a little to chaotic at times. I enjoyed the story, and the set pieces were great. Plus, it looks amazing on my PS Pro.

Not finished and over 60 hours of addictive fun. This is a simplified final fantasty for new players with combat consisting of push o and dodge, drop magic and L1 meter for special. 4k and ps4 pro make this delicious eye candy with great musical score. The side quests like fishing and the betting at the battle arena are fun. The story is a bit broken as future dlc via the season pass is chopped out. A bit repetitious at times and summoning is sadly too rare but overall a great fantasy escape.
