It was easy to set up and stall. The AA batteries Included is a plus. Wireless feature is definitely I liked. I am not that of a handy person. I got 10 of these and was able to install myself. The size was almost same as the old one and fitted without affecting the ceiling paint.

Quick and easy installation. I was also able to link this to Samsung Smartthings. Easily check your battery level in the app. Picked up a total of 3 detectors. You can't go wrong.

I’ve had these smoke detectors installed for a little over 1 year and connected to be monitored with my Ring alarm system. The batteries needed to be replaced after 1 year, so that was the first thing I wasn’t pleased with.
I am away on vacation with poor cell signal, and found out that there was a smoke alarm about a half hour after it started. At this point the police and fire department had already responded. I did some research and discovered that false alarms with this particular detector are common. I have since disabled the monitoring so I don’t waste anymore precious time from the PD and FD.
The false alarm started and ended in the same minute… the house was unoccupied with everything non-essential turned off… completely ridiculous.

Bhought this to work with the Ring alarm pro. So far it works great. The Ring alarm will detect it as 2 separate sensors, one for fire and CO.

Connecting the alarm via the Ring app was simple. If you have shared users, you can only connect the device using the primary user's account.
Connect the detector via the app before you install on the ceiling or wall. For me, there was no need to drill holes to install since the base of old was same as base for this one. These are wireless detectors so no need to “wire” them. I tested the detectors and they sounded off as they should.
I replaced all detectors in home with these. The primary user will be able to see all detectors listed so if you have more than one listed, you will need to name them so you would know which one is which. You can assign a location (living room, master bedroom, etc.) and name for each detector.
I have not had any of them to sound off yet. It is supposed to be "smart" enough to detect "normal" smoke from cooking. I have yet to verify that.
There are varies types, some be mindful of which one you are getting. Not all types with Ring. Additionally, the detectors are not interconnected. If one rings, you will not here an announcement of which one is sounding off. However, you should be able to determine which one via the ring app/notification.
These detectors do run by batteries, so you need to be mindful of that. You should be able to see the battery efficiency in the Ring app.
They are reasonable priced. They may be a bit cheaper on Amazon. Best Buy is supposed to price match. I tried that but since the “model number” was not the same, my store would not honor it. I did purchase one from Best Buy.
I would commend to others as it adds another level of home safety.

Works well so far (no actual fires or carbon monoxide to detect yet, but the test button works, so -- fingers crossed). It was easy to install. It's a decent price for a combination smoke/CO detector, so it's a good deal even if you don't plan to link it to a Ring system.
One thing I like about First Alert products compared to Kidde is the way they designed the base. Once you attach the detector to the base, you can rotate the detector up to a little more than 90 degrees so that it "lines up" any way you want it to -- which, if you have just a bit of OCD (don't we all?), is appealing. Kidde gives you a way to line up the device too, but they do it with arrows on the base, so if you don't get the base mounted just right you're out of luck.
I would recommend it to others and would buy it again if I needed another.

I replaced my expensive/aging house alarm system with the Ring Alarm Hub and so I was in the market to replace my existing Smoke detectors that were hard wired to the house alarm. I purchased (3) of these Smoke/CO alarms as it is the only model Ring currently supports; as of Jan. 2020. Overall I am very impressed with both the technology as well as the price.
Installation was a breeze as all you need to do is insert the batteries and push a button...after that it pairs itself to the Ring Alarm hub.
Even though these units are battery operated (no wires) they offer a wireless feature that allows them to communicate with each other so if one unit detects a fire or CO they will all sound the alarm.
If you don't have a Ring Alarm but do have a Smartthings Hub then you are in luck as this also works with Smartthings. Only one or the other though as you cannot connect a zwave device to 2 different hubs at the same time.

Have Ring? Get This smoke detector. So easy to set up with Ring. If it detects smoke it has a light for that and Ring Will contact you just in case you are burning food on the stove, but if the CO ever goes off Ring will contact you but they'll also contact the fire department and you can't cancel it, but WHY WOULD YOU? CO is colorless orderles and tasteless but it will kill you easily.
Plus the Ring App even lets you know what level the battery percentage is and will warn you if someone tampers with it.
Hopefully I'll never have to use it, but I am glad it is in the household for my family and myself.

I bought 3 of these as a package offer, nice to have them integrate with Ring security system, but it was not easy to pair with Ring.
The first one was straight forward, but the 2nd and 3rd won't work no matter how many times I tried and researched online and followed instructions from both First Alert and Ring Security.
At the end I had to call Ring technical support, after been transferred a couple of times, I could finally follow the step-by-step instruction from the guy on the phone which is completely different from any published instructions to have the last 2 paired up. When I asked him why the "secret" but correct instruction is not published anywhere on either Ring or First Alert guides, he said it was their "internal troubleshooting steps".

This linked well with my Ring system and I haven’t had an issue yet. The battery life is a bit shorter with it connecting to the live system. But all in all it’s a great unit.

Glad that they recently added hardwired...setup is a little hit and miss through the app but tough to tell who's to blame for that. Does what it's supposed to once it is successfully setup in the app it does what it's supposed to.

I was very happy to get one that works with my Ring alarm, without having to completely go all in on the Ring specific ones. It was time to replace a couple of the ones I had. Most times, the smoke and carbon monoxide were different devices and costs double what this did. Installation myself was easy, setting it up within my ring app was easy and quick.
