I use my Fitbit every day, all day. The problem in the past has been that they have not been waterproof. As soon as they announced the Fitbit Ionic, I knew I was going to get one because I’m around water all the time. So far, I have not been disappointed. I have been paddle boarding with it, as well as body surfing and it has held up like a champion. I would highly recommend the Fitbit Ionic for the fitness minded Individual who likes to be around water.

I bought this for my boyfriend, he loves copper or gold things. He loved this color! As far as the watch goes, being a fitness watch I think it's the best one on the market right now, fitbit always has more accurate information. I wore this watch and my watch which is the LG sports watch and compared my heart rate on the watches and the monitor on the elliptical I was working out on and the fitbit and the elliptical matched the closest but the LG watch was like 30-60 beats lower then the fitbit, it never match the fitbit. I love the sleek and thinness of this watch also, it's very lightweight. The workout videos are very clear and awesome to have to guide you through an exercise. The strap design is genius! It's nice not to have a strap that's constantly falling out of the strap holder and getting caught on stuff. This strap just clips right into place and stays put. The fact that you can store music, have Pandora and GPS is awesome!! The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that we can't reply to text messages. We can receive them but not send them? What's the point of having the ability to see them if you can't do nothing with it? At least have quick responses we could use like a simple "yes", "no", "can't talk", "text you in a few", or something? I'm definitely looking forward to when they do make a watch that will have that ability because for fitness, fitbit is the best and most accurate!

After owning a Blaze and a Pebble I thought the Ionic would be the ultimate combination, water proof,5 day battery and an Android Wear type approach to notifications. This Fitbit only got the the first two right. Purely as a fitness watch not too bad but do we really need to watch TV workouts on our watch?. Now as a smart watch it fails miserablely. There are no notifications that you can read except texts, emails are like the tv commercial " we just let you know you have an email" go to your phone to actually find out who it's from and what it is. Go to the Fitbit forum to read the over 500 complaints about how difficult it is to set up and how useless customer service is.

I was going back and forth between the Apple Watch and the Ionic. In the end, the battery life of the Ionic won. I spoke to friends who had the Apple Watch and they told me the problem they could not get past was the battery life. I have been very happy with the Ionic. One of the complaints I read about was the design. However after wearing the watch, I am very pleased with the design. I haven’t used the music feature, I mainly purchased it for the Fitbit tracking. You have to decide why you want to spend a lot of money for a watch, and what you want it to do for you. For me, I wanted a fitness tracker that could also be a watch

Pros:
Great Battery life
Nice Color Screen
Great for Fitness tracking
Cons:
Limited Smartwatch ( but great Fitness watch and it looks good)
Offline music integration only with Pandora, they need to add Spotify.
Had to reinstall Fitbit app to make it work ( have Blaze too)

I have a Surge, which is still a great watch, and I simply got tired of carrying my iPhone with me to the gym because I liked using Pandora. I thought it was cool that the latest Apple Watch didn't need to be tethered to the iPhone, but I didn't need all the bells and whistles on it and also another cellular plan. I simply wanted a great fitness watch with a bluetooth connection to my wireless earbuds and to play Pandora without the need of being tethered to a mobile device— and that is exactly what the Ionic is for me. It did have a few annoying syncing issues with the mobile app, but it does seem a little more stable now after the recent updates. I also love the vivid colored digits and graphics, which is a nice visual upgrade compared to the Surge. The easy 'pop-off-snap-on' wrist bands are a nice touch! I'm looking forward to swapping these out. So far, I'm pretty pleased with this watch and I'm looking forward to using its other features!

Fitbit Ionic has a better-than-most-smartwatches four-day battery life, while still having always-on heart rate and a comfy fit. It has features galore: waterproofing, GPS and on-wrist mobile payments, plus new watch faces and a growing app store. It works with iOS and Android, and has an excellent phone app and social community.

I just started to use this product and so far it is good at fitness tracking. For the price, wish fitbit would upgrade to allow you to respond to texts and answer calls. I need to use it more but I bet it is the BEST watch for fitness tracking.

There isn’t really anything bad to say about the Ionic. It is so much nicer to wear that the bulky Surge. The sleep details are extremely helpful to me since I have a couple sleep disorders. The battery life is outstanding. The screen is holding up perfectly despite my abuse. If you want to track your activity and sleep then this is a no-brainer. Best thing I have done for myself in a long time.

I would recommend this watch though to anyone, especially if you have an Android or Windows device since the Apple Watch is limited to just apple products. The battery lasts about 4 days for me which is better than what I expected. It is fully waterproof and pretty comfortable, and the fitness software is really excellent. This is a great smartwatch/fitness tracker overall. Highly recommended.

I have been a faithful Fitbit user for years (primarily Charge HR), though I know that the quality of these products is... average. I need a watch for my job and enjoy knowing steps and heart rate, so Fitbits worked perfectly for what I needed them for.
I have been wanting a smart watch for a while now, and when I saw that Fitbit came out with a basic smartwatch plus the fitness tracking capabilities, I bought it. I didn't need a fancy smart watch, so I was generally satisfied with the limited smart watch app features as long as the fitness tracking was high quality.
The first thing I noticed was the quality of the touch screen. It is decent, until you try to swipe notifications away; it's almost impossible (not sure if it's a screen quality issue or software connectability issue). I was also pretty excited about the Pandora app and "wallet" payment features, but guess what? You have to have a Pandora Premium account to use the Pandora app, and only major, select banks support Fitbit's "wallet" app (I think there are 7-8 banks on the list). There is also a major software issue that makes the Fitbit disconnect from your phone--a lot. I had to delete the device from my Fitbit account and re-add/install my Ionic numerous times so that my notifications would come through to my watch. Fitbit at least needs to fix that issue ASAP.
Basically, I paid $300 ($350 retail) for a Fitbit with an attractive watch face. If this is what you're looking for, then just get the Fitbit Blaze for $200 less. On Black Friday at Best Buy, the basic Apple watch was just about the SAME PRICE as the Fitbit Ionic. I am kicking myself for not just getting an Apple watch. To comparison of quality is a no-brainer.
Bottom line: Fitbit doesn't deserve to put a $350 price tag on this product. There are countless bugs they need to work out. It is NOT worth your money to get this product if you are looking for a smart watch that also does fitness. Either get a Blaze and forget about the "smart" stuff, or just get a Google assistant/Apple watch. I have since returned my Ionic and am saving up for an Apple watch instead. I am done with Fitbit.

I researched between the fitbit ionic and the apple watch. A lot of reviews were pro apple watch but ultimately I wanted a fitness watch. The apple watch has to be recharged so often that it would not really track my sleep. I only charge the fitbit when I shower. I also wanted something mainly for fitness and the ionic delivers with the added bonus of a smart watch.

A bright and colorful display makes it easy to use in most lighting conditions. It's comfortable on my wrist and lasts a few days before needing a recharge without heavy use, but it'll charge from dead in about 2 hours on a standard USB. I'd recommend a charge stand though, because the magnetic connector is a little tricky. The GPS does drain it fast when used, but it's nice to be able to ditch the phone and still have a few albums of music and contact-less payment (where available) to keep my pockets junk-free during a run and still snag a drink if I need one. The new operating system they have is fairly customizable, and you can find displays for whatever stats you care to track.
Like just about any of these things, it's got a handful of bugs, but none I've seen are world-ending. Usually just restarting the watch and phone fixes any stupid issues the app has. Accuracy is always suspect, but based on how I feel during exercise, it's most often within a reasonable margin for everyday use by regular people. My biggest complaints are: inconsistent GPS locking (sometimes I've waited 10 minutes, other times 10 seconds just outside my house), the annoying occasional sync bugs, and that the interface is just a touch sluggish.

I wanted to replace my standard watch/stopwatch with one that could track calories burned while I worked out at the Y. I tried the S3 for a week b/c I loved the rotary dial, but the display couldn't stay on while working out. I had to continually turn my wrist and that's not feasible while you're doing planks and other exercises - my stopwatch was better. I then bought the VA3 because I read the display could stay on - but I found out it was always-on only at a very dim level so I had to concentrate to see it - I'd prefer to concentrate on my exercises so again my stopwatch was better. Enter the Ionic! Whoo hoo - a display that stays on when you want it to and a bright super-clear screen! It tracks my exercises, calories burned, sleep, GPS on runs, and is waterproof. I also ideally wanted a device that could play music so I didn't have to carry around my phone - the Ionic does this as well via Pandora. The bad side is it took about 4 hours to setup with a software update and an initial Pandora sync. The battery lasts about 4 days for me which is better than what I expected. Highly recommended.

I've had so many fitbit devices and enjoyed them all, but I love the Ionic! First, I bought it to track swimming as it's the first waterproof one. Second, I love that it has Fitbit pay and carries my Starbucks card. Finally, I love that it stores music so I always have my tunes. It's also customizable and lovely.

Just as many reviewers have noted, this watch is great for the fitness aspects. Not so great on everything else. Some of the apps, like weather, will only update if I sync to the phone. If I'm going to use the phone, I'll just look up the weather there! Music works really well. It pairs to headphones easily. The fitness apps work well and are very accurate! The gps tracks almost identically to my garmin gps handheld unit. I've owned various fitbits for years, so I was already a fan. Overall, I would definitely recommend although I haven't decided if the gps and music capability are worth the extra cost over the blaze.

I tried over 7 fitness/smart devices between Thanksgiving and Christmas and came to the conclusion that only one of them had everything I really wanted. My criteria were
1- readability under all conditions- color screen ( Full Color),l not the color accents that Garmin and pebble used to have.
1- Water resistance to 5atm because I have to take my watch off for anything.
3-Store and play music
4-All notifications with full text
5-On board GPS ...nice but not a deal breaker
6-Good health app to track my daily progress.
This Ftbit like all the others has one of the best health apps out there, I have always found it to be very helpfull if you learn how to use it and USE IT DAILY. you get what you put into it.
It covered all points except #4 Notifications this is where it falls down horribly. It doe not tell you anywhere on the box or in most of the reviews that you will read that is ONLY SHOW A BRIEF COUPLE OF WORDS in the notification. YOu will have to go to your phone to actually find out what is going on. The packaging says that you can receive phone call and respond to them NOT TRUE only if you have an IPHONE and that does not work all the time.
I decided that I need a solid fitness tracker first and something above the basic types and the Ionic really shines. BE FORWARNED, if you go to the Fitbit site and read the community comments you will find over 500 extremely negative comment about poor instructions/poor customer service and not even being able to get the darn thing set up. These are all true.... but once you do have it set up you will know how quickly you can reset it and trouble shoot on your own. I never had any issue in the set up process other that I kept screaming at Fitbit about not having full notifications until the explained thats not how they work.
If you want every thing that I wanted in my bullet points buy the Samsung Gear fit pro 2.. I has it all.....I bought one of those too.

I bought this thinking it would be nice looking for work but still give me the fitness functionality. I was right. I really like that it fits under my sweaters better than the garmin vivosmart hr that I was wearing. The only thing I'm not liking is that it doesn't always receive my notifications from my phone.

So far this is by a long shot the best fitness watch I ever had.
GPS, heart rate display calls and texts, control music from your watch, great battery life and now if you buy Fitbit headphones you can store music on your watch so you don’t even need your phone.
