    Gave Me Chills; 5 STARS!

I have just gotten into Iron Maiden (along with heavy metal of all kinds) about a year ago, give or take. When I heard that Universal Music was coming out with a movie, I was psyched. I couldn't see it in theaters, so I got the next best thing; I bought it on Blu-ray. You need to get this movie in Blu-ray. The quality is so amazing, it makes you feel like you're there, hanging out with Iron Maiden. And the price was spectacular; 30 dollars for a Blu-ray disk is the normal price, but the price is halfed to 15 here. If you are a Maiden fan, this is the reason to get a Blu-ray player. Everything about this movie is amazing.

    Maiden Rocks the Globe!

A couple of things that interested me as a guitar player and lifelong Maiden fan.... First, although I do consider him a good songwriter, I am not a fan of the guitar playing or stage antics of Janick Gers. Worse, it seems Dave Murray and Adrian Smith have an appreciation of him (Murray even seems to mimic him at times). That being said, Maiden didn't get lazy in this arrangement, and to their merit, actually took advantage of having a third guitarist by adding 3 part harmonies to many of the rhythms and solos in concert. The audio really shines in this blu-ray release and the 3 part harmonies I mentioned really come through nicely. the setlist is very good and since I didn't notice it anywhere on this site, I thought I'd add it for anyone interested. Here it is... ACES HIGH (Bandra Kurla Cmplex/Mumbai, India February 1, 2008), 2 MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT (Rod Laver Arena/Melbourne, Australia February 7, 2008), REVELATIONS (Acer Arena/Sydney, Australia February 9, 2008), THE TROOPER (Makuhari Messe/Tokyo, Japan February 16, 2008), WASTED YEARS (Arena Monterrey/Monterrey, Mexico February 22, 2008), THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST (The Forum/Los Angeles, USA February 19, 2008), CAN I PLAY WITH MADNESS (Foro Sol/Mexico City, Mexico February 24, 2008), RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER (Izod Center/New Jersey, USA March 14, 2008), POWERSLAVE (Saprissa Stadium/San Jose, Costa Rica February 26, 2008), HEAVEN CAN WAIT (Palmeiras Stadium/Sao Paulo, Brazil March 2, 2008), RUN TO THE HILLS (Simon Bolivar Park/Bogota, Colombia February 28, 2008), FEAR OF THE DARK (Ferrocarril Oeste Stadium/Buenos Aires, Argentina March 7, 2008), IRON MAIDEN (Pista Atletica/Santiago, Chile March 9, 2008), MOONCHILD (Coliseo de Puerto Rico/San Juan, Puerto Rico March 12, 2008), THE CLAIRVOYANT (Pedreira Paulo Leminski/Curitiba, Brazil March 4, 2008), HALLOWED BE THY NAME (Air Canada Centre/Toronto, Canada March 16, 2008).

    Flight of the Beast

Wow! This truly is a great documentary and an essential purchase to any Maiden fan's collection. This documentary (which bares it's name from the plane's flight number, which is in reference to their third album.) showcases Iron Maiden's immense touring schedule during their latest world tour: Somewhere Back In Time. A schedule only possible due to Ed Force One: The band's very own Boeing 757 flown by the band's own lead singer/frontman, Bruce Dickinson. Somewhere Back In Time was an epic tour that showcased the early hits of the band. It was also a great way to show the earlier songs off to a younger generation of fans while keeping the theme from their previous World Slavery Tour of 1984-85. I personally have seen this tour last summer and the film when it was shown in Pittsburgh on April 21, 2009 and was completely sold on a purchase while leaving the theater. The theater was digital (thus capable of HD video and audio). The extensive concert footage shown between interview segments and documentary footage was very nice and able to please any fan. It was a very neat experience to hear the concert in DTS-HD at the theater and I definitely felt bad for anyone in the adjacent theater that could most certainly hear the British heavy metal giants' loud sound from concerts around the world. The set list consists of the band's greatest hits from their debut album (Iron Maiden) to 1992's Fear of the Dark. If you are a fan of documentaries (or in this case Rock-U-Mentaries), Iron Maiden, or concert DVD's, then I strongly suggest the purchase of Flight 666. It is a great film that perfectly blends the three different crowds I recommend this film towards. I give Flight 666 5 Metal Horns Up. UP THE IRONS \m/('_')\m/

This movie / concert is everything and more for what a Maiden fan can ask for. Having grew up listening to them it's refreshing to see they are still rocking the world. The fact that they are doing it in their own plane which is flown by Bruce D. is mindblowing. Going to see them at the Garden tonight and this was the perfect crash course to catch up with a band that still rules the world. The clarity and sound on the overall disc is great. The movie weaves in a documentary on the bands 2008 tour. The documentary takes place between destinations and goes into the concert at each country. Their is also a mode on the disc to only watch the concert in full with no interruption. I am so happy I purchased this and heavily recommend it to all Maiden fans and newcomers as well. Also the band still sounds amazing if not better. Truly a wonderment to the heavy metal world.

This is a fantastic release from Iron Maiden. The video quality is fantastic and they've included both DTS-MA and PCM multi-channel audio for both the movie and the live tracks! Not only are the technical specs top notch, but the performance from Maiden is excellent too!! An absolute "must have" for any Maiden fan. Even casual rock fans will enjoy the documentary just because this tour was unlike any other in rock history!! Band, crew, and gear, all together on a customized 757!! Bloody Brilliant!!!!
