Service works but free plan is horrible

Was able to set up new FP plan on my new phone using the card with no issues, but with the free plan on the gsm network you only get 200mb of data and no option to turn off auto top off, so as soon as the account was activated we received an alert that the plan was going to top off or add $20 to the plan. You used to be able to turn off the auto top off with FP by paying a one time fee, now if you want to turn it off you pay a fee each month it is off. If you want to use FreedomPop service this card works, but do not but it for free service as it will not work out well for you.

I think the app is eating up the data usage. it used 2mb just to do 1 search. one text message used a lot of data, a couple MB i think. 200mb of data is definitely not enough for a month.

SIM card and plan works OK. It started with 200 min and 200 MB data. I could 500 MB additional data by requesting friends. But, Freedom Pop changed the plan without notice. Now, the max amount of data is 250 MB.

The card certainly isn't "plug and play", you need to change the APN and install their application. I bought two of these and while I think it's working ok on one of my phones, the one I got for my son only seems to work if the phone has a wifi connection. I'm going to have to play with it more to see if I can get it working correctly. Also, it seems that the company automatically charges your card when you get low on data and the only way to turn that off is to pay them ~7$/month

It has more steps to complete the setup, unchecking everything and reaching the final page of activation takes 4 steps but I say it is definitely Worth it. Give it a try. It took just $2.50 to complete the purchase and activation. Best to choose for a easy disposable SIM.

FreedomPop is great for a backup phone or for data on a tablet. Because it works more as a VOIP, the voice isn't the greatest. It helps me out in areas where Verizon has weak coverage.

Purchased this for my dad's unlocked Motorola phone. He doesn't use his phone all that much, so this plan was more than he needed per month. It seems to be based off AT&T/RedPocket, so reception is pretty good. I know some people have had issues with activation/monthly billing, but so far, I have had no issues. Even after the recent Freedompop changeover, they replaced the SIM but kept the plan. I use one as well for a back-up phone & never had service/billing issues on that line either.

With this SIM you get 200mb data, 200 mins, and 200 texts for free each month. I turn my data off since if you go over, you will be charged. I will mainly use it to make calls and a few text. You should download the FreedomPOP App so you can track your usage. You can also upgrade your service via the app for additional fee. Overall, a good deal if you just need to make a few calls and text.
