Customers are saying

Customers recognize the Global 3-in-1 SIM Card for its free service, which is convenient for those on a budget. Setting up the SIM card is also considered easy and manageable. However, some customers have expressed concerns about the data speed, as it is not LTE.

This global sim is a terrific deal if you jump through the hoops necessary to ensure free service. The process is easily found online. I had a couple of issues with the Best Buy purchase that were quickly resolved by Freedompop customer service. I'm looking forward to using these sims in Europe. Process for getting going is very straightforward.

Freedompop gives me free phone service

If you know how to work Freedompop you can get free reliable phone service in the US and abroad. This SIM card is better for non-US use, although it will work here. I used this SIM in Madrid in March for data only and it worked great all over the city. There's another Freedompop SIM which is for US only. It uses ATT as the carrier. I use that SIM and Google Hangouts for all my phone calls and texts. You have to put a bit of work into Freedompop, else you'll end up with some surprise charges. However there are lots of helpful blogs out there. With this and the now dead Ringplus I haven't paid for phone service for 3 or years.

I picked this up to use in an old flip phone. the hardware was too old, so it didn't work. after a month, I was able to locate newer hardware (still older) and was able to get the service going. so far no glitches or problems. I couldn't be happier. Planning on doing this with all of the phones on my plan and ditching our regular carrier.

I purchased the SIM with an unlimited talk/text and 2GB plan. Works perfectly since I’m literally always near WiFi. When i’m off WiFi, i’m probably driving and shouldn’t be on my phone anyway. Setup was fairly easy, but can get a little confusing if new to GSM and wanting to manage multiple SIMs on one phone.

Not free, does not accept all cc or debit

Okay, this is strictly about the product nothing against bestbuy itself. So I got the freedompop deal for a free sim with a free month of unlimited and get a second sim for .99 cents, it worked good the first month, better than textnow and a few others. But when it came time for the second month they tried to charge me, $20 for unlimited, then an extra $10 for "premium service" for the "free month". Well I would not have minded accept they do not accept American express for payments, but they will take anything to sell you the service, on top of the fact I had canceled the premium as soon as I activated my card since it was nothing I wanted anyways. So I contacted support and they told me neither of my sim cards were usable (I had not activated the second) unless I pay an extra $30 because I had gotten a paid plan they would not take it down to the free plan unless I paid for the first month, and started a second month of unlimited which I had to cancel to change the plan to the free one, plus I would not have to unlimited after I changed my plan even though I would have paid for a second month. Basically they wanted $60 to change my plan to free. So if you use them be sure you know all the details and do not be fooled by the "free" part. Customer service is rude and argues with you, and they will shut down all the sims on your account even the free ones if you have a paid plan and do not renew your paid plan. Really dissatisfied with this service.

My usage is generally very low, so I had been looking for a much cheaper alternative. Found exactly what I needed with FreedomPop. The only downside I can see is setting up may be a little difficult for older, less tech savvy folks... Like my mom.

Freedompop customer service is good. The actual cell voice service is spotty since it depends on the area and country you are in. The internet is OK in the areas that I have been.

Purchased for my Galaxy S6, works just as advertised. Set up was fairly easy with the instructions provided, will be porting my number within a month or so if everything continues on a good path.

Service was definitely better than expected, but I need an unlimited data plan. I can see this working for folks with low usage, but it wasn't for me.

this service is amazing. i've had it almost for a full month now, even though you get only 3g data for the Global sim card, it still feels like 4g. i get great service wherever i am at, and i can't wait to travel to germany using this sim card with free roaming!

    Very sporadic service

Initially everything seemed fine. Then started figuring out calls weren't getting through, texts were on extreme delays, and then every time they would update their app there would be a new bug ranging from only being able to calling and texting other freedompop users, to only being able to dial out when shutting off wifi, to call dialing out but hanging up on the party I was calling as soon as they answered. I know they call it 'beta' so they don't have to get good service, but trust me, it is really aggrevating and really bad after a while and the customer service folks are not particularly accessible with limited daytime hours only. It's cheap, but even at the prices available, it's simply not worth it.
