Great A/C unit! One minor flaw.

I purchased this A/C unit a couple of days ago since a heat wave was coming. It works great! I also love the fact that I can control it through my phone. So, if I am on my way home, I crank the A/C so that the house is nice and cool when I arrive. The only flaw that I have seen with this unit is that there is no water drain in the back. The directions want you to install the unit so that it is tilted backward away from the house so that water can drain properly. Well, there is no drain in the back of the unit. So, the water builds up to the point that the condenser fan inside the unit starts hitting the water and causing a popping/swishing sound. According to the owner's manual, this is a normal sound. But it really gets annoying when I'm trying to go to sleep. I thought about drilling my own drain hole, but it also states that drilling a hole in the back of the unit is discouraged and will void the warranty. So, I'm trying to figure out what to do. To drill a drain or to not drill a drain.

I almost decided not to buy this AC because of all the negative reviews about it being very loud. But I figured all AC's are loud so I can live with it in exchange for the nice appearance of this unit destined for my living room.
Well my experience so far - the unit is virtually SILENT! It mostly runs in Eco mode with Auto fan speed. When it cycles to low fan it gives off a light hummmm. At the higher speed the hum increases but nothing intrusive. Oh and above all it cools very well (though the peak summer hasn't arrived yet...time will tell).
Installed the app which replicates the remote control features onto the phone. It also adds scheduling which I doubt I'll use.
I am so pleased that I plan on getting the 5,000 BTU model for the bedroom now that I know first hand that it is an efficient, quiet, and good looking air conditioner.

Great AC unit. The ability to control the unit from my phone is so convenient.
I’m able to see the current room temperature and set the AC remotely.
It is a little loud but honestly I think all units are pretty loud. It’s very sleek, looks very nice for a window unit.

A lot better than I thought. Easy to use and it has a great design. I like how it shoots the air flow up rather than straight forward

This air conditioner was an excellent purchase for a hot summer. The energy and cooling efficiency is much better than portable units with an exhaust hose, so if it's physically possible to utilize this window unit, it is highly recommended.
Usually air conditioners aren't anything to write home about, but this one actually looks really good! The white and grey minimalist design, touch controls, and white LED lighting all make for a cool-looking unit.
A remote control is included, and there is also an app that performs similar functions to the remote. The app can be a bit glitchy, so I just use the remote.
A nice feature is that the cool air is vented upwards. Since we all know warm air rises and cool air falls, the room cools off much faster with better air circulation due to this design, as opposed to other air conditioners that blast out the air at face level and all the cool air doesn't really mix in with the other warm room air.
Since this is an energy-efficient unit, definitely check and see if your local utility company has any rebates available, here in Chicago there was a $25 one just sitting there for the picking.
The unit is well-damped for vibration and noise, with no rattling or weird sounds. The balance is pretty good, and I did not need to install any additional support brackets outside of my unit. Your results may vary depending on your situation.
Looks cool, runs cool, saves money. Definitely a good buy.

Love:
• WiFi capabilities I can control anywhere to help reduce energy costs/consumption
• looks nice as opposed to other units
• energy star compliant / rebate from my electric provider
• cools down room very quickly so it doesn’t have to run constantly
• relatively quiet
• pushes air out the top so it circulates air in the room better and doesn’t blow directly on me while sleeping but keeps the room cool
• comes with a lot of mounting additions to help reduce drafts from the window.
• if you have an Alexa, it can sync to your Alexa. I don’t so I cannot speak to how well it works.

This is probably the prettiest AC on the market and it works really well. My room is pretty big and isn't very well insulated. The Miami heat can do a number on my room and it can definitely keep up. My only problem is that the biggest reason I bought it was to connect it to my Google home but turns out that option doesn't exactly work anymore. It works with Google Assistant but not very well, so telling your Google home to turn it on and off is a very low chance that it will happen but you can have an app on your phone to change temp. A little disappointing because I really did want the voice activation system to work.

I downsized from a 10000 btu ac to an 8000 btu unit, due to the fact that the old one was so huge it required a small army to lift it and put in the window. This new Frigidaire is light (for it's size) and amazingly efficient and actually does a better job at cooling my entire downstairs than the older larger unit. It is also much quieter and has a more modern and attractive look. I highly recommend this to anyone,

The Good:
We’ve had this air conditioner for about a day and here’s what I have to say. It cools great! It blows air up and circulates it well throughout the room. I’m very impressed with it’s ability to almost mimick central air. This is much better than the Frigidaire we had that blew straight out front, but could aim up. Big difference here.
The Bad:
This air conditioner is loud! Besides the sound of the fan motor blowing, which is running a lot of the time (compressor or not), there is an annoying crackling sound that persists. It’s almost the same kind of sound that happens when water gets on an air conditioner fan outside, except it never stops. When the blower fan slows down it’s really noticeable and louder. It’s really annoying and I’m thinking of returning this unit on those grounds alone.
Dear Frigidaire, why spend all the time and money developing such a fancy, Internet controlled, good looking air conditioner only to have It sound like a train wreck? Get back to basics and nail them first. Make it do a great job cooling (which it does), be reasonably quiet, and then add all the other things that make it a premium unit.

Let’s face it, they don’t make ACs like they did back in the 80’s. You’d walk into the house and it would be ice cold. After having many ACs over the last two decades that couldn’t cool a room let alone a tiny one bedroom apartment, I was running out of hope. We had window ACs and portable ones. It was so hot last summer I slept with bottles of ice on a cooling mat on my bed. This was with an AC on. I refused to go through that again. I did a ton of research and finally decided on this one and let me tell you I’m glad I did. It’s no louder then any other AC actually it’s much quieter then any we’ve had in the past. The app to control it was pretty easy and hasn’t given me any issues. The remote is small and simple. It not only cools one room but keeps the other rooms in our apartment cool/comfortable. Sometimes it downright cold. Which it great! My only complaint is that the sliders on the sides aren’t far enough apart to the bar on the top that you screw into the window. We couldn’t completely slide the sliders into the window which I’ve never had an issue with in the past. We still made it work though. The sticky foam which came with the AC works great and was a pleasant surprise in the box. Speaking of the box I wish BestBuy had placed it into an actual shipping box when shipping it. Instead the only protecting the AC had was the regular manufactures box. You could see from the street that it was an AC and the exact one that it was. Not to mention the box was pretty destroyed. Any longer in the mail and it wouldn’t have made it.
All in all: I highly recommend this AC.

Air conditioner performs well. I would buy again if it lasts.
Relatively quite, cools well. Room is approx. 200 sq feet on a top floor with only 2 windows, facing SE.
Very convenient. Not nearly as sturdy as the 12 year old AC I am replacing, but maybe that is typical these days. The product was an excellent value with Energy Star and local utility rebates presently available here in NYC. Energry efficiency has a very good rating.
Lots of small things are not very good at all...I called Frigidaire one time so far, told them about the issues below and here is status.
1. Side window panels are flimsy, and do not match to the curved metal sides of the air conditioner (ABBR. AC) chassis, leaving gaps that need to be sealed. These gaps would let heat or bugs in. The panels have a plastic frame instead of metal and are not sturdy. The plastic sheet material inside the frame is thin and broke during installation. Frigidaire sent me a replacement set.
2. The mounting instructions are confusing, and with poor illustrations. I escalated when I did not obtain a good explanation. I did not hear back to date.
3. App could not setup AC with WiFi and gave an error message. Customer service did a hard reset of the AC and then it connected properly.
4. The product registration web site offers an extended warranty
for a higher price than a form inside the box. Customer service
indicated they would honor the lower price.
5. If I turn off the AC with the front panel power button and later turn it on again. The last temperature setting is forgotten, and it sets back to a default setting of 72 degrees.

... I can set it up when to turn on and turn off ... whenever I'm getting closer to home I can turn it on and my whole apartment would be cold
