These are high quality and super quiet as they don't appear to have any fan. However, because of this, I'd be careful to ensure each gets adequate ventilation so they don't overheat. Don't stack them and put a fan on them if it's hotter than 80F in the room they're in.In my experience, external drives like this easily overheat and that significantly shortens the time before failure.

I used this external hard drive to turn my Apple AirPort Extreme into a Time Capsule to automatically backup my home computers. Setup was simple and it works perfectly. I have more storage capacity than the largest Airport Time Capsule and can use the storage as a portable external hard drive if needed.

USB 3 is all you need. For the price difference of the thunderbolt drive it's not worth it.

of these external Hard Drives and they are excellent! I will continue to only purchase G-Technology external HD's because I have had great success with them for over 8 years.

We have used countless numbers of these on the television show we're currently shooting and they've performed great! Good read/write speeds and no failures yet.

Got this as storage for my photos and Lightroom images . Unit easy to install and load my entire library went in easily as have about 1000 new shots made recently.

Vert expensive, but these are the best drives for creative pros that need to be sure they have drives that last. There is a reason G-Drive are so popular for video and photo professionals.

Bought this to store my digital photo library. Only had it about two months, but it's doing it's job so far. Speedy and quiet.

Amazing how this little box holds more than I ever imagined. Making a film for a college assignment and it backed up the data flawlessly and quickly. The memory was more than enough and worked well with a Red camera.

I use these drives for time machine and other backups for each of my computers. They have been very reliable and last significantly longer than other brands.

The drive does not format properly for pc. Would not recommend buying this drive unless you plan to use for mac only.

Keep in mind that this hard drive is geared toward mac users. If you are a Windows user, you'll have to jump through a lot of hoops to get it set up. After a day of trouble shooting, I finally got my computer to recognize the drive. I haven't had any problems with it in the few months that I've been using it.

Another great G-Drive for backups and more.. we use these on video shoots for backing up data from Laptops and video cameras.

My daughter needed additional HD availability for her computer and this product fit her needs!
