    Nice Little Drive

I was looking for a new solid state external hard drive to gain the reliability of no moving parts to fail. I get tired of migrating data to a new drive every so often in anticipation of impending failure due to the moving parts that can eventually fail. I have also been migrating away from our desk top computer to a laptop and was looking for something with a smaller form factor. An added bonus of a SSD is no power block or wall wart as it is powered from the USB connection. I settled on this drive based on the highly rated reviews it gets. Moving my data from a traditional external hard drive to the G-Technology drive via my Mac Book Pro (a 2014 edition) went flawlessly and took a reasonable amount of time considering the amount of data to transfer. The design, style and construction of this little drive is impressive. I can't comment on long term reliability at this point however.

This drive is super fast, light and compact. It's a pocket size SSD drive and is excellent for traveling. I don't have to worry about keeping the drive still and on a flat surface like regular HD drives so I'm not freaking out about my files getting corrupt or the drive improperly ejecting. As well, it can be used with a Mac and PC. G-Tech is a great company and I have had there HD portable drives for years in college and professional gigs. I use them for editing and backing up footage. I haven't had a problem yet. I'll return to this review after some longer term use if I need to comment on it's reliability. I bought it on a Black Friday deal and so I'm happy with the value as much as its quality.

I purchased this drive to use a media drive for video editing on the go. Thus far the speed and reliability have been exactly what I was looking for. Sure it cost a little more than some of the others but at this point the price is worth the reliability and durability it brings with on the go editing and storage. If you are in the market for fast, reliable, durable storage that just happens to look great as well this is your best buy.

It's small, fast and very simply to use. I use if for storing and editing video and audio tracks. I'm able to do everything on it including video playback with no problems. With today's computers coming with such small drives this is the way to go for external storage at a good price. It's a great, portable, little drive.

I liked it but just didn't feel it was any faster than any other drives. I have a Macbook Pro and when I used this drive it showed up fast. Nice. However in the transfer of 100GB it still took just as long than any other external drive. The price is a little high for me for that amount of space. I love the feel of it. And so portable when traveling with other heavy equipment.

Still testing the drive. It has been about 3 months. So far no problems. I like this product, however, G-Technology products are sometimes a problem which is why I am skeptical. What I like: - Design - Performance (read and write) - Thermal dynamics - Size - Weight - Price. Good value for price per GB. What I don't like: - The USB-C cable is way too short In all, I recommend this drive. I will update my review if I run into any problems. I say all of this from the perspective of an IT person.

WOW! This SSD has been a powerhouse! I bought a small case on Amazon because I take it with me in my backpack everywhere my MacBook goes and it has been exactly what I need. It is pricey, but all SSD's right now are. IMO, though, it's well worth the price and I've been 100% satisfied. Highly recommended.

This SSD is amazing. I was shocked by the speed. Capacity is just right for my needs. I love the rugged design and that it has no moving parts. Even though it’s more expensive than hard disk drives, I would go with this again on the durability alone.

Was not expecting anything great with this drive but I have been impressed so far - used with USB3.x ports things are good but remember the speed of this drive is related to slowest device. From internal SSD to this drive, things move quickly. Copy across USB2 port, things are just like an average external USB drive. The USB3 cord is short but does not create a problem for my mobile work.

I use this for video editing on Dell Xps laptop. It is where I store raw videos and rendering videos from. Most are 4K footages. I see no difference in using this versus the builtin Samsung pro SSD. Highly recommended.

Bought this to run a separate OS on a an iMac. This SSD drive is used for video editing and backup files. This works magic. My only grow is that the included USB cable is only 3" long. You should get a longer cable if you need it, and in my case this was essential for getting the drive to sit where I wanted it.
