This GPS does everything but drive the truck. Only thing we haven’t figured out was the clock. Getting from one destination to another.

We purchased this unit before driving 10 hours with our 5th wheel to the campground. I have little experience with hauling a rig as large as ours (40’ length, 15’ height). We were concerned about low overpasses and bridges so when we did our research we were surprised at the number of options, both GPS units and phone apps, but were disappointed in the limited functions and poor nav capabilities of the phone/tablet based apps we tested. We finally broke down and dropped the money on the Garmin dezl and it was worth every penny. It safely routed us to our destination using the parameters we input for our rig. I was nervous throughout the trip because of the experiences with other nav apps but the Garmin worked beautifully. Save yourself the trouble if your hauling a big trailer and buy this unit. You won’t be sorry.

Great in all ways Garmin but needs the stick on disk to mount some place other than glass..and a longer usb data and charging cable since most new vehicles come with usb ports now but also keep the cigarette lighter charging cable also...large screen is nice and ability to add back up camera and Bluetooth connectivity Garmin iis the Best out there ffor ease of use!

Our last several vehicles had built in navigation systems, but we got the latest without one. With the Apple car play and Siri on an attached iPhone, we can get essentially the same sized display on the car screen, but it uses data . On a recent trip we punched in a couple of addresses using Siri and Apple CarPlay vs the Garmin.
Both were calling out directions virtually simultaneously. The Garmin added speed zone and curve warnings plus specific instructions to include turning right or left “at the traffic light”.
Although we even updated it when setting it up, there are always some restaurants or shops that have changed or gone out of business and not reported in the map updates.
I notice if I turn it on after it has been unplugged and turned off overnight, it takes awhile for it to acquire satellites.
Also, since the new car doesn’t have any large area with a smooth surface to stick the base with its suction surface, I basically set the base into a console cup holder.
Not quite as convenient as built in navigation system, but, several hundred dollars cheaper. It is a little too big to stick on windshield.
I got a kick out of it suggesting a rest stop after around an hour and a half drive. It I’d designed for use by truckers. We were looking at screen size.

I bought this system a few months ago when i started going over state lines for trucking. I use it just about everyday. It tells me where all the rest stops are, weigh stations and even tracks my speed for whatever highway I'm on. I had only one problem on the road when it told me to turn left to a location when it was in fact in the opposite direction. (It was taking me to its oringinal location instead of its new site which had opened a month prior).

Good for local route driver

I drive local routes and bump docks all day. Easy to use and seems to give routes that avoid low bridges, weight restriction roads, etc. Have not used the e-logs but it does have that feature available. It can also be used for cars. The user interface is very similar to an android phone which makes it easy to pick up and start using. It is annoying that for road closures and traffic you need you phone connected via Bluetooth but it does make the navigation a lot better and is necessary to have an effective product. If your phone is not connected it will take you through construction areas or up to road closures which can cause problems. The main reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because without connecting your phone it does not seem like a complete product. I feel like they could build that into the product since it runs android like phones do. Overall a good product for truckers.

Decided to grab this GpS since Rand McNally was having all the issues with date and time because of satellite reset from last year. So far, this GPS out performing the Rand McNally. Still learning about all the features it provides. From what I have seen and been able to use since putting in my truck. I’m 100% satisfied.

I first bought the model with the dash cam the 7in diesel and that one continually reset I called Garmin they had me do more updates still the same thing so that product I would not advise at all but this is basically the same model just to step down with no dash cam in this thing is absolutely fantastic works great has a lot of great features very durable definitely recommend I also did a lot of research with Rand McNally and I also had personal experience with TomTom and Garmin is the only way to go for the pros

While the Garmin does tend at times to take you the long way around. It is a route that is the safest. I have no problems with bridge heights at all. Sometimes I enter a address and Garmin can't find it. But it's voice command finds it everytime. This is a great feature.
