I picked this scale up the day it was released. Price-wise, a little steep for what you get, I'd wait until the price drops. As far as set-up goes, if you have a Garmin ant+ USB/stick, I'd go the over the computer route rather than through the Garmin Connect app for iPhone. I did it both ways (I actually factory reset it) and found that Garmin Connect over my browser was easier and less buggy than the app (it seems like the app has been buggy since it's recent overhaul). When I setup over the app, the app wouldn't immediately sync the weight info., when I did it over my browser, it seemed to sync to the app almost immediately. Maybe Garmin's servers were slow and the app was actually fine, maybe the factory reset had something to do with it. Regardless, it worked. Just an FYI, if you want to add additional users, the must have a Garmin Connect account. Adding my wife was easy, I sent her an invite to use the scale over Garmin Connect, she accepted and had to go through the setup process which was very simple. As far as it functions, all the metrics are consistent, no wild swings in their values. I still question how it can accurately measure some of the things that they claim the scale can measure, other than weight. A good product particularly if you live in the Garmin world (activity trackers, fitness watches, cycling computers), in which I do, which was a major motivator to get it.

Pros: weight is pretty accurate. Weighed the same on this scale as the scale at my Dr. office. Body fat % uses electrical pulses. Fairly close. Cons: weight numbers go up about 1/2 pound from final reading on scale. Hydration level stays the same no matter how much I drink. Still, for the money and interoperability between garmin devices, I'd buy again.

Love this product. Had been working out for a year and a half before I brought and was satisfied with my progress. This flipped my progress and showed I wasn’t anywhere near where I wanted to be. Took my fitness to another level. Now pushing %100 harder. Love how the readouts show me where I am lacking. And Garmin is a trusted brand. I already use the app and the Vivoactive 3 as my fitness tracker.

I switched from a Fitbit Aria to this Garmin and the additional functionality is great. It seems more accurate and better quality, plus the integration of my weight data with my other activity info makes more sense. If you have any Garmin device for training this is a must have. I took off one star because the weighting process still takes too long, in my opinion the process could be more streamlined. Still this is faster than the Aria, instead of 1 minute it takes about 40 seconds for every sample taken.

One of the best things I bought in 2015 if not the best thing! The way the flawless setup went and how it connects to all my garmin devices is truly a thing of wonder. And the option to have up to 15 people makes it easy to share this scale with my team mates and have their weight and other bio info added to their watches and edge devices. def worth the buy...maybe a best buy?

The scale works great. I don't know how accurate the reading are, but it is easy to read, gives additional information about body composition and was easy to set up. It works well with my Garmin APP and watch. I haven't gone online to check out any features, but wish I could put more than one name on the scale. My wife stands on the scale, and it shows up on my app. I'm sure if we bought another watch, we could separate the two, but with only one watch, I get a congratulatory message every morning at work for losing 30 pounds from the night before. The scale allows settings for up to 5 people. I just have to see how to add some without the data flowing to my phone.

If you need just a scale, then this is over priced and not necessary. If you're looking for complete fitness tracking, combining your steps, heart rate zones and activity with your weight loss results, then this scale is worth the price. Easy set up, works seamlessly, a great product.

We used a Fitbit Aria for a couple of years, but it died unexpectedly. We set out on a search for a new scale and looked at the Garmin one closely. Like many Garmin products, the firmware is a little glitchy when new hardware is released, so many of the initial reviews cited problems that have been since resolved. One of the things I like about the scale is its size. I have US 12 feet so many scales do not fit my feet. This one is perfectly sized for larger feet. Weight (and other body composition metrics) is quickly calculated and uploaded to Garmin. If you are a Garmin fitness user, you'll love that the weight is synced to watched via a smartphone. I haven't found much utility in some of the extra measurements the scale makes, but I did enjoy looking at them the first time. Perhaps these can be used for longterm trends, but time will tell on that.

This Garmin Index Scale is amaizing. I know I probably have a bit of body fat to get rid of, so being able to see what my body fat index actually is, is quite awesome. Not only does it show body fat, but it also shows bone mass, muscle mass, and body water. All this and I only have to stand on it for a few seconds. Setting it up was so easy, just pull it out of the box, put batteries in it, and click through the Garmin app. It initially connects through Bluetooth, but will connect through wi-fi so one doesn’t have to have their phone nearby each time it’s used. My only drawback was that it too me so long to decide to buy this scale, I should have bought it years ago. After pulling it out of the box and setting it up to find all these awesome metrics, the first thing I did was jump back online and order another one for a friend. This scale is absolutely awesome!

I had a BMI scale before that was very hard to program. The Garman BMI smart scale easily connect to your Wi-Fi at home Garman devices and smart phone. It records on my computer wirelessly and is more accurate . You can easily switch from users with a tap of your toe.

I always refused to spend the cash for a smart scale. I mean hey you can still get one for 25$ that tells you weight just fine. But I bought this with it and my Fenix5x I have been ultra motivated to keep working on my body. Great product connects to the app and has a ton of info.

Measures all you would want a good body scale to measure. Accurate and reproducible. Links up to Garmin app and account/portal via wifi and keeps track of weight, fat, bone, water, etc %s (multiple people) over long periods of time. Expensive, keeps only one (most recent) measurement per day per person. Look elsewhere if you have non-Garmin fitness devices

Not really, but the weight it gives is pretty accurate. The display shows your weight to the tenths, but in the Garmin app it shows it down to the hundredths. I'm still a little skeptical about the other measurements it provides, specifically the body fat percentage, but I'm still happy with the fact that I don't need to manually log my weight in my Garmin app anymore.

I've been meaning to get a new scale for a while now, but I was never sure which to get. I moved to the Garmin fitness ecosystem about a year ago with a Forerunner 230 to track my runs. When I ended up with a bunch of Best Buy Rewards, I figured I finally needed a new scale, so I gave this one a shot. I've been really, really happy with this scale. It works quickly and uploads data automatically, which means I'm a lot more likely to get on the scale. I usually end up forgetting the weight I measured before I got this scale, so putting it into Garmin Connect was a pain. This scale usually has the value uploaded before I even have seen all of the measurements it took! Boy, what a lotta measurements this scale takes, too! Weight, Body Fat %, Lean Mass, Bone Mass...I'm missing a couple. It's a lot of stuff. Now, the galvanic body fat % measurements are not as accurate as professional sports labs will get. If you care that much, go to a sports lab. For me, this is good enough. My only gripe about this scale is that it shows that I put on 7 pounds when I was recovering from an injury during the holidays. Darn accuracy...

I have Garmin everything from Fenix 5, edge 1000 and use their app frequently. I decided to switch from Fitbit to this scale to measure my weight and various other factors. Setup was easy as long as you use the Garmin Connect app. Once you hop onto the scale it calculates your weight. BMI, bone mass and something else. I’m used to Fitbit scale telling me how much BF I have so this is new experience for me. One thing I don’t like about the scale are the plastic feet you attach to the bottom. I couldn’t get them in right and they wobble and fall off. The scale is well built and looks like it will last. If you use Garmin apps I recommend this scale.

Had a fitbit scale and use a garmin watch to track activity and this is a huge improvement. If you use a garmin fitness tracker this is your scale. It also provides the most information I have seen from a wireless scale. Only complaint is that being black it's hard to keep dripping water spots clean, and if not cleaned often it can cause a slightly inaccurate body fat reading but not enough to be scary odd.
