I brought the Garmin Montana 700 to use on my hiking treks and ATV. The large display was a must for me and the ability to be viewable in bright sun light. Its nice to be able change mode types like walking, hiking, biking, off-road and others. Works well with GPX files. Lots of options for downloadable maps. One of my favories maps is the Garmin HuntView Parcel. It allows you to see property lines on the map. This is great so you don't unknowingly trespass onto someones land. Just a couple of cons - the interface is a little slow and somewhat outdated. Overall a great GPS!

    Great Larger Screen GPS

A great larger screen GPS. You can add your own maps as well using garmin express or your own SD card. I was able to get a 128gb SD card to work even though Garmin says limited to 32gb. I formatted the SD card in FAT (MS-DOS) not exFAT. This limits file size to 4GB but most maps are smaller than that. If you mount the SD card on your computer you can copy the maps onto your SD card directly and then go into map setup on the Montana and turn them on. I did this to download free TOPO maps from outside the US. NOTE: The Montana 700 will only allow maps you purchase from Garmin or UNLOCKED topo maps from other sources. Also DO NOT subscribe to the Maps + subscription from Garmin. They only allow a small area to be selected each time and don't download correctly. It is not worth it.

Great GPS for people who love the outdoors. Easy to use and very accurate, I’ll be using this on my UTV and while hunting and fishing.

Garmin Montana 700 -- not able to connect to Varia

I bought this device to use for multiple activities: Bicycling, hiking, hunting, canoeing, etc. I wanted a large screen for bicycling. I bought a mount that fits on the handlebar from a third party manufacturer. The maps and course/creating-following functions on the map work well. However, it does not connect to the Varia lookback radar that Garmin sells. This is very disappointing to me. Now my radar serves just as a rear-facing blinking light, Not sure why Garmin opted not to include the radar capability on the Montana 700, but this customer is very disappointed that they didn't.
