had problems

Maps took almost two hours to load and had to do it twice. Software didn't contain a prompt to ask which map to download during setup and downloaded wrong maps. Spent 2 hours with their customer service because of problems with maps and no updates. Still doesn't have as updated maps as other newer Garmins have. Also, all favorites came up half in english and half in Chinese.

OK Update

I like the Garmin a lot, but my original GPS from early 2008 was out of date. I got the update, but a few things that have been around for a few years, didn't show up in this update. It is OK, but I don't think particularly current or particularly good. There is no way i pay $70 for this update, which is what Garmin wants. I would have just bought a new GPS. If you can't get it cheap - mine was about $37 with shipping, just get a new one.

This is a new install of 2010 maps the customer before did not understand this, it takes much longer to download and install if this was a download I know this from first-hand exerience it takes a hour plus to download and about a hour to install depending on your computer speed. This a good price for this map I just did mine and it is working as it should.

Disappointed

I bought my Garmin Nuvi GPS in early 2007. I was a little disappointed that recent road work in my neighborhood was not shown (existing roads were moved, new roads added), also my brothers and parents roads in new developments were not shown. These roads were from 2005-2006. Since the OneTIme upgrade was on sale I got it and installed it. It took a long time, about 2 hours. Imagine my disappointment when the local roads that were wrong in 2007 were STILL wrong in 2010 ! Also my brothers street was STILL missing. My parents street was added correctly. Garmin support basically said "we don't care - fill out the problem form and *maybe* it will be corrected next time you buy a map upgrade - but we don't promise anything however". Since the price for the data is about 1/3 the price of a new GPS; this is very disappointing.

2010 nüvi maps update

The update is a steal for the price. The DVD and code give you access to web update. The USB is still the bottle neck to load your nüvi. Download with broadband still takes over a hour, dial up, I feel your pain. Once files are on your computer they have to make it to the nüvi via usb cable, speed to 480Mbps. Just remember it's "6 million points of interest; North America base map coverage" the SD card update has to stay in to work, not a file transfer scenario.

Worth it if the price is right

I bought myself a new 255W on Black Friday and gave my one year old 205W to my daughter. At a typical selling price of about $79 it is not worth it. A new 205W is now selling for $99. At $39 it was worth it to make sure my daughter had up to date maps. By the time I want to upgrade again, there will probably be a better GPS I'll have my eye on. One minor bonus with the upgrade is that even though the 205W originally only had USA maps, the upgrade installed both USA and Canada maps, like the 255W.

Appealing Price, Not Current

This is an incomplete product. It purports to be a map update when in fact it's more like a link to map updates. The Disk offered online updates and then presented with 254 files that needed to be downloaded! Ridiculous.

Worked well but it took about 3 hours to download it.
