I researched different wearables for quite a while and reached the conclusion that the Garmin Vivosmart HR had everything I wanted. After having it for a while now, I still must say I love it. The notifications are great, it's easy to navigate and use, rugged and waterproof, and best of all I only charge it for 30min or so every couple of days and I am good to go.The HR is off by only a couple bpm in my testing using a physiological monitor at the hospital I work at.

I purchased this product after a review of pros and cons from the Best Buy rep who stated that his wife found it more accurate than other brands and more user friendly. I agree! This Garmin was very easy to set up and syncs easily with the app. The charge lasts 3-5 days
I have 2 downfalls with the product. It is a little bulky, especially if you use the sleep app. I also have problems connecting it to the charger. It is very simple, but causes me problems.

I love this tracker! I actually bought this one and the Fitbit on the same day to do a true side-by-side and I fell in love with this one right on off the bat! It’s super easy to use (I mean fool-proof), accurate and truly is waterproof. You cannot go wrong with Garmin. They outshine Fitbit in a second!

After my original vivosmart died on me after 14 months of use, I was in the market for a new tracker. On paper, the Vivosmart HR had everything I was looking for, accurate step and heart rate tracker, waterproof, in inconspicuous colors. As someone who doesn't wear watches or much accessories, I wanted something muted and would stay out of my way, especially during dance class and volleyball. With the addition of the HR monitor, I very quickly realized this was much bulkier than my original vivosmart. Being on my company's volleyball team, I was further saddened by how the ball would skew whenever i had this on. Even turning the tracker inside out so the heart rate monitor measured against my pulse felt strange, uncomfortable even. As a petite person, the tracker also felt huge against my wrist, which took quite a bit getting used to. The band is comfortable, however, so this was something I quickly got used to...how the monitor stood out, however, I did not like. Ultimately, I ended up returning this tracker and am in the market for another.
That being said, I am still a fan, but would recommend something slimmer for myself. Vivosmart HR is still a smart device, one better attuned for someone who does not play volleyball or any contact sports as I do.

I bought the Garmin - Vivosmart HR Activity Tracker + Heart Rate to measure how steps I take throughout the day but after having it for just one week I wear it instead of a watch. I really like that it measures my steps, tracks my sleep pattern and also my heart rate. It is also looks good too.

I was tired of using the chest strap heart rate monitors and was looking for an alternative. I first tried the FitBit Charge HR which worked good, but I didn't care for the display having to tap the screen each time I wanted to see the HR when exercising. Decided to try the Garmin Vivosmart HR. The display is easy to read and maneuver through, Heart rate readings were accurate when measured against the Fitbit and the chest strap HR monitor.
Battery life is good, with heart rate on auto, I get 4 to 5 days, if I turn the HR monitor off when not needed I can get an additional day. The Garmin Connect App is good, but I would like to see the HR data more readily available on the snapshot page. I like that I can sync info to the Endomondo App because workout history information better displayed and you can collect GPS info if you are carrying your phone during the activity. It would be better if I could sync real time and not have to wait for the activity to end and be saved before info is transmitted.

I got this for my fiance for Christmas and he loves it. Unlike my fitbit charge hr his actually tracks his heart rate accurately! We believe it tracks steps well as well. The only thing we can't comment on is the smart notifications because the watch wouldn't sync with his phone. He plans to buy a new one phone after we get a new computer. We are both using Garmins now (I have the vivoactice) and we personally love the app, it is very detailed. It truly shows you so much information! The only negative is that you can't track food right on their app but it does sync seamlessly with my fitness pal. Love Garmin!

I really enjoy this tracker. It features a wireless battery that easily charges in about an hour, but lasts for about 4-5 days. It tracks steps, stairs, intensity workout minutes, sleep patterns, and can pair with your phone via bluetooth to see text messages and emails. I like how it can even be used to find your phone if you misplaced it in the house. My only con is, as with lots of other trackers, the tracking on stairs can sometimes be so-so since I can be standing still and sometimes it says I reached my elevation goals.

I love the stair counter!
I will say that this watch has to be warn a bit tighter and higher than I typically do because of the heart rate monitor. It took some getting used to but I don't really notice it now (about 3 weeks into owning it)
I wish I could still manually set it for sleep because I do find myself having to edit sleep in the app a couple of nights per week. It is amazingly accurate on the nights it is right but I must be really lazy some nights because it puts me as sleeping extra early sometimes.
All in all, I am happy with this watch.

Thank you for your review and feedback. We appreciate the chance to provide some information regarding the sleep detection on the vívosmart HR.
The vívosmart HR uses automatic sleep detection, so it does not feature a manual sleep mode. Using Garmin Connect, you can set the hours in which you typically sleep. This helps the vívosmart HR's sleep detection by letting it know roughly when to start looking for the lowest period of inactivity.
If a manual sleep mode is a feature you'd like to see added in the future, please submit a feature request to our design team: http://j.mp/GRMNIdeas

I was torn between the Fitbit and Garmin and some others, but if I am going to wear something that is on my wrist I want to see a clock on it. Also without spending over $200 on it as well. The HR (Heart Rate) is not that accurate, but I found when you turn it around and put the sensor on the BOTTOM PART of your WRIST, it tracks it a lot better.
It does not track the Stair Tracker very well also. I climb a lot of stairs in my job, and I know I easily do over 10 stairs in a day and it does not always track it accurately.
While on a Elliptical it also does not track the right distance you make go. i.e. I did over 2 miles on an Elliptical and did it around 20 mins, and it only tracked that I did .83 miles in that 20 min period, which is inaccurate. Then I have to go back in the app software and input the miles and time manually. I have yet to try this on a treadmill yet.
Wasn't the point of this thing on wrist to track what I do. I know there has to be some percentage lost due to inaccuracy but over 50%...Come on...
I like the backlit feature and like the band from my wives vivo fit as well.
The notifications are kinda nice also when your getting a text you can read it really quick, or answer a call from your wrist.
Nice band, but this is my first tracker, so I can only report on what I have.

Thank you for providing us with your feedback. I’m sorry to hear about the inaccuracies that you experienced with your vívosmart HR. I would like to take a moment to address some of the concerns you mentioned within your review.
A few guidelines should be followed to ensure the best possible accuracy when using the vívosmart HR’s optical heart rate sensor, which can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/1N7Bvdt. With regard to your step/stair inaccuracies, the vivosmart HR has a built-in barometer that measure changes in elevation as stairs are climbed. The device will need to measure at least 10 feet of elevation change in order to display floors climbed. The following FAQ may be helpful, as it explains why an Activity Tracker may not accumulate steps while working out: http://bit.ly/1vHEFYc.

Cracks/chips in screen

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I really like the product - especially being able to wear it while swimming and keeping track of my heart rate. I'm sure the heart rate is not perfect, but it is close enough. I also like tracking my sleep, although sometimes this is off - start/end time not accurate.
My biggest complaint is I have NEVER banged the screen, yet it continues to develop cracks and small chips. I am a 62 year old female who swims and runs - I have never smacked the screen or dropped the watch. The first cracks started after sunbathing on a very hot day. So I can only guess that the screen does not handle high temperatures. When I asked about replacement, Garmin said I abused the watch - WRONG! I have never mistreated this watch!
I will wear this until it finally is unreadable due to the cracks or until it fails due to water damage leaking in through the cracks. Then, I will hope an improved model is available. I have recommended it to others, just hope they don't expose it to high temperatures!

Received this watch as a gift last year as a gift and forgot to review but that means I can give a real review. This watch has not disappointed me once! The battery lasts 4-5 days and charges in just over an hour. The ease of use is so basic we had Mom get one and she loves it! The steps and stairs are so accurate and stop watch feature is great. Even has alarms that has a vibrate option. The software has improved greatly over the past year and works with food tracking software. If you turn on your Bluetooth on your phone, you can view text messages, see who's calling, answer or ignore calls and even start you tunes! Did I tell you I love my Garmin watch?? Only thing I can say that disapointed was how the display glass scratched, but I was pretty active and hard on it.

Huge fitness enthusiast here and I have to say this tracker is by far my favorite. I love the weather and alarm feature. The deciding point between this tracker and many others was the ability to go under water. It has been great for monitoring my heart rate and activity. It was a huge plus to see I could get notifications on my phone as well! The heart rate monitor isn’t always the most accurate, during cardio it is within 5 beats of my chest monitor. Lifting is a totally different story; don’t ever expect to have an accurate reading when you are doing any anaerobic activity. If you are looking for dead on heart rate monitoring, you shouldn’t even bother looking at anything but chest strap monitors. Overall great purchase for the price, especially with all it is able to do.

Great step and stair tracker. Love the heart rate monitor and graph. The charge last about a week which gives me a chance to recharge on the weekend. It would be better if it gave a low battery warning before it was almost completely dead.

This tracker is wonderful for anyone who is considering getting back into exercising. I use it for walking and running, and all you have to do is press a button, and it will record your time per mile and distance traveled. I love the feature that sends notifications, its nice not to have to pull out my phone! The heart rate monitor does respond well when you are working out, but know that all activity trackers will never accurately measure heart rate if you wear it on your wrist, you will only get an approximate measurement! The Garmin app is ok, you do have to do a little digging to get some of the numbers, but you can pair it with other apps to help monitor your caloric intake, which is nice. I love the color of the band and am very happy I chose this tracker!!

So far in just a few weeks there have been four software updates which have corrected many of the 1st issues. Heart rate seems to be very accurate. Stairs seem to be a hit or miss. Intensity minutes are good for workouts and are also accurate. The app used for mine is IOS and after an update works well. Over all very happy with the performance and the key fact it is waterproof.
