I like the look of this trash compactor. You just need to be careful when closing it tonight get your fingers stuck. It works really well, I just wish it was a little bit more quiet.

Good compactor. We really like our last one(16 years old) better because it had a super mash mode where it did extra compression. This one doesn't compress as much.

The compactor works perfectly fine. Its quiet. Unfortunately there are two deficits. First, its slower than our old Kenmore compactor. Second, there is no caddy or handle for removing the bag and carrying out to the trash. The Kenmore had a plastic sling with handles that went under the bag and helped to lift and carry it out. This machine has nothing.

I've owned one for 29 years but only working for 19, i missed having to take the trash out weekly so we decided to purchase another. i can't believe the prices! I really like this model but, just wish they offered it in a different color. I read lost of opinions about the door not opening out enough, i just have the back slightly higher than the front and the door opens 3/4 of the way. I also sprayed silicone mist on the trac and it slides beautifully. It is not loud when running and it is very east to use, i like the hidden controls as my 3yr old grandson is with us 50% of the time. I've only had it for about 1 months but very pleased with it. big box competitor compactor bags are the bomb and fit great.

This GE trash compactor is reasonably priced compared to other similar stainless steel compactors on the market now. Because compactors are not as popular as in the past because of modern recycling protocols a home trash compactor, while dollar-for-dollar more expensive compared to other appliances, still is a useful tool to have in your kitchen. This unit has a full stainless steel face w/o showing its brand name so it blends right in with all our other KitchAid appliances. We have been very pleased so far withs its performance and ease of use. It's a slide-in and was pretty simple to install and set-up.

    Run Away

I hate this trash compactor so much. I never thought I would like having a trash compactor. Then we bought a house that had one and I loved it. Really loved it. Then it broke. Boo. It was 15 years old and the parts were no longer available so we had to replace it. This model looks really good - until you try to use it. Because it has no handle you have to either close it with your knee or with your hand. So it ALWAYS has finger prints all over the top. Ugh. It's also so loud. I read other reviews and wonder about whiny people. I mean it's a trash compactor so it will make noise, right? This is REALLY loud. Like I can't run it when my kids are in bed loud. It's crazy. We thought we would like the foot pedal. It seems like a great idea. Use your foot and toss the trash in. The problem is that the door just barely opens enough to get your fingers in. I can't use my foot to open the door then toss my eggshells in (for example). I have to use my foot to unlock the unit, then use my fingers to open the door. I hate this machine. Run away.

I know that trash compactors have gone out of style over the past years, but I don’t understand why. Instead of constant trips out to my trash cans, and needing to put multiple cans out at the street due to inefficient, half empty bags, my trash compactor saves me trips, saves me cans and makes great use of space in my kitchen. This GE is the exact dimensions to fit in right where a cabinet door used to be. It fits flush with the other cabinets and is quiet and effective. I’m a huge fan!

It works so I am happy about that. It is loud and has a tendency to start itself whenever the drawer is closed after placing garbage in it. It also likes to start itself if it is jarred for any reason. For the price, it seems not as sturdy as the ones I have had previously. But, whatever my issues with it are, it works and that is the bottom line.

We bought this GE trash compactor to replace a GE compactor to go with all our other GE appliances. The door does not close well. While the compactor is level, the door is not. There’s no way to adjust the door. We unscrewed the brackets and moved it out some so the door doesn’t hit the cabinet. It works better than before, but the price we paid, it should be built better.

Bought this GE slide in trash compactor to blend in with our new KitchenAid appliances. It's much less pricey than the KitchenAid one, looks fantastic in stainless steel and has no brand name showing so it's fits in seamlessly . Plus, it works just great so far and we used it most every day for almost a year!

I loved the in home consultation and the explanations the Designor gave me as we looked at my existing trash compactor. I like the step on the bottom pushing down to open and pulling up to compact. So far no problems. I have used a trash compactor daily for over 30 years and love them.

I have had a compactor for 30+ years. I know they have fallen out of favor, but I love it-no nasty open trash cans sitting out or in a cabinet. Plus, I am not always taking the trash out. A bit pricey now, but well worth it.

Easy to use and to take out the trash on trash day. 5 people use this and the trash is only required to be removed once a week. What a space saver and great for the environment. Looks sleek and the hands free use makes it easy to not contaminate your cooking environment.
