I've been using the GE 350 Sq. Ft. 8,000 BTU Smart Window Air Conditioner for a year now, and overall, it's been a solid addition to my home. The 8,000 BTU rating is perfect for my space, effectively cooling my room which is approximately 300 sq. ft. On particularly hot days, it manages to maintain a comfortable temperature without any issues. The cooling is consistent, and the fan modes provide a good range of airflow options.
One of the standout features of this air conditioner is its smart capabilities. The WiFi connectivity allows me to control the unit remotely using the app, which is incredibly convenient. I can turn it on or off, adjust the temperature, and set schedules all from my phone. This has been particularly useful for ensuring my home is cool when I arrive after a long day. In terms of noise, it's relatively quiet for a window unit. On the lower settings, it’s hardly noticeable, and even on higher settings, it's not overly disruptive. It’s suitable for both day and night use without causing significant disturbances.
This model seems to be energy-efficient, as my electricity bills haven’t spiked significantly since I started using it. The energy saver mode is a great feature that cycles the fan and compressor to maintain the set temperature, reducing energy consumption. The design is sleek and modern, fitting well into my window without being an eyesore. Installation was straightforward, though it's definitely a two-person job to ensure it’s securely in place. The included remote control is handy and works well, allowing for easy adjustments without needing to use the app. The display on the unit is clear, and the buttons are intuitive. After a year of use, the air conditioner is still running smoothly without any issues. It has proven to be reliable, and the build quality appears durable enough to last for several more years.
In conclusion, the GE 350 Sq. Ft. 8,000 BTU Smart Window Air Conditioner has been a reliable and efficient cooling solution for my home. Its smart features, ease of use, and performance make it a worthwhile investment. If you’re looking for a window air conditioner that offers modern conveniences and solid performance, this model is definitely worth considering.

originally did not think about Best Buy for air conditioner. Could not find one at the big hardware stores so I checked here, not only did they have what I needed but it was a great price.
This is exactly what I needed for my new building I am using as on office. I could have probably got away with the 6000BTU unit but this building is a lofted barn style and has high ceilings so I really wanted the 8000.
The install was easy with a great tutorial video on the website. The machine is much more quiet than I was expecting which is awesome. It works great, and does not need to run constantly even on the hottest days. Very happy with this purchase. Even comes with a remote!

Installed in second story 18’ x 16’ room, 288 sq ft and of course heat rises. Unit installation was easy and came with plenty of insulating materials. Powerful fan and cools quickly. Not too loud and equipped with many features. This is an Energy Star rated unit and very cost effective/efficient. Later review will provide a cost of operating analysis. This was installed in a vinyl replacement window and required an additional 1 1/2” board the width of the window to sit the unit upon.

Honestly when I first set up the AC I right away wanted to return it BUT glad I didn’t. At first i was upset that the coolest it went was 64 degrees not 60 but I see now that it’s no big deal at all. When I first turned it on it took about 20 minutes to actually get it blowing very cold air now it’s very fast to cool when I turn it on. I alone installed it while my husband was at work, took me maybe 30 start to finish that’s with taking it out the box and setting it up. I did at first think it wasn’t as quite as my old AC but now that it’s been installed and running I don’t mind the sound at all I hardly notice it now. And the front panel with the buttons and temp number do light up but turn off after a couple minutes so it’s hard to know if it’s on or off when I have it on energy saving mode and it turn on and off automatically. But then again I don’t mind cause it’s in my room as it’s a light I don’t have to worry about because I do enjoy pitch black room at night so I’m completely fine with it. The AC does cool down my room in minutes! I enjoy that and I really like being able to turn it on and off using the app on my phone I’ve already turned it on while I was out running errands so when I got home my room was already nice and cool. So yes I did judge to soon but now I am happy with my purchase and it definitely gets the job done. I just hope it last me longer than a year but I will be buying warranty for it just in case because this is my first time buying GE AC. Another note my windows are horizontal and it fits and works fine I did just have to purchase the clear acrylic sheet to feel the space on my window.

I ordered online last night and picked up this afternoon. It's a hot/humid day, so I was excited to get it home, unboxed, and in the window.
The unit is a nice size - not too big, not too small. This is for our family room, which is probably between 400 and 450 sf and with high ceilings. I knew this might be pushing the limits for this unit, but I did not want a monster size heavy unit that would be a pain to put in and take out every year.
The noise level is not bad at all. I was somewhat concerned by some of the reviews that say it's too loud. Maybe because the room is larger, the noise had more space to dissipate? Maybe my hearing is simply in decline? Whatever, it was not too loud for me at all.
Setting up the wifi was painful. The SmartHQ app is slow and "handicapped". Getting the unit into wifi setup mode was also difficult, probably taking me between 5 and 10 attempts. One thing to try if you're having difficulty - put your phone into airplane mode and then enable wifi - essentially turning off the cellular signal. Setup in the app seems to work better that way. In the future, it would be nice to see GE make this compatible with Cync and so I'd have all of my GE smarthome devices in a single app. I do have it in Google Home, so we'll see how well that works.
As far as functionality, the unit does blow a good volume of cold air. As I mentioned, I put it in a larger room, and it did slowly bring the temperature down, so we're happy.
Take note of the max width - the extension panels are quite flimsy. We put this in a very wide window, at 43 inches, so I took the extension panels off, and just cut some wood to size to perfectly fit the side spaces.
Lastly, after I finished installing, testing, and was happy, I go online, and see that the price on the website had dropped by $10 - less than 24 hours later. So, I opened chat to customer support. I gave the info and within a couple minutes they had issued a refund for the difference.
So, I have to say, at this point, this was a great purchase all around. I did not want to purchase this item from the online behemoth - if there was a problem with the unit, I wanted the ability to physically bring it back and not deal with shipping and headaches for a return. I know that I can count on Best Buy to make my life easy on that front.

This air conditioner is great. I was worried admit at first and went back and forth on brand to buy. My LG went on me 1 year after buying so I didn’t want to get again, decided finally on trying this particular GE with smart WIFI. Was hard because there’s a few different models and reviews of others discouraging. As all have different opinions and experiences of course. Am very happy with my decision, the WIFI works perfectly, set up easy, installation very easy, did it all by myself and I’m a 58 year old woman, Love display, nice looking AC, And cooled my living room quickly and hall and kitchen too in apartment. (Was 80 degrees when turned on). Is now 68. And very quiet! No rumbling noise as others had or humming, no turning up tv to hear, it’s great. Never disappointed thank you.

Third floor AC went out (not completely, but only blows cool air not cold) and needed something until it was fixed, this little unit saved the day! We have a finished attic that’s around 500 to 600 sqft and when used with a fan to circulate the air the unit has kept it cool. It’s been about 7 years since I lasted used a window unit and for the price this GE is really impressive. I haven’t used the connected feature so I can’t speak on that, but it’s nice that it has it. In terms of noise, its a window unit! None of the them that I’ve experienced are quite, but it’s not that bad. It also comes with ample foam insulation which is nice. If you have a house or apartment where you use window units, this model is a solid buy.

So glad I picked this up especially while it was on sale curb side during The Covid. Easy install and set up of the smart feature which controls from your phone of from your Alexa. Remote control is easy to use and also has Braille. Very efficient and fast cooling. Will be getting another to replace other ones I have.

Disappointing Durability - AC Unity's Short-Lived
|

Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed.

I purchased the AC Unity unit with high hopes, drawn in by its promise of convenience with its Wi-Fi connectivity and remote control features. Initially, the unit performed admirably, keeping my room cool and comfortable. However, my satisfaction was short-lived as the unit's performance began to deteriorate after just two years of use.
One of the most glaring issues that arose was the unbearable noise emitted by the unit. What was once a quiet and efficient appliance transformed into a disruptive presence in my living space. Concerned about the sudden change, I sought professional advice and was disheartened to discover that the internal components had succumbed to rust. Despite attempts to lubricate the parts, the noise persisted, making it impossible to ignore.
Living with a constantly loud AC unit, especially in a room where I rely on peace and quiet for restful sleep, became an unbearable situation. Regrettably, the AC Unity unit that initially brought me joy and comfort now stands as a symbol of frustration and disappointment.
So the rapid decline in performance and the subsequent noise issues have led me to the decision to part ways with the AC Unity unit. Its failure to maintain functionality beyond a mere two years leaves me with a sense of dissatisfaction and a cautionary tale for those considering a similar purchase.

I bought 1 for my house and it works so good I end up buying another one for my son's apartment and it makes a huge difference in both of our places. I love the app I can set it up to turn it on when I want to and turn it off when I need it to so I don't forget
. I highly recommend this unit..

TDLR: if your window is tilted downwards, expect some drizzle!
So this AC is pretty nice. I like that you can control it from any smart device and it cools the room so quickly. However, within the first few days of use, it was starting to shoot water out of the front of it (like where the air blows out of)
It was like tiny little droplets but after running it through the night my floor was soaked. And this continued for a few weeks.
I think the problem was my window is tilted downwards slightly so the water was rolling to the front instead of dripping from the back. I had to tilt it upwards, leaving two gaps between the ac and the window which sucks but what can you do. It seemed to have fixed the problem.
Overall though I'm happy with it and it doesn't consume much energy!

I love this AC! It runs like a little powerhouse! We’ve had it going a continuously for two months and it’s performed very well in a 1055 square foot house with fans.
I did notice yesterday that there’s a bunch of water in the bottom of the exterior part of the unit that hasn’t been there before & it has not rained. It caused some rust on the exterior of the outside of the unit from water drops hanging on to the unit
I’m going to contact the warranty department to make sure that that’s normal.
The only other thing I noticed is where the insulating foam is attached to the interior shell of the exterior section of the unit. There’s a small part of the foam that is not attached completely & there’s a little brown smudge, possibly rust.
I’m going to look to see what that is as well, but other than that, I love it!

I would definitely recommend these as I can control them from the app even when I'm at a different house. I would also recommend getting the larger BTU unit, as the physical dimensions of the 12,000 unit are the same as the 8,000 unit. The remote is very basic, and it takes two clicks (or two remote button presses) to get it cranked up, but over all, these are good units.

My room used to be a SAUNA. I finally got tired of it did some research and stumbled upon this unit. It had good reviews so i took a chance, and i am not disappointed. If i forget to set it on a timer it gets colder than Antarctica in here. Just for reference my room is 12 feet by 20 feet so it should have no problem with a room slightly larger.
