I mainly got this trash compactor to match my Samsung dishwasher. They coordinate wonderfully! It has been working perfectly. It is a bit loud...but it is a trash compactor!! I like that you can pull up and out on the handle as well as use the foot pedal.

Upgraded all kitchen appliances to Stainless, so we had to replace a 2 year old white trash compactor. I selected this one because the styling best matched the other appliances. Fit perfectly in cabinet. Too new to report about durability, but I'm presuming it will be fine based on the way it's worked for the first week. Delivery people were very helpful and professional. I had to purchase trash compactor online as there weren't any in the store. Original trash compactor was installed in our new home 37 years ago at my husband's request so he wouldn't have to carry out trash so often. Now that there's a hole for it in my kitchen cabinets, I'm committed to keep a compactor because it's cheaper than new cabinets.

The trash compactor works as expected. The bin is larger. However the installation instructions were a bit confusing.

I was so disappointed at the price of trash compactors. Although I must say that GE probably had the most competitive prices. And it is a very attractive item.

I don't know how this compactor works. I told the salesman that I wanted a compactor that was a stand alone because it probably would not be built in. He sold me this one which has to be built in. There was no way for me to tell by looking at the picture or the box, it said so on the instruction booklet that was packed inside the box. It is going back.

This compactor is a replacement for one that lasted us over twenty years. Any compactor is a great addition to a kitchen and this one no exception. Simple operation and clean appearance fits nicely into our existing kitchen.

just got it installed today, can't wait to start using it..was so tired of the trash can in my kitchen ... so glad to have it compacted and under the cab only able to do this cause of the remodel...

I know it is old fashion to have a t ah compactor but it is really great with a busy kitchen

Very very tinny. Not like my old one of ten years. My old one was solid and strong, this is not. Quality on all appliances now is horrible. This is no exception. The aluminum is soo light it sounds like tin everytime you open and close this. Not a great product. It doesn't match the dishwasher and frig. either. A mat finish and the others are high gloss?? Why wouldn't GE match all the appliances especially since I bought them all together?? Black mat and black glossy are noticibly different.??

This is our third unit of GE Profile trash compactor. It really is beautiful in our kitchen. Matches all the other GE Profile kitchen appliances. Unfortunately, this trash compactor has been unreliable, and brakes more than it works. All other GE Profile have worked very well, but the trash compactor has had one blown motor, and one broken rod, making it only last about 6 months before breaking. The Whirlpool lasted many years, so this is a big disappointment. Really wanted this trash compactor to be reliable.

This unit looks good and worked well, but then broke after about a year's worth of use. The motor assembly comes as a unit and costs about $250 to replace if you do it yourself. This compactor is not durable compared to the price.
