Great range, not fond of convection setting

I love the range. I spent extra to get the convection feature. I refuse to use it because temperature setting does not stay true. It takes longer to bake with convection setting. I am not pleased with that aspect. I have bought GE appliances for a long time, this is the first one I have not been totally pleased with. I love all the other features just not convection.

Buying a fridge was far easier in 2017 than figuring out which stove is actually worth the bang for the buck. I needed an upgrade from an old electric stove to a gas stove (which I grew up with and prefer). A major concern of mine was hearing all the reviews for various stoves and how hard/easy it is to clean the black top. You do have to regularly clean the top of any stove, though, so I'm wondering if it's an issue of the new stoves these days, or the fact that the color of most stoves are black on the top. This stove had a lot of reports of how easy it is to clean, and I concur. Takes a simple swipe of a cloth with dishwashing detergent and then just dry it. This model does have more bells and whistles than I will ever use. I am not at all interested in coordinating with a microwave that costs $400 and running an app off my cellphone for my stove. However, I did find the Convection Roast mode to be interesting and it didn't let me down. It is a great feature that works as advertised. For those of you who may not be aware of why this oven is higher priced than its much less expensive brother model, Convection Roast Mode (not the same as Convection Bake Mode), an additional super powerful front burner, and the bluetooth capacities make it different. I am not really blown away by the Convection Bake Mode, though. It doesn't seem to decrease any recipe times, nor does it seem to do anything spectacularly different. Convection Roast Mode is definitely good bang for buck, as I roast stuff all the time. The front burners are ridiculously powerful. I can boil a normal 2qt tea kettle in just a few minutes, which insanely beats out my old electric stove's time of around eleven minutes. I have found that I have to adjust my cooking methods for making rice, though, since the front burner heats the pot a little too intensely and that residual heat bakes the rice into the bottom when set to simmer. This is true even if I use the front burner to boil the rice and the simmer burner in the back to simmer it. I just use the back burner to do the whole thing and have great results now. The central cast iron griddle is fantastic and is a very welcome addition to my kitchen. It is heavy and appears to be very well made. I have used it every other day for about two months now, so I can attest to its quality. It is also such an easy way to cook burgers on the ridged griddle side, letting me grill to my hearts content inside now. I lack a broiling pan, so I haven't used that feature. If I find that doesn't work, I'd definitely knock a star.

Wife and I wanted an oven that cooked well, had self cleaning features and offered flexibility in burners. This oven ticked all of the boxes and we are really happy with our choice. The fact that it looks cool is a bonus. We've been using it for about a month now. We have not had to use the self-cleaning features yet, but I can comment on its oven and burner performance. Having high BTU burners for boiling water is fantastic. What used to take 15-20 minutes with our old oven now takes less than half that. The only drawback is the burner gets so hot that it began to warp a cheap pot we had and melt the handles! The simmer burner is awesome as well. But my favorite is the oval burner with the griddle / grill insert. It works just like a big cast iron skillet. My kids love pancakes, french toast, etc. and they can't wrap their heads around cooking without a pan :) And movement of pots on the range surface is really easy with the continuous burner tops. In the oven, the combinations of convection, broiling and traditional baking settings offer great flexibility. Cooking is really even and I've tested temperatures consistently at +/- 5 degrees F. We really love having three racks as well. The only downside I can identify is the user interface. Again, we weren't interested in all the display bells and whistles so this was not a deal breaker for me. But in reading the manual and online reviews, having to push two buttons simultaneously an toggle through this and that, seems a bit clunky. I've read the newer model has streamlined things in this area so at least GE reads their customers' comments and makes changes accordingly. All in all we are really pleased with our purchase and can recommend this oven without hesitation.

Grills are very heavy. It would be nice to have separate grills for each burner so that the heat is not spread to an unused burner. The center grill is the heaviest. The non-warmer, pan storage drawer in the bottom of the stove is so thin that it makes the range seem cheap. Controls are a bit strange. Owner's Manual was missing so maybe when a replacement arrives we will find out their are settings to customize.

After massive snafus getting this delivered (took two months and seven delivery dates), this stove is working well. Of note: the high heat burners in the front bring water to a boil very quickly and the oven preheats quickly as well. We have not tried the self/steam cleaning feature yet. The controls feel a bit soft on the back of the stove, but work well. The griddle/grill pan in the middle also work well. The grates are heave to remove and smaller pans don't work as well on the front burners as the flame footprint is very wide.

This stove is absolutely beautiful. I am so happy I purchase the third grate from GE parts. The champagne trim is a great touch. I cleaned it up and used the small, oval and 1 large burner. Unfortunately Best Buy only sell 1/2" gas lines, I needed 3/4" ...thereby making me go to Home Depot, get correct fitting (another $6) and installing myself. Best Buy needs to equip installers with 3/4 and 1" fittings so the customer receives a more positive experience. Everyone does not have knowledge or want to "hook-up" appliances. Sales person as well as installers get A! ratings also. They were helpful, knowledgeable and patient.

The top gets hot wen the oven is in use. The heat vent seems to be the source of this issue.

The griddle is my favorite option. Burners boil fast 18k. The finish chime for the timer is great. Grates heavy duty. The only thing that I dislike is button placement on panel. But that's just me used to the old oven??

I saw the ad for the Samsung oven, but there was no comparison between it and my GE oven. The quality of the construction is obviously better than the Samsung version. The Best Buy salesman was very knowledgeable and advised me I could purchase an additional center grate, which sealed the deal for me. This is a great oven!

I've now been using this stove for 3 months. I have been nothing but impressed. This stove comes with a grill/griddle cast iron which is interchangeable with JSGrate1 (which you have to order separately. The grill works great for grilling vegatables and the griddle side is great for pancakes. All burners heat food with balanced heat to pots and pans. The JSGrate1 works great as a fifth burner for smaller pots or just to keep items warm while using the other burners. No issues with control board or oven. Note: You will have to order the JSGrate1 from GE as it does not come included. Since I ordered one I also ordered the broiler pan and broiler rack.

Oven has conviction & regular bake options, it steam cleaning which I’ve never used yet, but I love the concept. My only complaint is I’m usually cooking for 2 and the big burners are on the front.

Have you seen this? It's got a griddle in the middle that can also be used as a warming plate. Easy to clean the top after cooking. Has a very nice look to it and matches the rest of the appliances I purchased. This is the GE Profile. I upgraded my appliances because I had been in my home for 18+ years. They were all GE Profile and lasted and performed perfectly until the day they were replaced.

The stove is great and oven/ convection oven are great, however when using the oven, it gives off a lot of heat out the vent on the back of the stove area. So much that it heats up the kitchen and makes anything that I have on the back burners of my stove untouchable. That is the only negative. Just need a good air conditioner.

I previously had a GE Profile Range which met my needs for 17 years. I love to bake and it was time to upgrade to a newer model. Since I had such great luck with my previous GE, I wanted to check out the newest technology. I fell in love with this model and have had it for a little over 2 weeks. I have grilled, baked and used the stove top, all with huge success and satisfaction. Needless to say, I am very happy with my purchase.

When the stove works it works good. I am on the second stove exchange and becoming very frustrated. The first stove the oven did not work. The second stove the burners would not self ignite. Now we are waiting for our third stove hopefully third time is a charm.
