I purchased this microwave to replace a GE spacemaker that served our family of six and all the kid's friends for 12 years without a single problem. Reading the reviews across the internet I was apprehensive about the purchase, but the space was set up for this size microwave. Based on our experience with the previous GE spacemaker I put experience before reviews and made the purchase. It has only been a month but so far this unit has met or exceeded our expectations in every regard. The first benefit was not having to change the wall mount bracket, (wuuuhuuuu). The unit just fit right up. Well, after adjusting the vent system a bit... The previous unit's vent was bent beyond use on removal and I suspect the home builder didn't quite get it lined up like it should have been on initial installation. After the adjustment the installation was a breeze. The unit itself looks very sleek and the controls are familiar enough to use without having to study them. We all love the one touch cook and the large turntable this model line has. Often, we will just push the add 30sec button a time or two, or press reheat. The unit does give us a recurring surprise though. The low noise level. Perhaps the old one had gradually become louder over the years and we had not noticed. I personally didn't think it was LOUD though, except the vent fan. It was loud. This microwave is quite! At first I thought it wasn't actually cooking and only the fan was running, but stuff got hot. Even the vent fan is much quieter than the old unit. Nice... This unit is rated 1000watt where the old unit was only 900w. I'm not sure there is really a difference in the cook times, but the new one does cook nice and even and seems to get food hot pretty quickly. So maybe it is a little faster. Research showed other reviewers blasting this product for various reasons but we simply have nothing bad to say about it at this point. It looks good. It works good. It sounds good. It fit the hole good. Hopefully it will last as long as the old one did. Pass the popcorn, please Dear.

We recently bought one of these, albeit it in black. We bought it to replace a GE over-the-counter unit that was twenty years old and had finally bit the dust. The unit works great - it heats things up in quick order, and runs quietly. I can't grade the various cooking pre-sets because we haven't used them. We know pretty well from our old unit how long on what setting gets things warm &/or cooked, and prefer to keep doing things that way. I'll admit, the external fan is quite noisy, but so was the one in the unit this microwave replaced... so it doesn't bother us. Face it - fans are noisy. I also think you have to push a little harder than you should to get the touch panel buttons to respond, but that's a relatively minor gripe. We did have an issue with Best Buy re: delivery - our unit was back ordered and they didn't tell us. They were supposed to call us the day before our scheduled delivery to set a time, and didn't. We got concerned about that, so we called them... and thus found out there was a three week delay as per the manufacturer. We had Geek Squad do the install, and it didn't start well - they were quite late because they were seriously overbooked, and we were the last stop of the day. Other than that, though, Geek Squad did great. The two guys who did the install were friendly, professional, and knew their stuff. They had our old microwave removed, the new one in place and tested, and the old one hauled out to their truck in about fifteen minutes. One other thing - we happened to find our unit on Best Buys web site when they had it on sale... so we got a great price.

This model is the same as I bought 5 years ago. Same problems as reported in other reviews. The keypad and magnetron have failed. The turntable died 2 years ago (no rotation). For the price I expect a built-in appliance like this to last more than 5 years. I'm going to buy a Whirlpool to replace this dead GE.

So far, works well and is quiet. Could be more quiet when vent is on. Brighter surface lighting would be helpful.

Purchased this to replace a 12 year old GE microwave. The brackets from the old microwave were the exact same as well as the mounting screws on top. I was surprised as I had assisted in another installation where a GE for GE swap also demanded a new bracket and new holes in the cabinet.

My last GE microwave just died after 12 years. Best Buy had this microwave at their store a week after I ordered it. I was in and out of their store in less than 10 minutes for the pick up. Installation was easy and completed in less than 45 minutes. I used the reheat function today and it worked great. Visually the microwave fits my kitchen nicely. I installed the microwave against a left hand wall and its nice that the hinges of the microwave don't allow the door to swing outside the frame of the microwave. Thank you GE.

My original GE Spacemaker lasted 11 years without any problems. When it came to replacing it of course I stuck with GE , simple, usable and reliable. You won't be dissapointed.

The microwave was very easy to install and has worked as expected without any issues

After only two years of poor service from the vent system, the touch pad on my GE Over the Range micowave oven stopped working.

My husband and I bought a stove and this microwave and was told by the salesperson that both appliances would be delivered and installed. We did not receive a call until a couple hours before the delivery and when they came they installed the stove and informed us that they did not install microwaves. This is not what we were told by the salesperson and ,of course, we were not prepared to have to call and pay a third party since we were told that all installation would be completed.When I called Best Buy I was put on hold 3 times and shuffled between three people. No one apologized for the inconvenience,no one offered any alternatives or denied that the sales person told us that all installation would be completed. Why would someone not tell us this beforehand? We may have to wait another week to use our microwave. My husband was going to buy a 50inch Samsung TV for Christmas and have it installed on the wall by Best Buy.....but he is rethinking that now and; they may lose a really loyal customer over this situation.

First one lasted 5 years. I replaced with same and it lasted 6 years. GE paid for replacement because Magnitron is guaranteed for 10 years and it lasted 3 weeks. Best Buy was great about taking it back but I had to buy GE again to get my rebate from GE. We'll see how long this one lasts. I would never buy anything GE again. The GE dishwasher lasted about 5 years also and the refrigerator about 10 years. IMO GE appliances are junk.
