after waiting two weeks for them to show up i just cancelled the service call, a home theater system cost somewhere in the area of $3,-4,000. i am suprised. but this is the second time i've had problems with this geek squad

We discovered this service totally by accident while we were in the store. I am SO glad we bought the service. We were redesigning and upgrading our home theater. Sheldon came out and spent over an hour with us helping us decide what we needed and more importantly what we didn't need. In the end, Sheldon designed the perfect set up with hidden components (we didn't even know installation behind a wall was possible.) We went to the local store, picked up everything on the list and left as happy customers. We've had the new system for nearly a month now and we LOVE it. We wouldn't have the system we have today if it weren't for Sheldon and the GEEK squad.
We also had the GEEK squad come hook up all the equipment and program the remote. I've done this on other set ups, but I've never been able to get it set up perfectly. The Geek's came in and wired surround and programmed remote so I have only 1 remote. First time in years!
Finally, TV calibration is a must if you buy a new big screen TV. I thought my TV was just fine, but after Dan came and calibrated it, it is unbelievable what the difference is. We even had him do our other LCD while he was here, that's what a difference it made in our viewing.
If I had it all to do again I would have GEEK's do it all again. The cost was worth it.

Tim was great! I appreciated that he wasn't trying to sell me on anything. In fact, his recommendation for our space was actually much less than our original plan. He was clearly knowledgable! I'm sure, even though he wasn't a salesman, he also wouldn't want to recommend something that wouldn't be fitting for our space (which would cause more issues for Best Buy in the long term, than just an big sale would, short term) We were thrilled with his analysis and will be purchasing our packages this weekend!

Designed to sell overpriced installation

I scheduled the consultation because I had a complicated installation problem. Instead of helping to solve my problem, the consultant sent me a bid for a very expensive home theater system. The bid included items such as: $250 for TV calibration, $350 for a programmable remote, $100 for the geek squad to set up the remote, $120 for a "power conditioner."
I literally laughed when I received the quote by email. I would never recommend this service to anyone.

Made appointment for Geek Sqad Saturday - sometime between 8:00AM and 12:00PM Saturday morning. Waited the full 4 hours. Called the 800 number at 12:00 when no one showed up. I have been on hold now for 1 hour and 7minutes (after beeing told wait time would be less than 20 minutes). Called Best Buy in Seekonk who did not seem to care. Going to hang up now and buy a TV elsewhere.

The Geek Squad designed and installed our home theater system and fulfilled all our expectation. Their job was complicated because the store personnel did not order everything needed so the Geek Squad had to make two trips to our house and went by the store to pick up missed items

I completely disagree with Paul and have to say that the installers were very good at what they do. They came into my household friendly and went straight to business. They informed me of positioning of my newly bought equipment and the optimum standards of where everything should go. Overall this service was terrific.
