I just got my calibration done this weekend and I could see a difference immediately. If you are going to spend a couple of thousand for a plasma or lcd then you should spend the extra couple of hundred bucks to get the tv properly calibrated. The representative (Marcus) who did my tv took the time to explain exactly what he was doing and how it made the picture better. Not getting the calibration is like not buying a surround sound. The colors are more detailed and there is no blur between colors especially when watching a sporting event. It does take about an hour to complete. Well worth the money and time.

I really didn't think this calibration thing would make the LCD better......boy was I wrong. Now the color is realistic..........we only had the calibration done today and were watching football. 1 game was kinda foggy(from real fog) and the other game was sunny and bright. It was great to see the difference. I watched a full length blue-ray movie and was literally captivated by the landscapes, and the mood.......again foggy. The old settings were over bright and did not give true color. Now my TV is also a mood setter! Latter I watched a cartoon and again the old settings made the cartoon too bright, now it is as if the cartoonist is drawing to real life. This service may seem pricey but!! .......you want the best picture possible from your TV.....and God knows you did pay a lot for your TV,this is the way to get it!

The salesman said it was worth the extra $$. Although thinking this may have been a mistake, my husband and I both are amazed. The clarity is soooo much better. Thinking about getting this for mom, but the $$$. That's WOW also. Had the price been lower, I would have chosen 5 stars.

I've had a Panasonic TC-P50-S1 Plasma for about 2 months now. I love the picture other than it had a greenish tint at times. I have never been a big fan of Best Buy, but after reading that the LCD's & plasma's should be calibrated, and the positive reviews on the site about the calibration, I figured I would try it. It was definitely worth it. I can't say I see a big difference in picture quality (which I already thought was excellent), but the color accuracy is MUCH better. The tech also improved the heat output, although he said the TV was already running pretty efficiently. I am now completely satisfied with my Panasonic plasma purchase, thanks to the BB Geek Squad calibration.

At first I thought this was some gimmick. Sure, I can change the colors myself, right? Nope! My TV looked so good at the store, but when I got it home, it was so obnoxiously bright and the more I watched it, the more I thought that they were right. It wasn't long before I called up Best Buy and said, "I'll try it." Since the installer came out and did what he does... I have had so many comments about my TV. I love it, and it looks so good! Listen to the sales people, they know what they are talking about. I also found out that unlike many electronics sales people they are not paid on commission, so everything they offer is a genuine recommendation, and I appreciate that!

Tim calibrated our new 3D Samsung LED 55" TV. What an awsome job. We have sound and quality far surpassing the normal TV. Tim was very thorough and poliet. His knowledge was above and beyond a normal TV tech. He did such a good job on our new TV we had him do our one year old 40" Samsung LED also. We have had some problems with Best Buy in the past, but his expertise has reassured us that we made the right move having this calibration done. We would definiatley recommend this done to our friends.

When I purchased my Samsung 50 inch 1080P Plasma TV, I was not sure about the calibration cost... It seemed like a lot at the time. But I took a chance on it and got it. After a few months, the geek squad comes out to your house and hooks a lap top to your PC. They go into the TV's BIOS and reconfigure everythign to help your TV run better, look better and to accomodated TV's location and lighting. Wow. I was really impressed with what they did. My installer named Guy, told me what he was doing every step of the way. The bottom line: your TV runs a lot better, less heat. Your TV really pops the colors out a lot more, you just to see it to believe it. If you are in the middle on this service, I hope this review sways you to get it. I did and I love it! Geek Squad rocks!

I live in Montgomery County PA 25 miles north of Philly, and this was my experience. I had my calibration scheduled for my Pioneer Pro Elite 111-FD Plasma on a Saturday October 29th. The guy named Robert arrived on time and everything seemed normal. He was doing the calibration in movie mode and I told him that Pure Mode has the most options for calibration and he got very upset and told me "do you think you know more than me" He couldn't do what he called the "white balance adjustment" He called some kind of help desk or something and talked to a guy about getting into the service menu. He tried a dozen times and couldn't do it. He called a second guy and he told me that this model tv can't be calibrated and that NOBODY HAS EVER calibrated this tv EVER IN HISTORY. I told him that there are numerous magazine review of this tv being calibrated and that I've personally talked to people on forums who have this same tv and had it calibrated. He acted like I was crazy and that nobody has ever calibrated this model tv. He said I was rude for acting like this tv could ever be calibrated. The guy literally believed 100% that this model tv could never be calibrated and that nobody has ever calibrated this model tv. Patrick W is my geek squad guy in Rockford IL He is kind, patient, efficient and excellent at his job. I am so very happy I had my new Samsung LCD TV calibrated. The difference is amazing (and I already loved my picture). The heat generated by my TV is reduced by at least 50%. Patrick was very precise in his calibration, making sure it was perfect. He explained the process and the benefits as he went along. My whole experience has been perfect. I have never been so satisfied w/ any purchase in my life. In fact, after all my raving, my sister and brother in law went to the Best Buy in Elgin IL and bought the exact same TV, Sound Bar and installation. I can't say enough good things about Patrick and the results of his work. I am very very happy

This has got to be the greatest thing that my wife and I have done with our t.v. We have a 50" LG and the picture quality was horrible when we took it out of the box. To bright, very grainy picture in darker action scenes, and it was always hot. After Vollie showed up at our house, it was awesome. He explained everything he was doing and did everything he was supposed to. After he was done, which was only about in hour or a little longer, he explained everything that he had done and the picture was AMAZING!!! Even the Direct TV HD looks better than it did before. Overall, I would say that this is the best thing anyone could do for their t.v. if they want it to last...

First off,the BB salesperson who sold me my $3000.00 Panasonic plasma did not tell me it needed to have 300 hours on it before it could be properly calibrated.The Geek Squad was an hour late for my appointment,only to tell me that I had to schedule another appointment because the T.V didn't have enough hours on it. After the second appointment,which they were also late for,my T.V looked worse that before the calibration.The color temp was set at warm,which gave the picture a horrible yellow tint.When I told the Tech it looked bad to me,I was told "Everybody see color differently,It looks good to me". Only after changing the color temp to cool,and readjusting the other controls I could access,did I get a picture that was acceptable.The saleperson told me the calibration would take every bit of two hours,but the tech only worked for 45 minutes.I think it was a rush job and not worth the money.

The technician arrived on time to the minute and finished calibration within an hour. My wife and I immediately noticed colors we had not seen before, especially blues,lavenders, purples and maroons. Dark browns became easily distinguishable from blacks. Intense colors no longer bleed. The backlight setting is now 4 rather than 10, producing noticeably less heat from the screen. Calibration only needs to be performed once so the cost is relatively small over the life of the TV.

1. My calibrator did not have the tools/software to activate ISFccc modes on my TV. 2. Additionally, he was not trained to be aware of this capability on my TV. 3. BB does not perform the appropriate calibration on all inputs. They simply copy the calibration on one input and transfer it to the others. This is not appropriate because the input used for DVD for example will need to be calibrated to the color output of the DVD player. Each DVD player / brand gives off different color and picture quality and must be calibrated accordingly. In the end, I blame BB for not providing the appropriate training and tools for a calibrator to succeed. Then again, they can succeed because most people don't know any better and applaud at their 'calibrated' TV.

Before I ordered the calibration service I read all the reviews and every one was a 5 star rating. Now that I have experienced the calibration service, I can only think that many of these reviews are fabricated by BB or GS. The guy came to our house and didn't say a word about what he was doing. Finished up in about 15-20 minutes and began to demonstrate the "amazing" picture quality.. WRONG! My wife and I were confused at what he was seeing because it was not looking any better. Then he began to explain that it takes a couple of weeks to adjust. Ok, so we waited. Still horribly disappointed, we called to have another tech come out. A couple of weeks later, the same exact one showed up at which point we declined. This time we went to the store to try and Best Buy's customer service failed to properly schedule us for another appointment. After fighting with a few different managers, we were finally able to get our money back. Please don't waste your time or money. Some DVDs come with a calibration tool which I've had better luck with.

Just like the other reviews , why do I need this? But let me tell you one thing, my Samsung 52" is so awsome now. and I thought it already was the greatest!! I am in Metro Detroit area, Chris was my Geek, took off his shoes when he came in, answered all my questions(many of them):I will tell all to get this service. Our Family spends alot of Home time and we use our entertainment area alot, with the blue ray from insignia, and this great calibrated LCD TV, you can't get me away from it now!!! I purchased this calibration on the recommendations of the sales person and the reviews on the website. I should have just lit my money on fire. The technician was done in a matter of minutes and when we asked to see the difference (different shades of colors etc..) he told us that there were no programs on that he could show us the new picture vs the old on. Are you serious? We have cable and he can't find a program to show us the new and improved picture. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I reported this dis-satisfaction to customer service and got no reply.

i thought this was another dream the associate was selling to me , but after the geek people came in and did the calibration on my 52" samsung ,, i really notice a huge difference .. before when i brought my tv it looked ok .. but it waas a little to hard to watch at night because it was so bright .. but after my calibration ,,, everything looks alot smoother , like i am looking through a window literally. and they also adjusted my speaker system to so now everything is not so distorted when i turn it up . so when i look at my blu rays now the look like a 1000% better .. i highly reccommend everyone get their tvs calibrated by the geeks, its worth it .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the best service that I think bestbuy has to offer for its customers. My mouth literally dropped after the calibration was complete. If you do purchase this calibration and you are buying a tv $999 and up, you get 100 dollars off the entire purchase which I think is an excellent deal. The geeksqaud agent that came to my house was very friendly. He even took his shoes off at the front door! If you love watching tv and movies, then this is defintely the right service for you! Be prepared to watch the drool run down the side of your mouth when the geeks are done professionally calibrating your HDTV! Amazing!

Just wanted to note on here that the sales people that I dealt with made me excited about prospect of a calibration but I thought it wasn't going live up to expectations. I was right, it didn't, it exceeded expectations. The picture quality looks phenomenal and I saved $30 already last month on my electric bill.

The person was helpful but I do not recommend getting your TV calibrated. Movie mode is not good on a samsung TV. The geek squad technician put my settings on movie mode and the picture looked green and was not bright at all. I do not use dynamic mode when I set the TV to my liking I use Standard, Dynamic can be too bright and decrease the life of your TV. I recommend getting a calibration DVD, reading forums on the web or just set your TV to how you like it. Calibrating your TV is over-rated
