    Excellent Service and Great People

Excellent Service and Great People I purchased a 46” Sony Internet TV from Best Buy. When they offer this service, I hesitated, because a couple of my guy friends offered to help for free. However, I decided to give Geek Squad a try. It turned out was a great decision. They called 20 minutes ahead and showed up right on time of the appointment. Impressive! The work was done very professionally. They wear shoe covers and brought a moving blanket to protect my carpet. They even had a little plastic bag that catches all the dust from drawling the dry wall. What a clever innovation! It was a very fast and smooth process. Before I knew it, my TV was hanging at the perfect spot with all wires hidden in the wall. It was beautiful! Moreover, there was no mess!! The guys made sure everything was cleaned up before they left. They took all the boxes and trash too. It was like nothing ever happened, excepted I had my TV on the wall adequately. The guys are super knowledgeable and friendly too. The experience was fantastic. I definitely recommend this service!

Late arrival, poor mounting, damaged furniture

Like everyone who makes an appointment with the Geek Squad for television wall-mounting or any other in-home service, I was given a 4-hour window (noon-4 PM) during which agents were to arrive to mount my 40-inch flat screen TV to the wall. I was called the morning of the installation to say I was among the first service stops that day, and that I should expect the Geek Squad agents to arrive on the early side. Instead, they arrived one hour late: at 5 PM. I had to call the Geek Squad twice to verify that they still planned to come; I was told yes, but that they were "stuck in traffic." Anyone who lives and works in this area knows when and how to avoid traffic. What really burned me was that I had to call them - they didn't have the courtesy to call me to say they were running way behind schedule. Once they arrived - still no apology - they got to work and immediately ran into trouble. Problem number one: One of the workers dropped the TV mounting plate, putting a gouge in the top of my stereo cabinet. Problem number two: The television and sound bar were mounted slightly, but noticeably, off-center. Problem number three: They had trouble running and connecting power cords to my surge protector, so I told them to stop, and I completed this myself. Long story short: It took two workers a little over an hour to complete a job that - given the very high price Best Buy charges for this type of work - fell short of professional. When you pay a lot, you expect excellent workmanship, not to mention on-time service. Best Buy failed on both fronts. To be fair: The worker who damaged my furniture did not charge me for installation of the sound bar a $100 savings), which I thought was an appropriate response. And they made sure my equipment was working (once I'd connected the electrical cords for them) before they left. Lesson learned: I should have saved the $250 and done the job myself. I'm not a "do-it-yourselfer," so I thought it would be worth the money to pay a professional. But I and, and certainly you, could have done a comparable job without spending a big chunk of change. I would not recommend the Geek Squad for home installations based on this experience.

Good set up - waiting for refund

The process was extremely confusing, and it is best to have your computer in front of you when dealing with customer service so that you can see exactly what is being proposed and determining whether the proposal will work for you. I over ordered. The tv (which we love) could have been installed the same day it was delivered, but I read different information on line so we waited an additional week and then learned we didn't need to purchase the extra service.

    Do not Use Geek Squad!

I never write reviews, but felt compelled to write about my horrible experience with Geek Squad. I am in the Coast Guard, and was recently transferred to D.C. I bought a new home, and needed my TV mounted in an difficult location in the house so I hired Best Buy (first mistake). I went to the store and they told me I needed a site survey. So two young guys came out and told us they could install the TV; however, they told me I had the wrong mount (that Best Buy told me to buy). So I went back to the store and told the Magnolia Theater guys it was the wrong mount, but the Magnolia Theater guy went on to explain why it was the right mount... and that the installation guys were just being lazy (should of cut my losses right there). So I scheduled the installation, and the guys came out, and installed the TV after I had to explain to them (on the phone from work) how the mount was the right one (its a very nice Chief ceiling mount). But, I came home and they stated I had the wrong sound bar mount to my wife (which of course was not true). I had the correct Chief sound bar and ceiling mounts. They also billed me for custom wiring and mounting (which I was unaware of)... for basically bolting a ceiling mount into a ceiling with a PIPE FLANGE!!!! The wiring was as easy as throwing a line through easily accessible locations that were predrilled!!!! Also, they lost the hardware for the sound bar mount... but didnt mention that to me until I called to complain. So here I am... a month later... doing all the work... and will have to finish the mounting myself... after $450 down the toilet! And all Best Buy said they were going to give me was a $50 gift card and an apology for their unprofessional service... THEY ADMITTED IT WAS UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!! Also, please be sure to research HDMI cable information prior to Best Buy recommending absurdly high cable prices.

This is a must have item. Upon the tv/mount installation my bedroom offered more space. The Geek squad agents were very professional and on time. I must admit the only thing I didn't like about the purchase was BestBuy's asking price for the mount and installation. Tv+Mount+Installation Charges/Fees like this can really set a guy back. If in the market for such a mount and would like to save $200+ on installation fees, I recommend self installation! Please do your research first!! Its not hard at all. I self installed my first mount in my daughters room. Tools needed: 1. Research, 2.Mount, 3.Plasma tv, 4.Stud finder, 5.Drill and then you're good to go.

I decided to give Geek Squad a try because I got a ridiculously high quote from Audio Video Innovators here in Lafayette, LA. They wanted $350 to mount a 40" Samsung flat screen. Plus, they didn't do a really good job on the 50" Samsung that they mounted for me a while back. I decided to save $100 bucks and call up the Geek Squad. I almost decided to go ahead and use Audio Video Innovators after I read some of the really bad reviews about the Geek Squad service. I'm so glad that I went ahead and called the Geek Squad. I called my local Best Buy before I paid the fee online to make sure that the service was scheduled properly and I was able to get an 8am - 12pm appointment later in the week. Terry & Ryan called me around 9am on the day of the appointment to make sure that I was home for the appointment. When they arrived I explained to them how I wanted the 40" TV mounted and they followed my instructions to the letter. While they were mounting the 40" TV, I asked them if they would help me fix or show me how to adjust the 50" flat screen TV that I allowed Audio Video Innovators to install. I even offered to pay them to help me with my 50" flat screen. They told me there was no need to pay them, they would be glad to help. They showed me how to adjust my 50" TV and corrected everything that Audio Video Innovators botched free of charge. They did a great job on both of the TV's, and they did it all in less than 1 hour. The manager of the Lafayette Best Buy needs to thank Terry & Ryan personally because they definitely won my business. Because of their outstanding service, I am going to call Geek Squad up again to mount my new 32" TV once it arrives. Kudos to Terry & Ryan for putting my needs as a customer first. Keep up the good work guys!

    Problems Cancelling Service

Once I ordered my tv through Best Buy - and even after I reveived a confirmation notice of shipping - I was told it was backordered for six weeks. I cancelled the purchase. I tried to cancel the mounting service with the Geek Squad, but I could not reach the right person, was told it was taken care of, and then received several follow up calls. I called again, was told it was taken care of, and then got another message about coming to set up the tv. My credit card was charged even though no service was performed. I am still working on this situation, which should have beem resolved a month ago.

    TV Wall mount

The workmanship was not clean, clearly lacked imagination they stuck to their script. I suggested mounting the TV to flush with the speaker mount already in place but no speaker mounted and hence enough room to get the TV in palce. The technician gave the most silliest reason, that it could not be done. I had to redo the whole thing to get it right.

Know what you will NOT get!

My new 22" TV was installed above the kitchen counter, so it could rotate to be seen from the kitchen and from our connected dining room. I could have easily found the ceiling stud and screwed in the mount myself, but was not willing to risk messing up the wiring, since we don't have an electrical outlet in our ceiling! Rather than doing the TV installation myself, I wanted to pay for a professional to connect (splice, or install an outlet for) the power cord into my home's wiring. I thought for $250, the installation would include taking care of the electrical connection. But I was wrong! Instead, I got a long explanation about why the Geeksters aren't certified electricians and Geek Squad can't afford that pay scale. (At $250 for a half-hour job, they should afford it!) The Geek Squad only takes care of "low voltage" (speaker wires), not "high voltage" (110 v house current). So, I paid more than the cost of my new TV and mount for 2 guys to put in a couple of screws and attach the TV to the celing mount. [Then the "Tech" showed me how the TV was loose in the mount and couldn't be tightened, but "it should be OK, because the mount is tight in the ceiling."] IF YOU CAN TURN A SCREWDRIVER, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A GEEK SQUAD INSTALLATION!

The techs were friendly and informed me of extra services like putting the cords in the walls, if requested. They also did additional connections for me - they connected my speakers to the TV. So, very thorough, checked everything and did extra work just to make sure that I was fully-satisfied with the service.

    Great TV Wall Mounting Service

Geek Squad representative did an excellent job. He arrived during the scheduled time window (12pm-4pm) and gave me a notification call 20 minutes before arrival. The television was mounted on the wall exactly where I instructed and is centered and level. He also connected all my components (Cable box, DVD player and Wii) and programmed my remotes to work with the new television and additional components. The entire set-up took less than an hour. Great value for $99.99 (includes wall mount and service) with purchase of a new television!

    Installation was flawless

The geek squad really impressed me. The room where they installed my 37" TV and mount has always been a challenging one for finding studs to hang things on (stud finders give false readings, so multiple holes are always required). The mount was hung perfectly. The TV was hung and angled just the way I wanted it. They took the time to program my TV for me and my remotes. Everything was cleaned up... no holes in wall or garbage remained. The service was much more than I expected. I am very happy -- Thank You Geek Squad!
