After scheduling three separate appointments for my install and waiting around for someone to show up, the Geek Squad finally showed up at my house. The guys did a good job installing the TV. However, there seemed to be a disconnect with the customer service group scheduling the appointments. I was promised a gift card for all the trouble I experienced and never received it. If you have lots of free time to sit and wait for days for the Geek Squad to arrive, this is the way to go.

I scheduled to have a LCD installed in a new Branch of my Business.
I requested a specific date, because that was the window of time I was going to be in San Antonio, prior to opening to the public.
When I receive a confirmation it was for the WRONG date. I called 3 different times to verify MY date requested was correct, Each time being told, no problem, I would see a tech on 11/16/2010.
Anticipating a problem, I called again the day before the appointment (11/15) to verify. The day of the appointment NO one showed up. I spent 2 days (starting the day before the appointment 11/15) on the phone trying to get this corrected. This was a waste of my time as I was trying to finish and open the Branch.
I eventually had to hang the TV myself.
We would normally duplicate this order many time throughout the year as we open additional branches, and Best Buy is conveniently located around the country.
But this experience means I will have to look elsewhere in the future as customer service is not a high priority. Still waiting for the refund for service NOT provided.

I purchased a 50" wall mount plasma TV on 11/26 over the internet. I also purchased this wall mounting service at the same time. I did not receive a call to schedule the mounting within 72 hours. First time I called to schedule I was told I had to go to my local Best Buy to schedule. Of course that was wrong. Second time I called the rep took my info, said "no problem", put me on hold, and I hung up after 30 minutes. I did some Googling and mounted the TV myself. No biggie.
So I've called Best Buy every week since to try to get my money back. They have opened and closed 5 "cases" and we're now working on the 6th case. It seems they don't know how to ask Geek Squad if the work was done. Best Buy has given me a $75 credit and a $50 coupon for online shopping only. Now I just want them to refund me the difference. We'll see.
In summary, you may get better results by buying this service in the store. Over the internet not only could I not get them to schedule me, I can't get a refund.

1 week late...not as advertised, waste of money

Came 1 week late. Orriginal apointment got dropped from the schedule. No consideration offered or made. Just a couple guys making holes in the wall and hanging the TV, nothing technical. If you can operate a screw driver and you know where the studs are in your wall you don't need these guys. The HDMI cable does not work...cannot prove that they damaged it. They did not understand old home construction...poor tools. The sales person in the store told me that they would tune the TV for the room, lighting and backlight...they did nothing of the sort. They left a mess, Gave me a hard time about installing the sound system that was designed to integrate and had to be installed coinciding with the TV. Service is not worth more than $100 tops. If I were CEO of Best Buy I would consider these guys a big threat to the Brand Promise of Best Buy. They make it a lie!!

A Total Scheduling Disaster

I ordered a 65" plasma TV to be delivered in ten days. I ordered Geek Squad installation at the same time. The TV arrived as promised, but no Geeks. I gave it two days then called them. Even with written confirmation that they had my order, I was told they don't use the delivery schedule to set their installation schedule. The earliest they could come would be 13 days out. I canceled, bought a wall mount, installed it in 20 minutes, and lifted the TV into place with my wife. If you want to spend the $370+ for this service (which does not include the cost of the mount), spend an extra 20 cents on a phone call to tell them you want it installed the same day it's delivered. Seems silly, but that's how they told me they do it. I am a VERY UNHAPPY customer. I left 2 messages for customer service to call me at my cell phone to help with this and a month later have still not heard from them.

Was told in store they would mount, hide wires in wall and hook up my tuner and DVR.
They send 3 people. They immediately say they cannot hide wires because it's mounted on wall leading to home exterior BUT they can hide wires in a strip. Ok. Oh, but they didn't have the strip with them and it costs extra. While 2 mount, 1 asks to use my bathroom & disappears. Then, "oh, we only hook up the cable box" - which they proceed to TRY and do, but I end up having to run the wire to the modem for them. They send me to store for strip saying wire long enough to mount in corner, ah, but after a 30 minute trip, NO wire is not. I try and complain to customer service but nobody will respond. I paid $250 for a 5 minute job of screwing 8 screws...no geek services provided. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!! They don't do what they promise - complete MISREPRESENTATION and they don't stand behind their service.

The Geek Squad not only charged me twice and refuses to remove one of the charges b/c they have no way of confirming that I did not have 2 installations but they also came at 5:30pm after being scheduled to show between 8-12 on a day I had to take off of work to accomodate their availability. The package I purchased was online and included the installation service, the mount and 12ft HDMI cables which the agents told me I had to purchase additionally when they finally showed to my house. THey put my cable boxes in a position that hid my remote sensor and I had to reschedule them to come out to move them which I was then also charged for. I will never, EVER use the Geek Squad again and will never recommend them to anyone.

I was shocked how bad of a job they did. They were nice and polite, but badly mismeasured and ended up with SIX unnecessary holes in my wall. I had to schedule a follow up to fix the mount and take time to patch up six holes. Serious waste of time.

Don't bother wasting your money. The actual mounting service is fine, but don't let them fool you into thinking you'll get five components connected. In fact, make sure you check your facts before buying this service altogether. The salesman in the store told us they would connect our receiver, but when they showed up, they said they wouldn't. Sure enough, on the website it says they won't do that, but apparently the people who sell the products don't know the facts. So now we've wasted our money, and still don't have all of our components hooked up. Geek Squad customer service was of no help at all, since according to them, their service was fulfilled. Not to mention the fact that the crew neither disposed of the boxes nor offered to take my old TV to recycle it for free, as per their own installation list. Definitely be careful before considering this service.

Although eventually my TV did get mounted, the experience took over 2 1/2 hours. The first guy arrived promptly, but without a charged drill or ladder. After waiting over an hour for someone to come with the ladder and the man's drill to charge, when he drilled one of the four holes did not line up. A supervisor had to come and fix the situation. VERY disappointed considering the cost. Perhaps if I had paid $100 and not $500 (it was a special mounting over a fireplace, thus costing more) I would have been far more satisfied.

I never received the service. When I called after a week of waiting I was told they had not scheduled me yet and could not get me scheduled for another week. I told them to cancel and refund me. I was not willing to wait so long and was shocked that after a week I got no call and no assistance.
I heard nothing and called again a couple weeks later. I spoke to someone else who told me they were cancelling it. I never got a refund or further response. I have notified my credit card company and it is in their hands.
I also previously notified the local Goleta, CA store manager. I hired someone local to do the work - a much better deal (they came when they said they would, they returned calls, they were cheaper than your Geeks).
Sincerely, a very very annoyed customer.

I told the salesman at the store all the devices/games we wanted to connect. We also bought a Wii and a connector recommended by the salesman. The salesman said the geeks would have additional connectors, if needed. Two geeks came to our house to install and setup our 42" plasma TV. They had only a few connectors and they were very overpriced (compared to other stores). The geeks were not able to connect all our devices and the ones they connected were connected to the wrong ports. By wrong, I mean not the best ports. Most games & devices allow for two types of connections. It's always best to use the fastest, highest-resolution connection. For example, the Wii can connect to a VIDEO input or to a COMPONENT input (component is better). Our new Wii was connected to the VIDEO input.

The install team was thoughtful and very organized. Used plastic bags to collect dust and dirt from the installation process. Job done right - the very first time. Problem with ordering TV and scheduling Geek Squad Installation date. There is a major disconnect between the Geek Squad scheduling and delivery dates of the TV when done via the Best Buy Web Site. I will never order a major item for Geek Squad installation again from the Web Site. I highly recommend the Geek Squad installation Team - They did a great job!

I could have put twisties on my TV cables for a lot less than $350.
Best Buy should offer a greater variety of installation plans so you really get what you pay for. For example, if my cables cannot be "hidden" in the walls, I should not have to pay the same $350.

Difficult to Impossible to Schedule

Very disappointing experience w/ Best Buy. Ordred new TV and Geek Squad Installtion Service online. I get email confrimation that TV is shipping and notification that a package from Geek Squad is being mailed. Get post card from Geek Squad w/ no meaningful information. Call best buy day before TV is being delivered and they infom me installation was never scheduled. Tell me at least 2-3 weeks before it can be scheduled. I cancelled installtion. Four (4) phone calls, eight (8) transfers and four (4) hours over three weeks and no refund from Best Buy. Turned over to American Express and got refund in three (3) weeks.
Have had better experiences w/ Geek Squad in the paat, but not this time. Good Luck!

It took two weeks to get an appointment for them to mount my television. After mounting my television, the guy programed my Uverse remote to work with the television. His programing messed the remote up completely. If you push Info it mutes the television. I called Geek Squad to get them to come out and fix it. They said that their would be a charge because the guy programed the remote as a "courtesy." So I am expected to buy to fix what he did as a "courtesy." That is a scam if I ever saw one!!

The installation was good, though it was made easier by the builder of my house since the builder had run a pipe from where the TV would be to where the cables needed to come out so the installers didnt have to really work to hard to get all the cables and plugs situated.
The guys that came to install were friendly, took their shoes off when coming into the house which i appreciated since its a brand new home.
Cleaned up after themselves for the most part.
They were quick and everything looks good.
For the price you pay though, it might a little high. That is just my opinion though since it would have taken me alot longer to put everything up.
This is definitely something to get if you are not handy though.

I just think that $350 is a bit much, but the agent did a very good job. Unfortunately, he came with another agent who decided to leave him to do the job by himself. My husband ended up having to help him to lift the television onto the bracket.

When purchasing Geek Squad Services online at the same time as buying the item they will be installing, the site should give the customer better info on how to actually schedule the Geek Squad. I called the day my stuff was delivered, was told it was too soon after my order date, that it takes 10-12 business days for the Geek Squad order to process and they would call me to set up an appointment when the order had processed. I waited well past that time, got frustrated and called again. This time I was told I should call on the day the stuff was delivered, which I had done! Very frustrating.
However, once I had an appointment, the geek squad service was great! They called ahead to ask if they could come early and were done in under a half hour. Plus, my TV looks great and I could never have hung it in that corner myself.
It just needs a wee bit of website clarity and information and I'd be 100% satisfied. As it is, I'm still 95% happy.

Horrible on line ordering process

I ordered on-line installation through the BestBuy website. What they don't tell you when place your order is that you have to wait for a POST CARD to arrive in the US Mail before you can schedule installation. The representatives can't see the order in the system. I was on hold with three different representatives for over an hour and still no luck scheduling. Don't buy this service on line if you want your TV installed in less than a week.
