Stunning detail in a overlooked & underrated movie

Purchased the HFR (60fps) UHD showing, and found it to be (excluding the poor CG effects in the epilogue) technically amazing, with stunning images that were clear, detailed, and colorful! Director Ang Lee (Life of Pi) really pushes cinematic technical boundaries and integrates some good discussion-worthy topics (in this case, "nature vs nurture", and the moral ramifications of science). I don't get the HFR haters. This was shot natively, and does not have the artificially induced Soap Opera Effect that is found so distracting. The story was not as deep as some, but far better than others I have seen. Aside from Ang Lee's push for shooting in HFR, which bothers some people. I have an issue with artificially boosted frame rates, because it isn't what the director intended, but this was shot natively at 120fps and I respect the artist's choice. Few theaters showed it in its native 120fps 3D format. I caught a 3D showing projected at 60fps and noticed exceptional clarity and 3D free from eyestrain. One particular action screen, where bits were shot in super slow-motion was nothing short of amazing. The only issue I had was the epilogue, with the young Will Smith looked 'off'. Other than that, it looked amazing.

I don’t understand the flack this got from some. If you like John Wick, James Bond, or Jason Bourne you should like this. The picture quality is absolutely insane! It’s 60 FPS instead of the normal 24 FPS. My TV looked like a window and they were right on the other side. Not one shred of softness or blurry lines. It’s crystal clear and pristine. You literally feel like you are right there on set or holding the camera. This is a prime example of the difference between DVD and 4K.

I love the fact it came with two versions of the film, with the 4K version shot 60 fps. The audio soundtrack was awesome, lots of action throughout

This is a great action movie. Will Smith shines in this role. There is some morality involved regarding the possible use of clones in the near future. This is an exciting blend of science fiction and action adventure. The supporting cast also does an excellent job.

Movie is okay, but every 4K fan should have this in their collection just for the 60 FPS. I really hope they start making horror movies at 60 FPS. Enjoy!

    Ang Lee You A Genius

I’ve always thought Will Smith was a great actor but lately some of his movies or roles haven’t really impressed me but I was definitely impressed by him in this movie. The director, Ang Lee also did a terrific job with the action sequences and the special effects (especially between older Smith and younger Smith). I almost didn’t see this because of the horrible reviews from critics and reviewers but I’m so glad I did. All of the actors were amazing in their roles and as far as the plot goes, it was pretty good in my opinion; it didn’t need to be complex or convoluted to keep the movie going, it was very well written not on just an action level but on an emotional level too. It’s about ond of the best government hit person in the world who wants to retire but gets burned by the government and goes on the run with a few allies only to face off against a clone of his younger self who is tasked with assassinating him. I won’t give away the story but the performance that Will Smith gives here, both young and old, is nothing short of amazing; Clive Owen is great in his role as usual. The action sequences in the film are incredible but the emotional depth of it is also extraordinary. If you like action movies that are fast paced but also offer up a little more when it comes to plot substance (which this does), I recommend you see this. Please don’t listen to all these cynical critics and reviewers and go in with an open mind and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it; i was pleasantly surprised and I had low expectations. Recommend

I liked this movie and enjoyed it, in the same sense that I enjoy a good steak every now and then, but after seeing it, it came across to me as just another decent action movie. I watched it in 4K on my Sony X900F 65” and man was I blown away by the picture quality of this film. No other 4K movie that I’ve watched on it made me think I could actually touch the people in the movie like this one did, so for that reason alone I enjoyed watching it. On the beach scene I felt like I was actually on the beach with them! So for this reason alone it’s part of why I am giving it 4 stars; the other reason is because of the special effects regarding the way they were able to de-age the character, which is just amazing. With that said, the story/plot is nothing new, and the performances seemed phoned in; so I give the story 1 star, the 4K picture 2 stars, and the SPX 1 star also. Is it worth seeing? Sure; if you’ve got a couple hours to burn on a Saturday, watching this movie is an ok way to do that. But this is also one of those movies I expect to start seeing repeatedly broadcast on cable channels in years to come not because it’s a great movie, but because it’s something to pass the time away on a rainy Saturday afternoon after football and basketball are no longer on tv...

I actually found this movie to be very good despite it receiving negative reviews from critics.Let’s be honest how often do critics actually praise a movie? I read this was the first time ever where a character in a film was completely computer generated.I personally like when a director is willing to do things never attempted before. While myself and a few others noticed a scene or two mostly in the dirt bike chasing scene doesn’t look quite right.Like things are moving too fast to be realistic.Other than that I found this film to be excellent and would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys action films. Will Smith portrays this character well and the supporting cast keeps things interesting.Do yourself a favor and check out Gemini Man!

I’m happy to contrast many negative reviews written on this film. First off, I enjoyed it on an OLED large screen television with surround sound and using a very high end 4k player! Overall, I greatly enjoyed this film. The film displays amazing clarity (shot in high end 4k) and wonderful sound! While I did notice a few scenes that demonstrated questionable issues with clarity, the pace, as well as the acting never slowed down! If you’re thinking of picking this film up, I recommend doing so while keeping in mind it’s a clear demonstration of what 4k can display, while limited only by its “somewhat” mediocre script... it’s portrayed well by its cast, but doesn’t have a very deep impact in the end. Cheers & enjoy!

I originally saw this in the theater in 3D with its much-touted high frame rate of 120fps. Visually it was impressive, despite the seeming familiarity of the plot, but it looked too much like professionally shot video rather than film, especially at that rate. I waited until I bought the Blu-ray to get a better idea of how it looks at a more film-like level, and for the most part it's decent enough (apart from some black ghosting in the image for one nighttime action sequence). It's still fairly impressive for a movie of its type, regardless of the hype about the frame rate. It's just different enough to qualify for a day's leisure when you have nothing else to watch.

The premise of cloning super soldiers for clandestine ops is fascinating, compelling and very scary all at once. We may not no for sure today if this has been accomplished but the strides in genetic engineering that have been leaked to the public can lead you down a deep dark path very quickly. The mastery of bringing a young WS to the picture. The almost flawless delivery by WS to deliver both characters Was amazing. Mary Elizabeth Winstead...wow from collage student to next level skills of a DIA super agent was the highlight of the characters. Her movement and timing seemed flawless through the film. “And the best supporting actor goes too...?” As for Benedict Wong solid as always,

Some people hate the soap opera affect, but I’m one of the few who loves it. I’m all about clean picture and quality even if the movie itself ain’t that great. You spend a lot on your display so why not watch amazing content on it? Gemini man in 60fps is absolutely incredible. It feels like you are watching it live and the crisp detail is something to behold. May not be my favorite movie, but when I want to show off my QLED tv, this is the disc I pop in. People are amazed at how well it looks and that the tv isn’t OLED. This movie can make an ordinary tv look high end. Thank you, Ang Lee for taking a risk with this film. Love love love.

Say what you will about this movie - and people have and it ain't been all good - this disc presents the viewer with cutting edge picture and sound. Watched this at 60 frames per second in Ultra HD and it was unreal. That didn't help some of the CG but kuddos for trying. The movie sounded great with loads of dynamic range. It takes maybe 10 minutes to get used to the realistic motion the high frame rate presents but it's totally worth it.

    WILL SMITH VS WILL SMITH!

Gemini Man is a generic spy thriller where Will Smith playing as Will Smith battles Will Smith playing as younger Will Smith. It feels as if it should have been released in the 90's but overall it is pretty decent, I don't think the plot will blow you out of your seat however the 60 fps UHD image just might. If you want to push your UHD to the max, this is the film for you! Want to show off that new tv that you bought with your stimulus check? This is the movie for you. Soon enough it will end up in bargain bins and at 9.99 or less, you definitely get your value.

First, the movie was okay. Good action, good acting, but a bland villain. The pacing of the movie was a little uneven, but not a deal-breaker. The CGI, especially in close-combat scenes like in the crypt, were laughably bad. I'm not sure if they just ran out of money or what, but the movement of the CGI character was worse than a cartoon. Also, the Dolby Atmos sound-mix was non-existent. The bass was good in spots but you never felt immersed in the movie. On the bright side, the HDR made the picture look amazing. Reference-quality amazing. I'd recommend the movie for that alone. That, and Will Smith being as great as he usually is.
