You get what you pay for, and this was a solid replacement in a pinch. The memory and speed are not that great but it still performs adequately.

It works fine for streaming netflix. Doing paperwork and such. However, you fill the drive before you know it. If needed for music, don't. It wont be able to operate your programs. Playing gamepass was a little choppy but that could've been on the microsoft side.

Lasted 2 years, decent laptop, what ended up killing it was the screen burning, from over heating even tho it was off?, it was good while it lasted I will say that into the 2nd year it became very slow even when wiping the whole thing.

Packaging was great. The computer is worth it. I watched Netflix, Hulu, and everything. I even played Sims on it. I had it for a good year until I finally broke it by dropping it. Other than that, I never had any problems with it. A good work laptop. I just wish I had gotten a warranty on it. I really loved this computer.

Great Value

This laptop is a really good value at $250. Most budget laptops at this price point tend to be Chrome books with only 64 GB drives, 4 GB Ram, and Celeron processors. This one has a 128 GB drive, 8 GB Ram, and a faster Pentium Silver processor. It's very light and very portable and it runs cool. It doesn't feel cheaply made either. The display is very nice. It doesn't have a number pad, but that is the trade off for a more compact and smaller laptop. I've read other reviews detailing how theirs broke down within weeks. Hope that doesn't happen to me. So far it's been running great. Are there better laptops to be had? Definitely. But this one was very inexpensive and a great value for the features and specs it has. I don't really need anything more than this in a laptop.

This is a very good budget laptop. I bought this knowing that this a budget laptop and would be mainly used for web related things like browsing and remote working. It works perfectly for that. It comes with 8GB RAM which is twice as much compared to most other laptops in the same price range.
The screen works fine and I have another monitor connected to it using an HDMI Mini cable. That is one thing to note - the port is HDMI Mini.
Overall there is no lag at all and it's updated with Windows 11. It's also totally quiet. Per Geo support there is no fan in this laptop at all.
There are just a couple of minor cons. The webcam is pretty bad and doesn't have an LED indicator. If you need to video conference for work considering getting a USB web cam. Additionally the sound / speakers is weak but again just a minor issue since you can plugin headphones or external speakers.
Lastly, at times after waking the computer from sleep there is what sounds like hissing. It only lasts for about 10-15 seconds and then goes away and doesn't happen all the time. Seems like it's coming from the speaker since there are no internal fans.

The volume was very low. I tried in good faith to update drivers. Was unsuccessful. Dealt with customer service located in the UK. They got back to me but did not provide or did not have updated drivers. I also heard sounds coming from the laptop when it was off, which was concerning. There was also bleeding from the screen. This is due to screen being unsealed. Adapter was fragile and arrived packaged carelessly , with half of it outside of bag. Not worth the hassle.

Runs well, when it starts

Strongly recommend purchasing a different computer. I have had to bring it in for repairs 3 times in 2.5 months. When it is running, it does work well, has a nice feel, etc. But I have had multiple problems with it getting errors and not starting. I am only trying to use it for internet and basic office programs like word and excel, which it says it can handle. My guess is that the system is just too weak. Better to spend a little more and get a better computer that runs. Picture is example of most recent errors, previous ones were much worse and needed complete reset.

Hi Terry, I'm sorry to hear you are not having a good experience with your GeoBook 240. The image you have provided shows a Windows error, which unfortunately can happen from time to time. A reset should solve this for you, if you need any assistance with this please contact our Geo Support Team at www.geo-computers.com/support. I hope this helps!

My son got this laptop for Christmas and he loves it. He plays games online with his friends. He says it has a lot of storage so he doesn't have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling to play different games because the storage doesn't run out. I'm impressed with it especially for the price.

This laptop is basically as expected for the price point. It’s not amazing, it’s not terrible. It’s average. I got it to play a few low key games and anything that my Mac can’t do, and so far it has been fine. The one thing that infuriates me is the “right click” on the keypad is a challenge EVERY TIME. It takes me like 6 tries every time. So annoying; since right click is critical for what I use this pc for.

Spend a little more money to get something nicer. Bought be to able to do simple tasks with and that’s difficult to do unless plugged in bc the battery life is horrible. Can’t start right away out of the box either. Oh and it doesn’t have a normal hdmi port like listed. It’s a mini port so make sure you don’t buy the wrong wire. Will be checking to see if we are in the time frame for a return. I can get my child’s tablet to work better for my needs than this computer

Me: Medium-low technical expertise, very hard on laptops physically, no gaming. I always have many browser tabs open including video, which I listen to in the background while working in 2-3 basic programs simultaneously. Have owned multiple brands of lower-end Chromebooks and Windows laptops.
Never heard of Geo prior to purchasing this Dec 2021, but it was on sale for $250 and had better specs than most budget laptops (8gb ram/128gb SSD/full HD display) so I tried it.
Pros:
--Sharp and super bright display. (So bright that I keep it dialed down to half its max or it's too bright for my eyes.)
--Sound quality is decent (although not loud--see Cons)
--I can do everything I want on it and it's fast enough that I never have to wait for things to load
--No freezing or other glitches
--Good battery life
--Pretty light weight
Cons:
--Sound was too quiet (and it's not I need ear-splitting volume). But in searching for solutions I found a free program called FXSound designed to boost volume, and that works great.
--After about 8 or 9 months it started getting hot in the left corner (and sometimes the power brick too), so now I have to constantly manage that. If it gets TOO hot it will shut itself down. Obviously this is a huge drag; however, as I said, I'm notoriously hard on laptops so it may be something I did.
--Also recently the right end of the hinge has started coming apart; not sure if it's missing a screw or part of the plastic broke. I've been meaning to try taking it apart to try to fix this (and see if there's dust or something obvious causing the overheating) but haven't got around to it. I've just been snapping it back together and it's getting worse. But again, it's probably something I did.
--Couldn't find a matching silicone keyboard cover to protect it from my snacks so now it's a mess.
Bottom line:
Came here looking for a replacement and discovered Best Buy still sells this one and now it's only $200 on sale. So I'm definitely buying it again and vowing to take better care of it this time. My current one still works fine other than the problems noted above, so I will keep it as a backup and meanwhile get around to taking the back off to try to fix the corner and possibly the overheating.

The battery has good life, lasts 3 hours easy (more if you keep the settings optimized). The display is really good. The most impressive thing is that it is very light and doesn’t have fans, so it’s silent. It has a couple of high-speed USB ports. The 128GB SSD M.2 2280 drive operates in the SATA mode instead of NVMe, but is plenty fast enough. Windows 10 operates in S mode, but you can activate the normal version of Windows 10 Home 64 bit if you want. Once you do, you can’t go back to Windows 10 S. Windows 10 S only allows installation of programs from the Microsoft Store (kind of like Apple does on its products).
If you know how to clone a drive, you can upgrade the SSD to a M.2 2280 SATA 500GB drive. Opening the case voids the warranty and is not very easy. The are 2 screws under the rear rubber feet that are glued on, so you have to remove the rubber feet to access the screws and hopefully glue them back on after your done.
You can upgrade to Windows 11, but it’s a a one way street too. The upgrade went smooth and so didn’t notice any slow down; however there is one nagging error that I keep getting when I try to install some programs (Microsoft.NET parser error in Framework64 config v4.0.30319). I’ve tried everything.
All that came in the box was a power adapter, laptop and a very small pamphlet with a few instructions.
I didn’t have any key card for Windows nor was there product key on the bottom of the laptop, so I don’t know what would happen if you need to reinstall windows.
It’s supposed to have a full year of Microsoft Office, but there wasn’t a key card for that either.
This is NOT a gaming laptop. It’s good for typing letters, making spreadsheets, internet, watching movies or YouTube. It should have come with a 500GB hard drive, but it didn’t, so you’ll have to store most of your files in the cloud or a flash drive.
