    Unbeatable performance. Quality...???

I have to admit that the performance of this laptop in many aspects is unbeatable. However, I put a BIG question mark on it's quality. I purchased it on 11/23/2021, and I used it ,on average, 4 hours a day. (I have never moved it since day one). And, the monitor started seriously flickering around 2/1/2022, 60+ days later. You can check what it looks like now via the attached pictures. If you don't trust my words/ pictures, please google "Aorus monitor flickering", you can find countless examples. If the quality is not what you care about, then it is the perfect one. But if not, I would suggest you think twice. Because if I have one more chance, I will definitely return it before 1/26/2022 which is the last day that I can return it back to BestBuy.

Pros: * Powerful for a 100-115w GPU, 8,500 Timespy Graphics (w/ bios update), 4,800+ CB R20 score and 11,200 Timespy CPU score. * Temps well under control given compactness and power. Vents on keyboard surface help fans get air when on flat surfaces. * Screen is 'good enough'. I don't have measuring equipment, but it looks very similar to my 300nit/100%srgb Legion 5. * Very easy to upgrade. The bottom panel comes off SO much easier than Legion 5's. * Lots of ports, including MiniDP, SD card, and 3 regular type USB! * The RGB is over the top. Very bright, many options. Cons: * Software needs help. RGB settings don't stick, interfaces are a bit weird and you can't tell if the things you're selecting are even possible or will 'stick'. I'd rather have this though than zero tinkering like on the Legions, but still, needs work. * Battery life isn't what I expected. I used all the same settings and tricks that get me ~6-7+ hours on a 60wh i7 Legion 5, and barely showing 5 hours for this thing and it has a 99.9wh battery? * Weird port layout. Power port, 2 USB 3.0's and a USB C on the same side as the mouse?? Mine is set up on a mesh stand for ventilation, but if I was using this by itself idk, that's kinda bad. Ports on the back is the way to go. * There was ALMOST a 'Pro' of no weird crap or glitches in my use so far...other than it seemingly bricking when I did a bios update. Waited 5 min in full after it 'turned off', turned it 'on', nothing but an orange keyboard. Thankfully as mentioned the bottom panel is easy to get off safely, so I unplugged the cmos and laptop batteries, and after that it booted properly and has been fine (and better benchmarks after that update). All that being said, the lightness (4.8lb), reasonable sized power brick, crazy vivid per key RGB, and well optimized AI modes for gaming/quiet time mean I'm switching over from Legion to Aorus. That and the fact that I have sent TWO 2021 Legion's back due to weird unfixable issues and this thing has run perfectly (save for the bios issue, which unlike the Legions was a one time thing).

Good laptop for the price but the deal breaker for me is the fact that the secondary functions on the key caps are not backlit like the rest of the keyboard. I wish I had noticed this beforehand as it would have saved me the hassle of a return/refund.

Why did I buy this laptop: After the death of my computer I decided to look for another. I slowly realized throughout my search that a laptop would do much better. Not only would I be able to bring it with me to both class and trips, but I would still be able to play my one and only game. (Yes, I only play one PC game) I was then down to comparing this laptop with an Asus one, but I trust the brand Intel so I clicked check out. My Expectations: Runs Google Chrome, Microsoft Apps, and multiple tabs at a time smoothly Quiet fan Speakers/Microphone Ability to add my external drive Runs my game at the highest setting Long Battery Life Reality: Runs great! You can manage the fan and what "mode" your laptop is in. I have it default at quiet, but when playing video games it does get loud. Not for the reason you'd think. When it detects that you're playing a game, the laptop will increase it's fan speeds to 100% in order to keep the graphics card cool. Which honestly, I like. The screen refresh rate is 240, and I reach around 110 fps on ultra settings. Compared to my old laptop, I got 15 frames on ultra low. My screen did flash when I leaned it back a bit too far, but no permanent effects/issues. Battery Life is long unless you have many applications open. I keep my laptop plugged in constantly when gaming so I can't comment on that. You don't have a lot of storage with this device, but I have an extra TB externally. Set up was easy and the WiFi card is fast. (30 MB/s compared to 10 from my tower) My only gripe is the camera is bad quality, I've yet to try the microphone. I haven't ran into any other issues so I can't comment on cons. If I have any, I'll update this review. SOMETHING TO KNOW: The bottom of this laptop is basically exposed. There are multiple cuts in the plastic to ventilate the device, but it leaves the motherboard and graphics card pretty exposed. I do not recommend leaving it on anything but wood, plastic, glass tables. Be careful when transporting this too because one splash of soda on the bottom of the laptop, and it's gone.

This is a pretty good gaming laptop, granted it doesn't have the GPU power to support the 240hz display, it's still rocking some power. It'll play most triple A titles with above 90 to 100 fps on medium to high settings (depending on the title). The battery life is subpar (don't know why you would be gaming with this thing on battery) but if you plug it in it'll give you the best performance it's got. I played pretty much any game and it was as responsive it can be, I would totally buy this laptop again if it wasn't like a couple inches thick and if it went to 144hz with a freesync or gsync display. Still a good gaming laptop for sure though!

    Solid Laptop

I had been looking for gaming laptops with an RTX 3060 for a month and this one came with the best value at Black Friday's 1200$. The 105 Watt GPU was also a great bonus. TL;DR it's a great laptop at its price range, packing quite a punch for an RTX 3060 and I7-11800h. Pros: This laptop runs incredibly fast and rarely has any heat problems. The build feels solid and its non-flashy look really appeals to me. According to User Benchmarks, it has a higher benchmark for each component (CPU, GPU, Storage, etc.) than average. The keyboard feels pretty smooth with its Tactile Keyboard, though it will take some getting used to as the keys are shifted a bit more towards the left. Each key is also individually lighted and is controlled using the ControlCenter software. About the Control Center, make sure to turn off "AI mode" and "Automatically Start up" for AI mode when you set up this laptop, as it will mess with your keyboard a ton. The 240hz screen is amazingly smooth with a pretty strong sRGB and Adobe RGB Coverage. Battery life lasts about 5-6 hours for simple video playback, so it can work as a workstation as well. Pretty decent for a Gaming Laptop, but not Zephyrus level of great. Cons: Nose Cam is probably one of the worst ideas I could ever think of for a laptop, so don't expect anything out of the 720p 30fps laptop. ControlCenter AI mode is atrocious and turns your keyboard into rainbow puke (should come with an epilepsy warning). It also resets your keyboard presets on restart so it gets pretty annoying. There was also a small bug where the screen flickers on the left side; I don't know what that's about. Lastly, there is no MUX switch, so you have to manually select the GPU to use in NVidia Control Panel if you want to reduce latency by turning off optimus.

An amazing laptop. I got it when it was on sale at a discount of about $400 or so dollars. So for that price this was a steal. The only cons I have about this laptop would be the fan being a little loud but that’s only for gaming and everytime I have headphones on so I don’t even notice it. It does tend to get a little hot after a LONG gaming session which I expected and it didn’t really bother me to much. Battery life isn’t the best either but I always keep it plugged in anyway so I don’t see a problem with that. Everything else about this laptop is perfect and I don’t regret my purchase at all. THE SCREEN IS AMAZING!

For a 3060 in this range of price, it is really great perfomance laptop. After some configurations, i run Halo Infine at 110-95 FPS in ultra specs with a constant temp of 75 centigrade grades. This laptop dont even bother whit that. In turbo mode the temp is even lower with the same game. It reaches 115 w at max performance. Ive been using it for several weeks and the only problem is control center sofware. Control center is very buggy, shame that it controls lots of performance specs and RGB. But for an medium advance user there is not gona be problem to get max performance despite the control center bugs. Hope this get fixed with some patch

Took a chance on this when it was first listed here, despite no reviews. I'm very pleasantly surprised. The good: Wonderful gaming performance. I am hitting 60-70 FPS on Battlefield 2042 (High preset), 150+ FPS on Call of Duty Vanguard (performance mode), and 110+ FPS on Days Gone (High preset). Meanwhile, even on the stock fan curve, I'm just barely going over 80 degrees Celsius. Really powerful device (even with "just" a 3060) with wonderful cooling. Screen is beautiful. I'm not a professional reviewer so I couldn't speak on the color accuracy or whatever, but the 240Hz is gorgeous and I have no complaints when playing games. Text is clear, coding is easy on the eyes. Fantastic I/O. Three USB, USB-C Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, mini DP, SD card, and an RJ45? Just wonderful. Unlike a lot of other laptops that essentially expect you to use a dongle or dock, I have yet to run into an issue where I would need one on this device. When I'm at home, a simple USB hub has been all I need. Battery life is fine for a gaming laptop. You'll never get a full day of battery out of it, but I wouldn't expect to. I can get 3-4 hours of battery life if I turn down brightness and performance settings. You could probably get more if you tune things, which I haven't. Compared to my previous gaming laptop, which would get maybe 90 minutes, that's a big improvement. RGB keyboard is beautiful. Vivid colors, bright. The RGB here is better than some enthusiast level mechanical keyboards I've owned. Shame about the software (see below). Out-of-box Windows 11 compatibility. Absolutely zero issues with drivers and such. Upgrade was available immediately and worked perfect. None of my other devices managed the update to Win 11 as well as this. The bad: The FN brightness keys simply don't work at all. I don't have a clue why. I suspect it is because Control Center is a demonic piece of software. All the others work as expected. While the I/O is nice, the placement is baffling. Why on Earth would you put the charge port and the USB-C Thunderbolt on the RIGHT side of the device, where I'll have my mouse? Makes much more sense to have this on the left or back so it isn't in my way when gaming. CONTROL CENTER. ARGH. Last but not least, let's tackle my biggest problem: Control Center. Aorus Control Center is easily the worst manufacturer software I have ever used, to the point I'm going to give it it's own section. Control Center contains an "AI" that will auto adjust your settings and performance. Great idea in theory, but it makes really dumb decisions such as setting itself to a low-performance "meeting mode" whenever I tab to Discord. This also forces your RGB to reset as well, and you can't save custom RGB profiles to the AI. Thankfully, you can just disable it entirely. The RGB tool is lacking. Individual mouse clicks required for every key you want to edit. The settings don't stick, either; if the AI decides to change or you restart the software, you go back to the default RGB. You can save the profile, but you still will need to open CC, go to the settings, and load your profile once a day or so. The driver update section is wildly out of date. For example, it suggests that the "newest" version of Nvidia drivers are from January 2020. For a 3060 in November 2021. Yeah, no. Thankfully this isn't necessary, but someone who is new to PCs might not know any better. With that out of the way... Overall, I love my Aorus 15P. It has replaced all other laptops for me, and I highly recommend it. The software is absolutely abysmal (and I'm knocking a star off because of it), but the rest of the device is marvelous. Set what you need to set in Control Center, disable AI, and update your drivers manually and you'll be good to go.

Overall an excellent laptop. Like another reviewer, I could not change the brightness using the Fn shortcut, but it started working again upon a restart, so I suspect it is tied to the Control Center software, which is definitely hit and miss for some functionality. My biggest complaint is the lack on backlighting for the Fn labels on the F1-F12 keys, so I have had to memorize where my volume keys are (F6-F8) so I don't accidentally turn off my Wi-Fi (on F2). It's a pity that they could make room for a number pad (which is super nice) but not convenient Function keys. Despite those shortcomings, the laptop is a beast with excellent performance, very stable framerates and load times for video games. The chassis feels quite rigid and stable with minimal flex, while still being fairly lightweight. I got Black Friday pricing, but I feel that this laptop is worth full price if you don't mind the drawbacks.

This machine has been handling everything I can throw at it, from the new (to pc) god of war to final fantasy like a champ. The bottom has big cutouts with mesh so it runs quite cool, and is also easily removable (it has t6 screws), allowing for access to the upgradeable ram and the second ssd slot. The port selection is solid too, my only complaint is that it would be nice if the ports were on the back. Battery life is so-so, but that's to be expected with this kind of laptop, and it can be helped by tweaking the settings as needed. Aorus control center is needed for the rgb keyboard, and it's the worst part of the package. It seems to forget your settings if you re-open it, and also after a reboot. The performance profiles do make a big difference though, it would just be nice if the settings were more persistant.

The GIGABYTE Aorus is a sassy machine. She’s quick, snappy, and has no issues multitasking. The graphics are crisp and vibrant but not overwhelming. I’d say it’s perfectly fit for a very aesthetically pleasing viewing/gaming experience. The full size keyboard is comfortable and the track pad is smooth. A feature I was surprised to see was the space bar function for keyboard RGB controls (on, off, cycle between patterns and effects). My only complaint is the RGB Fusion 2.0 software launch issue. I’m sure it’s a simple solution, I just haven’t had the time to fix it. I’ve had the computer for four days and so far, I am very pleased with my purchase!

Really fast and powerful laptop. Played a few games with the graphics on ultra and it handled them fine. The RTX 3060 is a massive upgrade over the RTX 3050 I tried on a similar laptop. I was even able to use my Oculus Quest with the link cable to play VR games. A little choppy compared to the RTX 3060 on my desktop. Definitely can handle a lot and a really good value for the price. Battery life has been my only complaint so far.
