    "Value" 3080 laptop!

The 130W 3080 delivers great performance for the price ($2099.99) and is at least competitive with other offerings in this price range. There is no mux switch (a way to disable optimus internally) so you'll need to attach an external monitor to unlock 100% of the performance, but it performs just fine if you're not desperate for a few % more frames on the go. Attached image is my ffxiv benchmark with the laptop in it's stock configuration not bypassing optimus. You can search for "ffxiv benchmark" if you wanted to compare to your current setup. On top of being an actual ffxiv player, I find the game's benchmark to be one of the best since it toggles between cpu and gpu demanding scenes.

Overall this is a good gaming laptop for the price $1850 (sale price). At the regular price of $2150 I dont think its a good value anymore unless the issues I share in this review are fixed. From a component standpoint (cpu, ram, gpu, storage) the laptop is solid and performs really well. However, from a usability and a thunderbolt standpoint there are some red flags. The cooling is good but its loud. I didn't get to test the battery since it was plugged in most of the time. Usability - Doesn't save lighting settings for the keyboard. Every time you restart you have to change it back. - Keyboard is ok but the narrower keys definitely takes some getting used to. Personally, I don't think the added numpad is worth the compromise for a 15 inch laptop. - Webcam positioning is just flat out poor at the bottom of the screen looking up at your chin. - Power connection and 2nd USB port is on the right side of the laptop which causes bad cable management and can get in the when using external mouse and pad. Thunderbolt - Only works as a usb hub and thunderbolt. You can't connect a thunderbolt egpu to it for example. Nothing happens. I reached out to gigabyte about this and they had nothing to say except to send it in. Seems like a such an easy thing to QA that this oversight just comes across as lazy. I also read a post on reddit from someone else who has the same laptop and they couldn't get their thunderbolt display to work even after reaching out to gigabyte support.

So far it’s been really cool and fairly quiet for the power. I own Alienware and Asus laptops and this one performs the best and stays the coolest. Only issue is Fusion software won’t save RGB settings. Definitely sold on Gigabyte laptops from here on.

ok Honest Review here. i bought this laptop thinking its have 16 gb gddr6, its not. its have 8 gb. AND SHARED 16 GB, so you got 8 gb dedicated and 16b shared memory. this laptop have the right size, but its made of plastic and its feel nice but its plastic. bezels are small performance is average for the price but i remember asking best buy if this laptop have the Fat 16 gb dedicated ram and they said YES!. If you need a dedicated 16 gb gddr6, this is not your laptop, if you want a powerful laptop that can move a truck, yes this can.

was hesitant about purchasing this laptop. for the price, i thought I'd give it a chance. description says rtx 3080 16gb. actually 8gb but combined graphics is 16gb when tested. the thunderbolt port had no issues displaying to monitor but does not charge laptop. the rgb keyboard is nice but might need a firmware update. sometimes the fn+arrows don't work to change patterns. sometimes i have to go into the control center to change or turn off rgb lights. the keyboard defaults to the rainbow pattern going across the keyboard when turning on. the display can hold a webcam with no problems.i don't think anyone uses the webcam that comes with laptop since its on the keyboard and not on the display. unless you like up-nose shot video conferences. very fast laptop. video editing and exporting is better than my desktop. game play is also great. played for a couple of hours and edited some videos. heat was not an issue but fans did get a bit loud. liked that this laptop can be upgraded later on unlike others that are not upgradable. not bad for the price. would buy again and recommend.

Great 15" Gaming Laptop I've had some time with this new laptop, and I will highly recommend it overall. It doesn't receive 5 stars simply because that's perfect and although this laptop is not perfect, it is great. The hardware specs - this laptop comes equipped with a powerful combination of gaming hardware. In theory, the 8 core Intel I7 and the RTX 3080 mobile should be overkill for 1080 FHD gaming. The 32 GB of ram means you don't have to upgrade this out of the box, and the 1TB SSD gives you plenty of storage to start off with. The 240hz display looks very good, and that high refresh rate helps to make gaming look super smooth. In the short time that I've had this laptop, it hasn't done anything weird or shown any signs of instability. The display - looks great and has no backlight bleeding off the bat. Gaming is super smooth when you're hitting high FPS on this screen. The bezels are thin, except at the bottom. The webcam - as many others have complained, this is in a weird place that probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I won't be using this if I need to jump on a video conference, however in a pinch, just maybe I will use it. The keyboard - at first use, the keyboard may feel somewhat crammed because this 15" laptop includes a num pad. The keys are horizontally maxed out as they go essentially up to the edge of the sides of the laptop. I do appreciate the num pad though, as there are times when this beast will be used for work and not just always for gaming. The feel of the keys is slightly better than average for a gaming laptop, although they don't have that mechanical feel I enjoy when gaming. The key backlighting has several options, however one minor complaint is that the shift key symbols on the keyboard aren't backlit, so in darkness, it is a little extra work to see the alternative shifted keys. The fans - can be controlled quickly by a function key combination. The maximum fan speed is very loud, which would probably be used when gaming, and when gaming, you'll probably want to be using a headset anyways so the loud fan noise on maximum setting shouldn't be an issue if you're using a headset. Under normal fan settings, the fan is fairly quiet and even during gaming I haven't heard the fans kick in to maximum speed on their own. The audio - I've never come to expect high quality audio on MOST gaming laptops, and this gaming laptop is no exception . The audio certainly doesn't impress by any means, and has that tinny feel to it. Of coarse, I'd always recommend using a good gaming headset when gaming, so the lackluster built in speakers shouldn't be a deal breaker. The ports - this laptop comes with fairly standard set of ports, including 3 USB A, 1 USB C, mini DP, HDMI 2.1, Wired LAN, and an SD Card reader. Gaming is a lot of fun on this laptop. The games are so smooth and the FHD resolution in combination with the high powered CPU and GPU will give you very high frame rates in many games, even at high or ultra settings. In Doom Eternal with custom settings (some ultra, some high) this laptop was getting between 160 - 210 FPS, generally in the 170 to 190 range. Diablo II - Resurrected looks so smooth on the high refresh display. I would certainly recommend this laptop for gaming as it really comes with the right set of powerful hardware and I've had a very positive experience with the laptop so far.

Basically the RTX 3090 laptop version.

This is DEFINETLY A 16 gig version! That other reviewer must have recieved the wrong unit, there isn’t any shared memory either. 32 gig of 3200 mhz DDR4. So the specs of this machine are CRAZYYY! Any other model i was able to find with the 16 gig GPU Were ALOT MORE $$!! 2600.00 was the closest MSI with the same specs. I dont know why they didnt just call it a 3090 with the 16 gig GPU!! I mean it’s still been nerfed more than previous generations as far as the performance gap between the desktop version of same model. Timespy benchmark i wasn’t quite able to break 10,000. Which kinda sux since there are several 8 gig versions from other brands that are able to hit 10,000. I took off 1 star for the build quality, it is not bad by any means it is just not as perfect as some of the ASUS’s or even the higher end DELLs. ******UPDATE******* tried the timespy benchmark again, not only did it break 10,000 it almost hit 11,000. See attatched pics, also attatched pics to show that it is a 16 gig rtx 3080. But to be totally honest the perfomance gap between destop card and notebook card is the largest I’ve ever seen, shame. On the 20 series it was like 10% difference, now it’s like 40%???!! A desktop RTX 3080 would hit at least 18,000 in timespy. This big of a difference has to be because of power restrictions/limitations. So untill they find a way to deliver at least 400 watts to our notebooks we will continue to see this trend

Starting out, I really enjoy this laptop, but it's not all sunshine with it either. The computer is fast, really fast. I haven't had really any hiccups. I went to windows 11 right away and its ran smooth so far, just a little to get used to. Games run smooth, I haven't really taxed it too much though, thermals must be pretty decent because the fans don't get too loud while gaming. Compare that to my roommates Zepherus G15 (with the 3080) which sounds like it's going to take off to outer space. I don't enjoy that the laptop Bios is locked, so no undervolting, unless you go through a lot of steps to flash a new bios. There isn't a lot of info on doing this either, unless that I could find. Thermals seem fine so I'm not sure if it would even be worth it the bios unlocking, but I'm also a "tinkerer" so I enjoy dialing things like that in. I also don't enjoy that on every start up (from shutdown) my keyboard RGB goes to stock, so you have to go back into Control Center to change it. I got my laptop for 1800 before Black Friday, for a laptop with 32 gigs of RAM and a 3080. With that in mind, I am satisfied. This laptop is a dang good value in my opinion at that price but it's not perfect.

Its rtx 3080 with 8gb ddr6 and not 16. Runs very hot on top surface and make using keyboard difficult while gaming. Gigabyte control centre bugs alot. Battery life is worst lasts only 1.5 hous when a second display is connected. Basically rtx 3080 eats alot of power. Any app that fires up rhe gpu it will eat out battery like crazy. System is surely not optimized lots of driver issues.... Display is good. Gaming performace is good. Built quality is ok

Decent Value, but poor execution. Keyboard is flimsy, keys sound cheap and light, mouse pad isn't centered against the keyboard, but is offset to the left. In the end i valued QHD and Asus over this. I found this device heavier than the Asus Zephyrus G15. I valued battery life and Ryzen over 11th gen intel. In the end, its a great device for specs with caveats. Fast Refresh Monitor. But only FHD (1080p). Intel CPU for thunderbolt. But poor-(ish) battery life. Added num pad. But key proximity makes using it cumbersome.

Great laptop. So snappy. Whenever I’ve used it, I’ve always used it with an monitor. I use it on trips when I couldn’t bring my 3070 desktop. This 3080 laptop with 8gb of vram is about as powerful as my 3070 desktop. Cpu temps can get up to 70 C While playing so make sure to get a laptop stand. I got a laptop stand and the temps went down about 5 C. Gpu consistently stays cooler than the CPU. Other wise it’s beast of a machine for 1440p gaming. I game on 1440p so fps varies. I consistently get 150fps with low settings at 1440p on warzone, 100 fps on Forza on ultra with fidelity, 130 fps on avengers with fidelity, 130 fps on BF5 with mix of ultra/medium settings, 90 fps on AC Valhalla with high settings, 140fps on SWBF 2 with ultra/medium. I don’t use dlss or fildelity on my shooters. Thing is a beast if you have an external monitor. Highly recommend. Battery life is 1 hour if gaming and like 2 hours if you are browsing. I only use it when it’s plugged in.

I'm quite pleased with this laptop. The 3080 runs on about par with a 3060ti which can be expected with a laptop card. The included software lets you manage fans and clock speed which is nice. When plugged in and in overclocked mode it runs new world on max settings at about 110fps and stays around 58-62C with very reasonable fan noise. I do use an extra cooler underneath though. You can max out the fans and performance but then it sounds like a jet plane. Only oroblem i had was it didnt come with my windows key. I emailed them about ut and got my key in about 3-4 days. No opinion on the screen as I almost exclusively run this out to a series of 3 monitors. It has zero issues running a game on one screen, a website on another. And amazon music on the third. Does exactly what I wanted it to at a reasonable price. Hopefully it is durable but too soon to say on that!

Overall, I am disappointed with my purchase. The first one had low battery life, a video glitch (constant screen flicker rendering it unusable) and had to be replaced immediately out of the box. The second one still has low battery life - under 2 hours with one attached monitor simply doing taxes online. The same video glitch is not present but, at times, the graphics behavior seems questionable. It will tile a game window over top of the task bar and earlier on, while running a game and having Excel open at the same time, the image quality of the Excel window was akin to a 480i standard definition television. That last one seems to have cleared up and I'm not certain if these issues are graphics or software related.

Absolute beast of a laptop. Almost every current gen game I've tested has ran well above 100fps at max settings. Connected to a 4k monitor or tv and it'll still manage to keep 60fps at Ultra sittings. Last game I tested was Forza Horizon 5 and it ran beautifully. Even had ray tracing set to high and it still managed 60fps. My only issue is the battery life but it is a gaming laptop so I'm not too surprised. You should keeped it plugged in with demanding games anyway Other than that, the rgb keyboard is spiffy and it loads up the OS and applications after that very quickly. The price on this model has unfortunately increased. I paid a little over 2k after tax.

Great laptop for the price. Runs everything well. Its a 3080 so it does run hot, but in laptop form its to be expected. One gripe i have is their bloatware. Popup on the bottom right switching between "gaming" and "normal" and "meeting" modes constantly and popping up rendering that corner unusable.
