Great value in the Z690 DDR5 space

Built using a i9-12900K, Samsung 980 PRO 2TB NVMe, Corsair DDR5 5600 C36 (CMK32GX5M2B5600C36), and Corsair iCUE H150i all from Best Buy. **After a firmware update** it works great with W10 pro (neither the memory or NMVe worked with the BIOS revision that was on the board as shipped). This board is a terrific value in the Z690 DDR5 family. The LED debug and on-board power button make it friendly to a builder. The quality was above average with an attractive board and metal heat sinks (no plastic). This board isn't full of LED (just the AORUS logo on the I/O shield). That was my preferred look (see below). Suggestion: Don't install the Gigabyte APP Center. While it installs the drivers it also installs things like Norton Anti-Virus and you might not want that. Read the reviews online for more details.

To say this board, after spending $355 with tax, was a pain to work with was an understatement. Was excited to try out the Samsung nvme M.2 980 Pro 2TB on my new board but immediately the board wouldn't recognize it. I assumed it was possibly DOA (SSD), yet it worked fine in another PC. After perusing the interwebs, turned out its becuase the BIOS right out of the gate does *not* support nvme. Updating the bios remedied the issue of the nvme not being connected, which brought me to the next issue, windows refusing to install on it. I had to download a more recent installer (Windows 10 USB installer from Amazon was older) which has the nvme driver on it. The driver provided by Gigabyte failed every time. With the newer updated OS installer, I was able to install Windows but when the computer reboots, it no longer detects the nvme as a bootable device. After a multitude of different tries of finnessing with the BIOS settings (secure boot/Other OS), and 10 hours of my life wasted between this and Gigabyte support, I am returning the board and going with MSI. My last board from Gigabyte worked great so I'm not sure what happened with their firmware. I've had an expensive paperweight for a couple weeks. It's a nice looking board at least, so 2/5 for that.

Great board, no compatibility issues. I flashed my bios to 8a on from Gigabyte’s website with QFlash+. Was super easy. My G.Skill Trident 6000mhz memory works great. Made a powerhouse PC with this thing. Love it.

Per the other reviews, the bios may need to be updated in order for the MOBO to work properly during setup. Item arrived exactly as described (purchased open box excellent) and was able to save a few bucks.

Before buying this motherboard make sure you understand how to update bios. It will not function or recognize drives with an update. In my opinion you shouldn’t sell a product that can’t function without a bios update. After the update it worked flawlessly though.
