Will return to store this week. I received and charging base had a film I could not remove. I think it was stored I heat and the film melted to base. I was unable to reach customer service as they hung up on me after extremely difficult time navigating automated prompts.

    Really Impressive Shaving Results!

Having been a 20 year+ wet shaver, always using budget friendly razors for the most part, I wasn't sure what to expect from a $200 razor. Presumably, a lot better shave, for the money, at least! Well, I can gladly say that I am actually blown away by this razor! The GilletteLabs Heated Razor is phenomenal! I really wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is. I am originally from Scotland, so I am no stranger to hair. My 5 o'clock shadow usually starts around 9:30am... so the Heater Razor had a lot to contend with. Pulling it out of the (sleek looking) packaging, there is the razor itself, a replacement cartridge, a really heavy magnetic wireless charging base and a power adapter. (Gillette, if you're reading this) There really needs to be some protective packaging around the side of the charging base, as mine was a little marred up from the plastic when unboxing (which you don't really want to see on a $200 product). It did wipe off with a cloth, so not the end of the world. I plugged the charging base in, and set the razor up in the cradle to activate it, as Gillette calls it. It's innovative magnetic design means that the razor is stood to attention on the base, a pulsing white circle glows around the base of the razor and a ring on the front of the razor pulses as well to let you know it's charging. The razor takes 6 hours to fully charge, and that offers 18 mins of heated use. Once charged, just pick up the razor, press the button in the middle and it will illuminate orange to let you know it's heating up. The heat bar warms up in 1 second (yes, one second). On initial set up, the bar warms to the hottest setting, if you press and hold the power button until the light bar changes from orange to yellow, it will now be on the lower heat setting. The razor will remember this setting and upon using it a subsequent time, the lower setting will be used. If you forget to turn off the razor, it has an auto shut off after 8 minutes. So - Attack of the Hair™ - I lathered up using some Gillette shaving foam, let it sit for a moment to do it's work. I lifted up the razor, turned it on to warm it up and then put it against my face. You absolutely, 100% notice it. It's hot. You feel it on your face, through the cooling sensation of the shaving gel. The 5 blade shaving head effortlessly glided down my cheek, lifting the hairs and cutting them, aided by the heating bar. I only had to go over my cheek once in any direction. It shaved THAT WELL! Normally, with cheap disposable razors, I hunt and peck across my face, tracking down the hairs like some sort of game hunter. No such need with this razor, it really was astounding! I have a beard, so shave out the cheeks, and below the chin. The cheeks were completely effortless, one quick 'L' shaped glide and I was hair free. Under the chin, right from my jaw line down my neck, I usually do many 2" long strokes. No such need with this razor, it was quick, painless, smooth, no nicks or cuts at all. And as you would expect, it is completely waterproof, so you can shave in the shower if you so choose. The flex disc technology allows the head to swivel, following the contour of your face, and when you slide it forward, it releases the cartridge. They are very easy to pop out and replace. Really happy with how this razor works. It really is fantastic! I went all day yesterday without stubble, which in itself is a rarity! I've already recommended it to my buddy across the street. He's got his on order now! I'm waiting to see how long the cartridges last now though, as they are not cheap to replace. A pack of 4 is $25. Time will tell. Overall, this razor is fantastic, expensive, yes, but I would have to say, totally worth it.

I was a bit skeptical about how the heating would affect the comfort level of the shave, but it is well worth it! It helps to soothe your skin as you're shaving to minimize the potential for shave bumps and irritation. The five blade of the razor combine with the heating element and pivoting head to provide one of the closest shaves you will experience! And, being a new razor in the house, my better half used it on her legs and loved how close the razor was able to cut and how comfortable the pivot head and heating element made the shaving experience. Batter life is great, I have had it for a week and charged it only once for my daily face clean up and she shaved her legs twice one the single charge! The charger looks great and is easy to use/set up and you are given an extra shave head in the box!

Ever since my favorite Internet Razor retailer went out of business, I’ve been wondering what I was going to do once I ran out of my blade stockpile. When the Gillette Labs Heated razor hit my doorstep, I was excited to try something new. I tried their “vibrating” razor a long time ago, but it didn’t do anything for me; I found it to be a terrible razor, actually. Once it showed up, I went right to see how much the blades were a piece -- yeah. For the retail price of this and only getting 2 blades, I’m a bit disappointed. Now here, we have a razor with a non-water friendly charging dock. Where does one keep this if there is no grounding and it can’t get wet? Well, I put an outlet in my bathroom closet, so that’s where I keep mine. But you also ‘can’t just leave it on the charging dock,’ so I guess I keep it mostly not-charging in the shower. You have to remember about an hour before you want to use it - then to remember to top it off on the dock. Me? I use it in the shower and there’s not often that much time. The dock and handle interact via a magnet. It stands up by itself, no worrisome ports that could get hit and bent/broken and blinks slowly, indicating that it’s charging. I gave it 4 full shaves before writing this review. To me, that’s a good amount of times to go through the motions and different settings before making a final call. It’s a big handle and it feels so. Not heavier, but just bigger - for the internal battery and whatnot. I’m actually a bit surprised that it’s not heavier than it is. It has a pivoting / rocking blade head; I’m not sure how much it came into play however, but it’s there. The cartridge right above the pivoting part has the little heat strip at the bottom which heats just about as instantly as you’d expect. For having 5 blades, there is minimal clogging. Typically, the more blades, the less space between them and the more time rinsing out the clogs. In this case, it cleaned out nice and quickly; as a shower shaver, I approve. The blades themselves don’t go to the edges, or even close for that matter. It’s like a lawnmower that you have to do 1.5 passes before you get a nice clean run. I found it missed (or, I did because it’s narrower than you’d expect) - by quite a bit - and often. I did have random stragglers by the corner of my mouth and chin. For the 4 runs, I ran it on each setting twice. On the 2nd run, the hottest setting gave me a heat rash on my neck - little white headed bumps all over - not cool. I dropped it to the other setting (yellowish vs a reddish light), and the next two times, it was good - no burning. If you have sensitive skin, I don’t recommend “high.” Overall, I’m not a huge fan of this razor. One, for the replacement blade costs; but then again, if you’re spending this much on a razor, maybe the per-blade cost doesn’t matter. And two - because of the inconsistent shave. And a distant third … it burned my neck. Do I recommend it? Nope, sorry; I don’t.

I went without shaving for a whole week in anticipation for this thing and I will never do that again, if I can help it. Bottom line: I loved the shave experience with this this razor. The razor gets comfortably hot while shaving. It can be submerged, as it is completely water resistant. Which means it's great for men and women who like to shave in the tub or shower. The charge lasts for 18 minutes, which is a long time for a shave. If you're taking longer to shave, I don't know what to tell ya. I can't help but rave about how great my skin felt after the shave. The only caveat is the price. $200 dollars. But this new tech and new tech costs. If you're in the market and you've got the money to burn, you could do a lot worse than this. Having tried a number of razors, old school, electric, trimmers, beard specific, etc etc, I was very intrigued to see what this had to offer in the way of a quality grooming experience. I have always preferred electric due to not having to worry about shaving cream, the quickness of it all, and the fact the clean up process is (for the most part) contained in the unit itself (at least on the model I have). With all that in mind, I again was willing to give this bad boy a shot. Out of the box you have a charger cable, base, extra blade, and the shaver itself with a pre-installed blade. There is a nice weight to the base and shaver, everything feels solid and of nice quality. The magnetic base of the shaver means you're always going to have a good connection with it and the base. After turning it on, heat is provided nearly immediately. Not being one to shave in the shower, I have always done the whole "run hot water over the blade" immediately before shaving, then rinse, run hot water on it, etc etc to get the same results that this provides. It is extremely satisfying to have the warmth from the blade and know it is opening up the follicle to provide that little bit extra closeness with it's shaving capabilities. Is it visible to the naked eye? I'm not 100% sure, but I can feel that my shave is cleaner feeling for a little longer than usual. And that's compared to my electric shaver and my conventional one with fresh blades on it. Could it be placebo? Who knows, all I know is I like it and that's all that matters. Definitely recommend this, especially if it's on sale. Full price is the only reason why I'm detracting a star, because I don't know if this is *really* a $200 worthy item. Early adopters with extra cash in their pocket, sure, why not. Otherwise, wait for a sale or some gift cards to come your way.

I can say I didn't know heated razors existed until I found out about the Gillette Heated Razor. I was already familiar with the brand, but it's been some years since I looked into newer stuff. In short this razor is amazing. It feels like you are shaving with a hot towel on your face with each stroke of the blade. Very smooth feeling, and definitely did not leave razor bumps or rashes. Very simple setup. Just plug in the charging base, and the razor stands up on it magnetically to charge. Charged it for an hour for the first use, and it worked flawlessly. I couldn’t be happier. This product is definitely worth the price, especially if you value having a smooth face.

The convenience of a hot towel shave in the comfort of my own home. This new Gillette Heated Razor Starter Kit is pretty impressive and had me convinced that this was the nicest shave I've had yet. We all know Gillette for their years of excellence in making shave products for the modern man. This new Heated Razor really takes it up a notch and makes for a smooth and comfortable shave without irritation. In this kit you will find the magnetic charging base station, wall charging plug, handle, 2 blade cartridges. The highlight of this Heated Razor that makes it stand apart from the other versions is the stainless steel warming bar. It can heat up in a second and has a nice warmth on the surface of your skin where it comes in contact with it. The temperature can be set to two heat settings as you figure out what is best suited for your needs. Orange color on the LED bar shows that it's a higher heat at the 122 degree F setting, and the yellow LED shows that it's a 109 degree F. This razor handle can be used in the sink for a shave or the shower, since it's waterproof. The blades are very similar to what I'd expect from a Gillette razor from the Fusion lineup. The warming bar is what stays in contact with your skin and provides that warmth to your skin from the bottom of the blade area. As you glide it across, you get that activation of the hair follicles to stand up and get a closer shave than with an ordinary blade setup. This has made my shaves smoother and closer. I feel like I am able to get an effortless glide across my skin and the heat has a soothing and comforting feel to it. Yes it's a pricey grooming tool, but it's an investment in yourself and your look. Maintaining a clean cut look for a whole face shave, trimmed look, or body shaving is key. This Heated Razor Kit is by far the best I've experienced in smoothness. PRO: Smooth shave Sharp blades Heated warmth for comfort CONS: Cost

When I first thought about obtaining a heated razor I have to say I wasn’t really sure why I was doing so. Razors and blades already aren’t inexpensive. I stared at the packaging and the seductive glowing image for at least 10 minutes, shrugged, and started the unboxing process. Much like the joy of extracting a well-known premium phone, this was a joyful process. The razor is beautiful and unusual. It has a heft that is to be expected for the size and expense. It feels good in your hand, but not too heavy. The charging base is also stunning and solid. A strong magnet allows the razor to stand without a mechanical connection, making it seem magical (and also easy to clean). I wish the base had battery to recharge the razor...maybe in the next version. That said, I’ve used the razor 6 times and haven’t had to recharge it yet. So let’s talk about the razor, and the heat feature. There are two heat levels, with a change in the lighting to indicate the setting. It turns on and reaches temperature very quickly. The first two times I used it, I flinched because the idea and feeling of a hot strip of metal on your face seems unwise. However, the feeling is wonderful. It’s a luxury, like getting a professional hot towel shave. I actually look forward to shaving now. Oh, and it provides a great shave. Smooth and comfortable.

    Great Shave With Unnecessary(?) Features

I’ve always been very simple in my shaving routine, preferring generic disposable 3 blade razors. When I got this Proctor & Gamble (Gillette) Heated Razor I wasn’t sure what to expect, why did it matter if the razor heated up on top of having five blades? The box is fancy, as you can see in the pictures, and opens much like a tech gadget with a slip case over the actual box which contains the razor handle, a magnetic charging “puck”, two bladed heads, and the AC adapter to plug into the wall and puck. There’s a simple set of instructions that are more pictures than words to explain the basic on/off and warm/hot functions. I’ve used it a few times now trying both heat settings (yellow for warm 109 degrees F or red for hot 122 degrees F) as well as leaving the power off. As a product the handle is hefty without being heavy, it feels like a quality product and durable too! The neck bends side to side as well as the standard head back and forth movement so you can really work the contours of your face. I don’t know how to feel about the charging base, as its small enough to be unimposing but I prefer to have my 24/7 charging products not next to a sink that fills and splashes water almost 24/7 (although the box says the charge lasts six shaves and only takes 2-3 hours so you could just charge it when it needs to). While charging it pulses a white light, which made for a fair night light briefly when I charged it for the first time. I have yet to run out of charge so I can verify the battery does last for several sessions. I appreciated the five blade shaving, I was able to get a good smooth face without a lot of repeating areas, but it wasn’t much better than three blades. However the point of this product is the heating pad under the blades which offers you a “hot towel” shaving experience. I don’t know why you would want a hot towel experience but I know that it’s not for me. I found that shaving with the hot/red mode felt like shaving with a hot poker. When I tried the warm/yellow setting it still felt like something fresh out of the dishwasher against my face which I found unpleasant. I assume this has something to do with opening pores and getting a closer cleaner shave but to me it won’t be worth the discomfort of coming just this side of burning myself to get a slightly smoother shave. While I am sure that I could become accustomed to the warm/yellow mode I doubt I’ll make the effort. Refills for the razor are available for a quarter the cost of the razor, which is not too bad depending how often your shave (blades are advertised to last 15 shaves, which for me is about a month….more or less). However generic razors, even five blade razors are a fraction of that so unless you need a heated razor I don’t feel I could recommend this product to the average shaving Joe.

I have been a Gillette power razor user for decades and got excited when I saw this heated razor, and was eager to try it out. I have a thick beard and prefer to shave in a steamy shower. I also use the shaving brush with shaving gel to soften my skin before I shave. I did a two week test and tried the heated Gillette razor on one side and my usual powered razor on the other side of my face. In the steamy shower I didn’t see any difference in my skin sensitivity between the heated and the powered razor, and both offered a close shave. I don't have any razor bump issues if I warm my skin before I shave. So for being a shower user I didn’t notice any difference between the heated and powered razor. The heated razor got hot enough that I decided to try it out without warming my face (cold shave) and I did see some difference in the quality of the shave. Felt like the powered razor was pulling the hair off my chin while the heated razor did offer a bit smoother shave, so it does help for someone who doesn't shave in a steamy shower or uses a heated towel to soften their skin before their shave. Overall I didn’t see much value for the heated razor and probably would try it out if it were powered and heated razor. The razor does heat quickly though and didn't feel like it softened the skin enough for me to switch to cold shaves. I feel like it takes few seconds for the heat to penetrate the skin to soften the hair follicles for a smoother shave and the heated razor heat was more ephemeral. It was tough for me to justify the value I get from the pricey razor and the custom blades you need for this razor. Can't comment on the durability as I only tried it for 2 weeks (6 shaves). It is well built and has a magnetic stand that charges the razor. It heats up fast and reaches 120 degF in few seconds and I didn't have any problem using it in the shower. The will need a safe carrying case for travel to prevent it from accidentally turning itself ON.

Unlike the fusion, the 5 blades are packed closer together, which allows you for a more precise shave without the greater risk of irritating your skin; this also allows you to target more problematic areas, such as the space underneath your nostrils. This item heats up quickly to 2 settings: orange and red. I recommend trying the former setting before the latter, because it can cause irritation for some people. Replacing the blades can be costly for some people, but I view that as a consumer complaint rather than an actual flaw.

I was very excited to try this product as I get frequent razor burn. This item comes with the charging dock, razor, and 2 blade sets. Before your first use, charge it on the dock to get a maximum shaving time. One of the best features about this razor is that it’s waterproof so it can be used in the shower. The razor itself heats up very quickly and provides a warm soothing feeling. I feel that the heat helps give a closer shave that leaves you feeling smooth afterwards. The included blades are very effective at removing hair and also giving you an extremely close shave. The replacement blades are also available for auto-ship through the Gillette website. The only downfall of this product is the price point is higher. This product does feel like it will be long lasting and live up to the price in quality.
