Manufacturers continue to surprise us with their innovative methods of increasing their revenues by providing consumers with less value for their money.
Several years ago manufacturers began omitting printed user manuals with even the most expensive and complex products. Cables and accessories which are essential for the functional use of technology products and consumer electronics are the latest victim of the new marketing strategy.
It has become a very pleasant surprise to purchase a new electronic product and actually find everything that is needed to start using the product included in the box.
When it was first revealed that the Google Pixel 6 would ship without a charger I was disappointed. After all, the prior Pixel phones had all included the charging brick with cable (and even a USB C to USB A adaptor).
Clearly, Google is done with spoiling us consumers by actually including the charger with their phones. I nevertheless ordered a new Pixel 6 recently, and therefore was obliged to purchase the essential charger separately. Evidently, charging the battery to use the Pixel phone is now an optional activity, requiring an optional charger, if you really believe that charging the battery is something you want to do.
While waiting for my new, optional charger to arrive for my new Pixel 6, I used the charger from my wife’s Pixel 4XL. That 18 watt charger worked fine, but since our cell phones have the annoying habit of both needing to be recharged simultaneously, it was necessary for me to purchase this “optional” charger for the Pixel 6.
The Google 30 Watt charger is physically slightly larger than the 18 Watt charger that was generously included with the Pixel 4XL. Likewise, the 1 meter USB A to USB A cable is slightly thicker and stiffer than the cable that came with the Pixel 4XL.
This new USB charging cable is of course, also “optional”, since the charging block is also sold sans cable, just in case you want to experiment with other USB cables that you have collecting around the house. Prior Pixel phones were selective and “finicky” with many USB cables, and notoriously would not charge with many cables.
I found that the new 30 Watt charger was only slightly faster in charging the Pixel 6 than the 18 Watt charger, which is not terribly surprising since it has been well documented that the Pixel 6 is limited to a 23 watt charging rate. Perhaps the Pixel 7 will fast-charge at a 30 watt rate?
In summary, the Google 30 Watt Charger and USB Cable perform as expected. They charge the Pixel phone.
The fact that this Google Charger, which is essential and fundamental for making use of the Pixel phone is now optional begs the question of what will be optional next.
Of course, Pixel buyers may opt to purchase any of the 3rd party corded chargers or wireless chargers on the market in order to perhaps save a few dollars, while hoping that the chargers work properly without damaging the phone.
However, it is simpler to capitulate and just purchase the Google Charger that should be included in the box with a new Pixel phone. I do appreciate that it works as expected.

Charger works pretty well, and has fast-charging. Downside is that it's pretty dang short. Included hand for scale in image attached. Did not read length before purchasing as I was urgently in need of a new phone and simply bought what was available. If you just want to buy an official(?) charger, then by all means. But if you need any more distance that about 3 feet.. I'd have to recommend looking elsewhere, unfortunately. (Personal gripe, why couldn't this be Android C into usb... it being AC into AC makes it such a hassle.)

A solid 30w charger good for cell phones and smaller. Good value with the included cable. Has the standard 5,9,15,20 volt output modes with the slightly older PD3.0 (3.1 is out now). It has a PPS which is a must have in chargers today which supports additional 11,16,21 volt output modes. Always make sure you have a genuine google branded charger lots of cheaper imitations on the secondary market. Look for the G. ;-)

I bought this charger for my Pixel phone. It charges fast and is well made. I usually buy third party chargers since they're half the price, but you get what you pay for. This charger is worth the extra cost.

Excellent charger and it is fast. Works just as fast on Samsung phones as it does on Pixels. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is simply for corporate greed pricing.

It's a premium product. The 30W USB-C charger is working well, charging my pixel 7 pro and the USB-C to USB-C cable is designed to last and more superior than the lightning cable (broken in 2 years)haha.
I hope the next gen charger is smaller.

This charger works well with my Google Pixel 6 Pro. I was previously using an off-brand lower watt charger but it broke so I decided to splurge and go for the official Google charger this time around. I'm happy I did because it feels like quality. The box is slim and easy to open and the charger and cord were securely held within. It plugs into my phone and the wall with no struggle. It charges my phone quickly and the cord is the perfect length for me, not too long or too short. The charger brick is small and can fit in my purse, which will be nice to take with me when I go out and about. I have no complaints with this charger and everything about it works exactly as expected. I feel comfortable and confident it works well with my phone, given they're both Google products. I'm happy with my purchase.
