    Nest flood light camera

The flood lights are nice and bright and the camera quality is good. The reasons for 1 star reduction are it is having difficulty staying connected to the wifi even though there is a booster near it and it won’t allow me to use the old nest app (a more user friendly app). In order to monitor the feed I had to install it thru the google home app which means my door bell and other cameras are not all viewable at the same time. A previous review indicated I would have to build a mount since it was being installed under a soffit so that was known when I bought the light but nest should consider that because not everyone is installing on the side of a wall.

Hi Kpearson, thanks for sharing your insights with us on Nest Cam with Floodlight. We are sorry to hear that you're experiencing connectivity issues, and for the disappointment you have with the move we made from the Nest app to the Google Home app for the new generation of Nest cameras.

We understand that long time Nest user, like you, enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. The new Nest Cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays. If you´re willing to try, you may set up your older Nest cameras on the Google Home app as well. For more information, check out this help article:
      https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9293657

Connectivity issues are mostly related to different factors, including congestion in your network and possible sources of interference. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. You may then check to see if you will still experience the same connectivity issue. We also recommend checking for possible sources of interference such as the thick walls and appliances in your home.

    Best Wireless camera I’ve bought

I put this on my detached garage and it picks people up from across the street that even my doorbell camera can’t. The floodlight is impressively bright, looking at it you wouldn’t expect any where near the light it puts out, plus the camera has a night vision mode for when the floodlight kicks off.

I bought this camera floodlight combo because my backyard didnt have a camera and the only lught was a small porch light. I set it up myself as my first attempt at DIY electronics. It was easy enough and honestly the hardest part was doing everything on a ladder. The adjustable lights and camera made it easy to ensure I wasn't lighting my neighbors window and got the camera to cover almost all of my backyard. The night vision is good quality and the camera has great face and movement recognition even on the periphery. The price could be cheaper but with connectability across google home devices its not bad when you pair it with other cameras and the google home hub.

I have been running with this camera/floodlight combo for over a year. Bought a second one for additional coverage. The light is super bright and dimmable. Camera is great quality and has no problems with the lights on or off. Setup in the app was easy. The google home universe makes it easy to control the light with the "hey google" feature. Certainly would appreciate a lower price, but it does a good job and has lasted a while for me! Photos show a night light off, night light on, and daytime.

My dad installed it with no problem. Added it to my google home and synced it with my other google device so I could live stream it from my google nest hub. Night vision is in black and white. Once something is detected and the light turns on you will be able to see it in normal color. When you live stream it at night the light will turn on. I think it shows excellent quality videos. Only con is if you wanted to turn the light on (for some reason) during the day, you have to click on it separately. Google home separates the light and the camera in the app. Not a big deal for me.

The camera was easy to set up and had really good detailed instructions. The picture is pretty clear especially in the rain. Sometimes the notification do pick up things such as a raindrop as a moving vehicle but it's not constant. I set this one up in my backyard and like the way everything looks and works. My only downfall was that it cannot be added to the Nest app but it is quickly accessible through the Google home app I just like having all my Nest cameras in one app.

Not impressed with this Google Home Camera

Cliff Notes: - Mediocre Camera - Downgrade from the original Nest Outdoor Camera - Good Spotlights - Lights up my backyard and I love being able to use Google Assistant to turn it on and off. - Poor Night Vision - It's a good thing the spotlights turn on when it detects something otherwise the camera would be useless at night. We purchased this Google Home Camera Spotlight to replace a single camera (TP-Link Kasa) and have better lighting in the backyard. As you can see from the pictures I added, we're having our entire backyard done. Since we're adding a pool, we wanted a much better camera¹ than what we currently had for the backyard. We also wanted to have more lighting² than our single bulb back porch light provided. Failed for first point and and succeeded for the second. Having read about the New "Nest" Outdoor Camera, I already knew about a couple of the shortcomings. The main one being that it is not compatible with the Nest App. That's why I am referring to it as the Google Home Spotlight Camera. For those wondering, how this camera differs from the new outdoor battery camera, it doesn't. It's the same camera but with a spotlight attachment. It's even listed in the set up as the Battery Camera. So any shortcomings that camera has, this one likely does as well. Installing the spotlight camera is not complicated but don't count on any real instructions. I mean it is just installing white wire to white wire, black wire to black wire and the ground to an attached screw. Unfortunately, due to my old hands, I had difficulty installing the mounting brackets to where my porch light was at. I ended up buying a junction box that made things much easier (for me). As you can see in picture of it mounted on the wall, the junction box makes it stick out a lot more than it already did. However, I won't count this against the camera since I chose to add the box for my ease. This isn't our first Nest Camera but it is our first of the new Google Home cameras. We have a Nest Hello (doorbell), two original indoor Nest Cameras, two original outdoor Nest Cameras, and two outdoor IQ cameras. Let me say this right off the bat, this spotlight camera doesn't even come close to being comparable to the IQ camera. That's to be expected though. Unfortunately, it's not even as good as the original outdoor camera. The image quality seems to be worse and so is the night vision. As you can see in picture #2, without the spotlights turned on, you can't see much. Picture #3 is of the Kasa Cam without any lights. The "light" that you see is from the Google Home Camera's IR lights. I don't know why the Kasa Cam benefits from the Google Home IR lights while the Google Home Camera itself does not. Picture #4 is of the Google Home camera with the spotlights turned on. As for the actual spotlight's themselves, they are fairly bright. I would have preferred a daylight white over the warmish white but they get the job done. It's actually because of the spotlights that I am likely to keep the Google Home Spotlight. While a smart bulb in the porch light sconce would have allowed us to use Google Assistant to light up the backyard, it would only illuminate the area close to the door. The spot light allows us to spread out the light to the entire backyard. That and there aren't too many options out there for a 24/7 recording spotlight camera. Overall, if you are okay with average video quality, good lighting and want a 24/7 recording spotlight, then this camera might suffice.

Hi Sammy, thanks for sharing your detailed experience with Nest Cam with Floodlight. We're sorry to hear about the poor experience you're having with the video quality and night vision.

We wanted to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, and Google Assistant. It offers you a lot more benefits since you have access to Google´s security features as well. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. If you´re willing to try, you may set up your other Nest Cameras to the Google Home app. Here´s a guide that you can follow: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532

Similar to Nest Cam IQ Outdoor, your Nest Cam (Battery) has full HD resolution with HDR video quality that’s optimized for a clear view in bright sun or dark. Your Nest cameras will also require a high speed broadband internet connection with at least 2 Mbps upload speed per camera for optimal performance. We recommend checking if you're having enough bandwidth to run all your Nest cameras. You may also verify congestion by removing some of your other connected devices and check if the video quality for your Nest Cam with Floodlight will improve. Once you verify the presence of congestion, upgrading your bandwidth may be the best option.

Night Vision video quality can also be affected by internet speed and other issues, but most Night Vision specific issues are caused by the camera’s infrared light that reflects off a surface near the camera, like a shelf, window, window screen, or wall. Here are some recommended steps that may be helpful with the issue:
      - Clean the lens with a soft cloth that’s made for cleaning optics. Dust, thumbprints, and dirt can cause poor image quality.
      - Turn your camera so that any nearby surfaces or objects (like a wall) are out of view.
      - Use the Google Home app to Zoom and Enhance and crop out surfaces or objects that may be the cause of the glare.
      - If a bright white shape along the edge appears while everything else is too dark, there might be a surface that’s too close in your camera’s view (like a wall). Angle your camera so the surface stays out of view.
      - Move nearby objects that may reflect the infrared light.

We value your feedback and we'll make sure to pass them along to our product team, since we're always searching for ways to improve our products and services. And, if you will allow us, we'd like to work on providing you a better experience. Please feel free to reach out to our support team here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

I have other outdoor nest cams and was waiting for a floodlight from Google. Unfortunately, my current floodlight was under the eave. For what this costs, I decided to mount this horizontally (as it was designed). To make sure it was up to code, I had an electrician help me. Overall, the actual set up of the camera was easy (like other Google products) and I think it works really well. However, this product seems rushed (every competitor has a floodlight) with the software side being disjointed. Google wants to provide an "integrated experience", but you need to use two apps for your cameras? I do pay a monthly fee with Nest aware and the price is independent of the number of cameras, so I have not waited for Google to work the kinks out. I recommend the product and have my fingers crossed that everything will be integrated soon.

I have been waiting years for these LITERALLY. I will start off with the good. It is Nest so it has all the smart features with recognizing people and does not pick up random gnats that fly by. The overall setup was easier than my Eufy and connected easily as I have other nest products. The only downside for me is that is my floodlight mount is on the underside of my roof (whatever that word for it is) and not on a wall so looks kind of goofy to me. I will be returning these and getting the new Ring ones set to deliver in a few weeks but overall I think it is worth the buy if you are into nest/google. The other downside is that the it uses the Google Home app to connect which is okay but I do not get snippets as notifications so I have to click into the app every time unlike with ring/nest(app) maybe this will get fixed for iPhone
