    Great Little Device

The first and most simple is the included remote control. (You'll find AAA batteries for it in the box.) It's a simple Bluetooth Smart remote, meaning that line of sight doesn't really matter and you can tuck the Nexus Player out of the way without worry. And it's a simple remote (and nearly a dead ringer for what Amazon's using with the Fire TV), with just a circular D-pad with selection button in the middle, back, play/pause and home. And note that the Home button sports a circle in the Android 5.0 fashion, and not a house. There's also a search button above the D pad. To search, you just tap that button, wait for the on-screen prompt — it's fast — and then speak. There's a mic in the remote that'll pick up your voice. (Unlike the Amazon Fire TV, you don't have to hold down the search button while you're speaking. Just press it once and you're done. The one thing I want from the remote that's not there is volume support. You're going to be ingesting a lot of media on the Nexus Player. But you're also going to have to scramble for your usual remote when things get too loud. Nexus Player gaming controller For another $39.99 you can pic up an ASUS gaming controller — and if you're going to do any gaming on the Nexus Player, we suggest you get one if you don't have another Bluetooth gaming pad laying around.

    Great streaming box

Picking a media streamer gets down to finding one that supports the services that you want, and plays them well. One of this box's main missing services is Amazon Instant Video, but I have other devices to play that. Note note that not all Android apps work on Android TV boxes, but some can be sideloaded and then work. I wanted this mostly for Kodi which is available as an easy download from the Google app store. I won't review Kodi here (if you already know about it you want it) but will say that unlike an expensive and highly rated Chinese streaming box, this one passes DD and DTS in Kodi without any patches. YouTube and other standard Android apps work great. Google has been continuously updating the firmware and it now has Android Marshmallow. Unless you need 4K support, this is the box to buy.

We read about all of the players that existed before buying this one, and it is pretty awesome, very easy to use, and if I had to do it all over again would buy the same one. The only thing that is kind of lame, is that you can only connect one google account at a time. In order to switch accounts, you have to log out and log back in, where I wish Google would allow you to store a few usernames or connect multiple accounts. But all in all, this thing is pretty awesome.

    Great box, but flawed

I bought this mainly with the intention of using it for Sling TV. It serves its purpose for that, along with Netflix and whatever other apps I install from the Play Store, but I find this box is littered with bugs. Sometimes I feel like this is a neglected product by Google due to the lack of proper bug patches and updates. A constant bug I experience is with the wifi connection. I have to restart the device every time just to reestablish an Internet connection to do anything on the box. PROS: - Nice looking interface - Access to plenty of apps via the Play Store - Google Voice control is helpful - Access to Google account products via the cloud (downloaded music, movies, etc) CONS: - Bugs! - Unknown length of future Google support - Remote feels cheap - No hardwire Ethernet option Overall--a good product that has a lot to offer, but needs bug fixes.

Nexus player has all the functions of Google chromecast, plus it runs on android os and has lot of apps and games that can be installed from google play store. It also has a remote that can has a inbuilt mic for voice search. Only down side it does not have a LAN port and a regular USB port (it has a micro usb port though)

The Nexus player has a very sleek and practical design. Everything about is simplified and elegant. There aren't a lot of bells and whistles but I like that. They have added a bunch of new apps so I thinks it's well worth the low price. I highly recommend it as an entry level internet TV option.

Greatest streaming device I've ever owned

This is definitely my favorite streaming device I've ever owned. I've owned a Roku 3, an Amazon FireTV, a Vizio CoStar, a Google Chromecast, and a WD TV, as well as an Xbox 360 and an Xbox One, and this is now my favorite device for streaming content. I mostly use it with Plex, but also Netflix and the few Google movies that I do own. The interface on this is the smoothest and quickest responding of any streaming device I've ever owned. The voice search is great as well and even works within some apps (I've tried it in Plex. Not sure about others). I have also cast material to it as if it were a Chromecast and that worked well. Overall I'd really recommend this device for streaming content.

After playing with this android tv player for several weeks I was able to "sideload" many games and apps other boxes can't. I got rid of my premium cable channels and it is an awesome gaming counsel. At $50, best price anywhere!

I really love this product , I doesn't have 4K resolution, optical audio port and Ethernet but it's a Nexus device, the updates are really fast , besides it has an affordable price, I payed like $60 it's almost the price of two second gen Chromecast , it's not as good as the Shield TV but for the price it's a good device.

    perfect home entertainment system

Great for kids and adults alike, with its support for games, movies, and other apps. The easy-to-use remote is also convenient, compared to the gamepad-only ADT-1. Gigabit ethernet support would've been great for increased network speed and stability, but for those with 802.11ac Wi-Fi I suppose it's a non-issue.

Little pricey compared to Google but speed and setup seem to bear what best buy person shared. Setup was straight forward , loads up with wireless connectivity in place, streams good . Remote control works good trying to get on universal but haven't spent much time with it so can't comment on that part.

A great product, easy to use, and very simple to setup. However, more apps need to be developed specifically for the Nexus Player. A lot of apps on the Play Store have not yet been optimised for the Player (example: Amazon Prime Instant Video, Vimeo, etc.)

I really liked the Nexus Player but was a bit disappointed by the speed and the fact that it would lock up every once in a while. It did get better after 5.1 update but I returned it. I wanted something with more power and more options. However, the Nexus Player is good starting point and reference device (which is what it's intended for) and the available apps are growing daily. The leanback launcher is very easy to use and enjoyable. Google could do a better job of organizing the TV app store but there is amount available. Also, remember that all your Google Cast capable apps will work on here also so you have a multitude of Chromecast apps at your fingertips.

Bought this when on sale and also got 20 google play store credit! Totally worth it. Update to the latest OS and you can also use this as a chromecast. The only con is that the remote control lacks of menu button which is not quite convenient in some apps.

I'm a big fan of google products and the android operating system, so I might be a little biased here, but this piece of hardware works as intended and it even has wireless 802.11ac, which if you have the appropriate router will work really well when not hard wired to your network!! My only gripe is that for some apps I use, having a menu button on the remote is really useful but this remote does not have a menu button, very minimal remote, doesn't even have volume control...but you can give it some voice commands, if that's your thing, I rarely use it!! Overall it works great just look for a replacement remote that has more functionality.
