Z4 pro e-bike with Speed, fun and thrill

The GoTrax Z4 Pro electric bike lives up to its name, delivering a truly 'pro' biking experience. However, the shipping experience was disappointing, with a significant delay of over a month before I could finally receive and try out the bike. The bike arrived partially assembled, requiring me to put together the front wheel, seat, handlebar, light, and front fender. Instruction was okay and the assembly was not difficult. Battery needed to activate using the key and charge it before it can be used. I took out the removable battery and put it on charge while I assemble the bike. Assembly took around 30 minutes, and the large display was user-friendly. Riding on its fat tires was smooth. Its foldable design enables convenient storage and transportation.
GoTrax claims the 500-watt motor on 48Amp battery can reach 50 miles, which is great in my opinion for fun activity on and off road. This bike has a lot of power and be careful while riding because it can zap of in a second. It has pretty high acceleration. It instantly flies, zero to 20 mile in a few seconds is impressive. My advice is start with 0 gear on battery and then slowly increase. It can climb well, high steps without compromising speed. Feels very speedy on the hills. The motor start to kick in assistive mode as soon you paddle, and reach full speed, then cut off the power if you stop paddling. It can also be driven with throttle mode, but the range will be decreased. I have tried but not till the battery depleted. So far, I far in the past 3 days since I have received it I rode it for 30 miles in assistive mode and battery is still there.
One thing I noticed; the breaking distance is bad. Its break is not efficient enough to stop this soon enough if it is running more than 10-15 mph. Both the front and rear brake rattles. Another downside is the placement of the ignition/batter key, is under the bike frame. That I find it inconvenient. I get it that this design prevents it from getting water and dust in it. However, another place could have been near the handlebar. The charging port (hole) on the bike frame is kind too close to the joint and that prevent it effectively closing the cover. I am not sure if this is only in the bike that I received or in all of those. But the cover is not properly closing in my bike.
Its foldable design adds versatility, despite its weight the Z4 Pro features a useful rear rack. it’s simple assembly and folding capabilities make it an excellent choice for versatile transportation. It is easy to fold and put in the car trunk.
However, for the price $1000, I expect it to have a GPS tracker built in, an internal lockable mechanism that can prevent the motor/rear wheel to run, a rear brake light. A phone mount should have been great as shown in the picture.
If GoTrax were to integrate regenerative braking into the bike, it could elevate its appeal further. These insights reflect my personal opinions, but considering the price and the 'Pro' designation, some level of security and pro features should have been included.
In summary, the Z4 Pro is an exceptional bike offering a blend of impressive features, fun, and exhilarating rides. My experience with it has been thoroughly enjoyable, and I intend to make it a part of my daily work commute.
Pros:
1. Easy assembly,
2. Easy to fold and store.
3. Removable battery
4. 50-mile range on one charge
5. Off road fat tire
Cons:
1. Lack of security feature (GPS tracker, internal lock or anything like that).
2. Brakes rattle at speed more than 10mph,
3. A rear brake light could have been a great addition.
4. Placement of battery on/off key switch.

My first eBike and I love it!

This is my very first e-bike. I had always wanted one but wasn’t ever sure enough to take the plunge. How I wish I had done many months ago as this thing is great fun.
So obviously the box this comes in is big and pretty heavy. The bike does require some assembly like attaching the front wheel, attaching the handle bars and seat and screwing the pedals on. Putting this together is pretty simple and didn’t take much effort though I would recommend having someone with you to move the bike around when installing the parts to make the bike complete.
The item ships with the battery disabled but all you do for this is insert the key which is done by interesting near the folding mechanism under the frame and turn it anti clockwise. This will engage the battery.
Once you get this out on the road I would suggest putting it on 2 or 3 at first, I put it on full speed not expecting it to take off like it did, once you start peddling the motor kicks on and takes you to 20mph really quickly. I was shocked how fast this goes. It’s great fun.
Range has been great and charging is easy with the included adapter. This is such a fun item and makes riding a bike so much fun. I have rheumatoid arthritis and couldn’t ride a bike but this makes it so I can now ride a bike and I love every minute of it.

Awesome introductory eBike with great value

I'm a biking enthusiast. I have a hybrid Trek bike that I've been using for the last 4 years or so. Our family (me + wife + 8 year old + 3 year old) love to ride all around town and beyond when we travel. It's been awesome. Recently, just my wife and I took a trip to Cascade Locks, Oregon with our bikes. We planned to ride 26 miles (round trip) from Cascade Locks to Multnomah Falls. We have rode around that distance before, but as we got around 5 miles into this trip, my leg cramped up on me pretty badly and we decided to turn around. The trip went from a 26 mile ride to a 10 mile one. I was bummed. During the ride, I noticed so many people riding electric bikes. I've always been a critic of them due to me ignorantly thinking they were for riders who didn't want to work as hard. Well, seeing these men and women cruise up and down this trail with smiles on their faces while I struggled was enticing. I told my wife right then and there, "we should get ebikes." She laughed. But I was serious.
Fast forward a few months and I was able to order this one. I've seen other ebikes at the bike shop I go to. Those range from 3K to 6K. Now, this GoTrax foldable ebike is not near that price ($1000 currently), so I wondered what made this one different than those 3K+ bikes. However, I didn't know what to expect because I had never been around them enough. When I unpacked this bike, I knew right away it was going to be a fun toy for me. It was very easy to set up, though, I chose to use the companies YouTube video explaining how to set it up rather than the paper instructions that came in the box. It was very easy to follow. It took me about 15 minutes to carefully put it together.
When you're setting it up, you may notice that some of the handlebar connections are straight. It will look funny at first because you'll expect everything to be straight, rather than be turned at an angle. It gives the optical illusion that the front tire and the handle bars are crooked. But don't worry. That's normal. It's at an angle because this thing can completely fold for easy storage or travel. That's what separates this thing from a lot of other ebikes. The whole bike is around 76 lbs, so it's definitely not lightweight.
I've taken it for a few rides and have put around 6 miles on it. The rides are fun, but don't expect to be as comfortable on this as you would on your road/hybrid bike. The seat can be softer and more comfortable, especially. I'm 6' 3" 225, so I'm not exactly short or small, so maybe that has something to do with it. My Trek bike is an XL, and this thing looks more like a M size (though it's one size fits all). You can adjust the handle bars and the seat very easily too, so you can trial and error the correct fit for you.
The tires are "fat tires," so it will feel a bit sluggish compared to a road bike. However, these tires can go offroad on trails (or hard sand). That is pretty cool. I'm not sure how often I'll use this bike on a trail, but there are plenty to visit in the PNW, so I will at some point. Speaking of the tires, the back tire feels especially sluggish. It doesn't resist movement, but it does seem like it rubs a bit either on the brake disc or the fender. I installed everything correctly, but may need to adjust something because the constant "knocking" when I ride can become annoying.
I'd say if you're interested in an ebike, this is a great first step into the world of electric bikes. I will use this around town mostly, for quick trips to the store, but if anything, it makes me want to upgrade to one of those 3K+ ebikes I see at my shop. For 1K though, this is a great addition to the garage. And it's quality is nice too. Sure, there are many things they could have included on it to make it more premium, but this is a solid entry ebike for those who don't want to or don't need to splurge a few months mortgages for a premium one.

We bought this for our special needs teen and he loves it. I modified some big wheels training wheels to work with it. I just need to get bigger wheels for the training wheels to be 100%. This bike has no problem getting around with my 280 lb self on it.
Pros: Fast, option for assisted pedaling, great brakes. Not too heavy. Build quality seems to be top notch.
Cons: too fast for our needs and going to look for a way to slow it down, a little heavy but too be expected.

Now I get the E-bike hype

I now understand the electric bike hype now. I rode this bike over 14 miles in one outing without even breaking a sweat using Level 1 assist, which cruises around at 11-12 mph as long as you're peddling. From what I can tell, everything seems great quality, but I have noticed lots of creaks and rattling. At first I though it was the fenders because of the sound, but upon further inspection, it appears to be coming from the both brake assemblies. From what I can tell, the brake pads are very loose inside the calipers. It's the worst around 10-11 MPH. I also had to straighten out the handlebars out of the box. They were slightly off, and my OCD kicked in. The Front shocks aren't the best, but I'm 6'2", 220 lbs. So maybe they're not designed for someone my size. I was able to make them better by maxing out the pre-load on the forks. This made a noticeable improvement. I appreciate the wider seat the Z4 Pro comes with, but is still uncomfortable after about 5 miles. I will be swapping this out with a memory foam/gel seat that I have on an older bike. I love that the Z4 Pro folds up. It makes storing and transporting it easier. I bet it could easily fit into the trunk of a car when folded. The bike was packed very well. Lots of foam padding to protect the paint during shipment. Instructions were easy to read and understand. The bike comes mostly assembled, so after a few minutes, you'll be up and running, granted the battery has some sort of a charge. The Z4 Pro also comes with tool kit for assembly, so no worries there. It also has a backlit LCD screen and a front light for traveling at night, but there is no rear brake light.
Likes:
1.) Easy assembly
2.) Being able to bike effortlessly just about anywhere
3.) Folds up for storage or transportation
4.) 50 mile range on one charge
Dislikes:
1.) Brakes rattle when going over 10 MPH, front and back
2.) No rear brake light

A Great Option for the Rural Commuter!

I am beyond happy with the GoTrax Z4 Pro Foldable Ebike, and I must say that my overall experience has been exceptionally positive. This eBike comes with a slew of fantastic features that make it a great choice for urban and rural commutes alike.
Let's start with the pros:
Impressive Speed: The GoTrax Z4 Pro offers an immediate speed boost of up to 20 MPH even without assistance, making it an incredibly fun ride!
Versatile Assist Modes: With its 5 assist settings and an accelerator switch, you can tailor your riding experience to your exact preferences, whether you want to cruise effortlessly or get a bit more exercise and just get a boost in difficult situations.
Compact Foldability: The bike folds up to a reasonably small size, which is perfect for storage and transportation. I was able to fit it in the back of my Tesla Model Y and still fold the backseats up.
Safety Features: The integrated headlight and large display enhance safety during nighttime rides, ensuring you're visible to others on the road.
Cargo Rack: The large cargo rack adds a lot to the practicality of the bik, allowing you to carry groceries, a backpack, or other essentials with ease.
All-Terrain Tires: The all-terrain tires are a blessing for rural commutes, offering stability and grip on various surfaces, be it paved roads or dirt paths. The path from my house to the river trail is a mix of road types from paved to very loose dirt. It handled all these with so much ease that I thought I should try to ride it on the beach. And I fell lol. So I caution you to ride it in deep sand.
Great Range: I managed to get a little over 20 miles on a single charge, even with my weight of 230 lbs. This range definitely should suffice for most daily commuting needs.
Build Quality: The overall build quality feels mostly excellent, giving you confidence in the bike's durability. The inclusion of Shimano gears and a comfy suspension system adds to its appeal.
Easy Assembly: Assembly is a breeze, taking me less than an hour to get it fully assembled and charging.
Now, let's touch on the cons:
Unmet Range Expectations: The bike falls short of the quoted 50-mile range, which may be disappointing for some. However, 20 miles should suffice for most users' daily commutes. As a Tesla owner, I am used to the real world range falling significantly short of the quoted range.
Height Limitations: It's worth noting that riders on the shorter side, like my wife at 5'2", might find it challenging to ride the bike, even at its lowest settings. It definitely feels catered to taller riders.
Charging Port Placement: The placement of the charging port straddling the weld line can be a bit inconvenient, making it a hassle to put the cover on securely.
Weight: While it's easier to move when folded, the bike still weighs a hefty 66 lbs, which might not be ideal if you frequently need to carry it up stairs or load it into a vehicle.
In summary, the GoTrax Z4 Pro Foldable Ebike is an impressive electric bike with a wealth of positives. It's fantastic speed, versatile assist modes, foldability, safety features, cargo capacity, and solid range make it a great choice for daily commuting and recreational rides. While it may not meet all expectations, particularly in terms of range and suitability for shorter riders, it still offers an overall excellent riding experience.

Better then i thought it would be. Very comfortable to ride. Goes faster then I thought. Smooth ride. Need to be a little careful when making turns. I bought it to take when we go camping but i have not had the opportunity to go camping. The folding option should be a plus but we shall see.

bought 2 of these bikes. They are great bikes, the folding is easy and makes traveling easier. Throttle only goes up to 20 mph, you have to change a setting to get it where pedaling will assist you up to 28 mph. If you dont change the setting it will limit pedaling to 20mph as well.

This bike is an absolute blast to ride. Unfortunately, I'm having issues with the battery. I'm only getting 7 miles charge range. I've contacted Gotrax Support multiple times over the last 3 weeks and still have not heard a response. The peddle assist is nice, but dramatically slows down at 19 mph. It says max speed 28, but its very difficult to get past 21. The bike also creaks and squeaks a lot. I've put oil on the shocks and joints which has helped, but its definitely not quite. Overall a decent bike and maybe I just got a bad one, just be cautious if you have any issues, you're kinda on your own for support.

I bought this bike for my son. Easy to put together and the functions of the bike were easy to figure out. The only negative thing to say about this bike is the tires are not built for any type of off roading. My son popped his tire running through a field by his school and the bike shop that fixed it just pulled out grass. He also popped it riding off a curb.
