I was expecting "Castaway in space" but was pleasantly surprised. This is a well though out, well scripted, fantastically directed and acted, drop dead gorgeous movie. Clooney and Bullock deliver stellar performances. It will keep you on the edge of your seat through the whole movie. Most of the space stuff is well done and true to life....the only thing that was totally not gonna happen was attempting to reach the ISS from Hubble's orbit...in real life even the Shuttle with an entire load of fuel in the external tank could not make that rendezvous. However granting a little poetic license to make the story work, does not detract from the movie. Finally to quote George Clooney 's Character Matt Stone "You can't beat the view".

State of the art film making is the really the backbone of this movie. Watching this in 3D on my 65" TV really made me feel like I was floating around in space with the characters in the movie. By the way, Clooney and Bullock are the only two actors in this movie and Clooney is only around for about 1/3 of the movie..Both actors do a fine job with theirs characters. It is a story of survival in the face of repeated setbacks. Nothing new about that. Nonetheless , the movie is entertaining and view-worthy. It is IMO one of the best movies to show off a 3D TV./ home theater. If it wasn't for the spectacular visuals, it would be only a slightly above average movie as the basic premise(survival) has been done many times before..

I first watched this movie on 2d DVD . Although I liked it,I quickly realized this movie was meant to be viewed in 3D. Actually 3d is the best thing about this movie. If ur a Sandra Bullock fan, like my wife, you wil get your Sandra fix here for sure. I give this movie a four * mainly because of the cinematography, the outer space scenes are realistic and convincing although the story does become predictable and sometimes even seems strained to come off as believeable. I like Clooney and wanted more of his character in the movie. Come to think of it , I think this movie left us wanting more of something, but I'm not really sure what ? Anyway, If your a 3D movie lover, and I am, you need this movie for your collection.

The best film of last year hits Blu-ray, and it's near perfect. The film's about two astronauts played by Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, who must find a way back to Earth after a catastrophic event. Both are just exceptional in their respective roles. In particular Bullock. Cuaron's directing is superb, making the audience feel as if they're in space. If you aren't sold on the film based on that alone, don't bother watching. There's no way you'll like it The film looks and sounds spectacular. Sporting a DTS MA 5.1 track., it sounds like space should. Or so I'm told. Every bump or debris hit is felt. The extras aren't all THAT extensive. There's some cool making of stuff, like all the destruction sequences. But what's arguably the best feature is this 22 minute documentary about how mankind is already polluting space, and how we plan on cleaning it up. That about wraps it up.

Almost nothing that happens in this movie, would happen in reality as depicted on screen. The movie attempts to seem ultra realistic and anchor the viewer into the "This could actually happen." realm for the suspense, which is unfortunate because of some of the stupid elements of the movie. YouTube "Everything wrong with Gravity" for a comical attack on these elements of the movie. That being said, if you can take your mind off the "realism" issue and just enjoy it for what it is, a beautiful suspenseful movie, it's fantastic. If you have a 70" TV and lots of expensive Dolby Digital 7.2 Surround Sound speakers, you will be glued to the screen for the duration of the movie regardless of how bad you might have to urinate. I've seen this twice in IMAX and watching the BluRay later was still entertaining. It's more fun to watch with someone that hasn't seen it yet, as usual.

This movie fell short of my expectations even though I am a huge fan of Sandra Bullock. I feel they could have made many of the scenes more realistic instead of just one problem after another. Killing off Clooney I feel was the biggest snafu of the movie

While the story line seems to drag and feels like the movie is much longer than the 90 Min time frame, I can easily understand why. **Spoiler Alert** - This movie is about a woman who not only gets detached from the rest of her crew, but she is its sole survivor... I believe the director/writers are intentionally trying to get us to sympathize with her frustration and the seemingly eternal loneliness one goes through in such a crisis. **End Spoiler** In spite the lengthy feel, the 3D effects are amazing, and even in 2D one can easily see where the movie was tailor-made for 3D. I originally thought the movie was shot with wire-hanging, but once I saw the special features realized it was CGI. It fooled me... in a good way. Sandra Bullock's performance was good, at best. Clooney was forgetable. But otherwise, if you have a 3D TV, I would definitely say that this movie is a Must-Own.

    Really Good Movie

This really is a very good movie. If they bring it back to the big screen in 3D you really need to see it there. You WILL feel like you are in outer space. But even on a 3D 55" TV, it still is great to watch. Two drawbacks that kept it at a 4 instead of a 5 rating for me. One is character development -- there virtually is none. That brings the movie down to just basically a disaster movie -- but a really good one. If it hadn't been for Sandra Bullock, I probably wouldn't care what her fate would be. The other drawback is the ending -- it's too sudden. I needed a little more closure, for lack of a better term. I seldom watch the extras as I don't really want to know how they made the special effects they made, but this time I did want to know, because they are incredible. And the process is really fascinating. Even seeing the process, it is amazing to me how real it all looks.

The movie Gravity has a PG-13 rating. It's a two disc DVD special edition. The movie is 91 minutes long and 91 minutes of attention grabbing entertainment. Included in the purchase is a digital ultraviolet version that can be downloaded for use on most TVs, computers, tablets and smartphones. It does not contain iTunes files. The second disc has 3 hours of special features that shows the making of the movie which took 4 years of filmmaking. All that for a great price at BestBuy. Any movie with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney is well worth watching!

This movie is much more than a film - it's an experience that is both physical and emotional - unlike anything I have ever seen before. It is best watched with the house lights turned down very low or completely off so that all you see is the screen of your TV. It will give you a sense of how beautiful and possibly dangerous it can be to live and work in space. The physical part will come when you find yourself hanging on to your seat for dear life and the emotional part - well - you'll experience that too. This Blu-Ray also has almost 3 hours of special features: 107 minutes of in-depth behind-the-scenes, 37 minutes of shot breakdowns, a 10 minute short called "Aningaag", and a 22 minute documentary on the very real and present dangers that plague the space around our planet. All of these special features are worth a look.

Gravity has to be one of the best films I have seen in a really long time. This is very much a story about the strength of the human spirit and man's will to survive against the most extreme of circumstances. Because of this man vs. nature and man vs. self narrative-- some people might find the movie boring or tedious. My dad, for instance, kept asking me what the point of the movie was and when we'd meet another character. He didn't like that there wasn't a "bad guy". That the entire movie is basically just Sandra Bulloce trying to survive a series of events and make it home. He didn't get it. And he isn't alone, I know a number if people who feel the same way but personally, I think this movie is brilliant. Every shot of the film is gorgeous and I can't think of a single thing about it I would change if I could.

Gravity stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as two astronauts stranded in space after an accident damages their shuttle and knocks out their communication with NASA. The plot of this film is simple and the action is quick. Bullock and director Alfonso Cuaron do a fantastic job in making you feel like you are there in space and apart of the action. I bought the 3D blu-ray and it made me feel as though I was an astronaut along for the ride. This film like Avatar was made for 3D. I am usually not a fan of 3D but this film is an exception. If you purchased the 3D you will not be disappointed. The picture is crystal clear and the sound is magnificent. Both are easily five out of five rating. If you enjoyed high drama and intense thrilling action, this film is for you. I definitely recommend this film.

Spectacular Sci-Fi Movie embedded within reality

Great Sci-Fi film embedded in what could be a realistic situation. The extras has a documentary on the Great Space clean-up effort and knowing some of the facts displayed, one has to appreciate NASA and Space Agencies efforts around the world in keeping our beloved explores safe! Back to the film, while some of the physical aspects of the film are a little over the top, it was an entertaining thrill ride that lovers of Space Adventure will truly appreciate. Sandra Bullock's acting was a little annoying after awhile but I was still captivated by her plight in the film. Recommend to anyone who loves Sci-Fi-ish Space Adventures.

Saw this movie in theaters andI was completely blown away. Could not wait for it to come out on DVD in 3D. DVD bonus features said it took 4 years to complete the film and I do not doubt it, but it was well worth the wait. The film is beautifully done. The audience really feels like they are all alone out in space so far from civilization. The earth is a constant reminder to them in what becomes their quest to get home. Bullock and Clooney are incredible in their roles. Matt (Clooney) is a free spirit who lives for today. Ryan (Bullock) has always played by the rules, has had some unfortunate events happen to her, and always calculates her actions before completing them. You feel for Ryan during this incredible story which is one of losing hope, regaining it, and ultimately rebirth.

MOVIE: Alfonso Cuaron has put together this story with perfect narrative structure and pacing. It's artful without being pretentious: full of symbolism, but it keeps the plot moving without reveling in it. The acting is convincing, and the effects are top-notch. VIDEO: Everything that could be expected of a recently released digitally-shot movie. Detailed, convincing depth and contrast, exactly as the filmmakers intended--any blooming is part of the movie and not a flaw in the transfer. AUDIO: The movie has incredible sound design, and this Blu-ray preserves it perfectly. Surround activity is convincing and plentiful, bass is clean and hefty, fidelity is perfect. EXTRAS: While not necessarily lengthy, the included extras are extremely informative and heavily recommended.

This movie shows what the proper use of 3D can do to create a stunning visual experience. Masterfully crafted and directed, it is worth it just for showing off a good screen. Sandra Bullock does an admirable job with a very constrained role, looking the part, but lacking a script that helps her shoulder the load of carrying most of the show. Fortunately, the visual effects and photography make those other weaknesses almost unnoticeable. Clooney is walking in a park with his role, perfectly cast as the space jock. The storyline would have benefitted from expanding his part and giving him some additional dramatic opportunities. For film-lovers, this is the current movie to own to show 3D naysayers that the best is yet to come, and can be spectacular in the right hands. Highly recommended!

The visuals will blow you away. Sandra Bullock does a good job of portraying a space station specialist sent adrift into the black void when tragedy strikes her craft. George Clooney makes a good foil as her smarmy but likable colleague. The script allows for character development and these two professionals make the gymnastics required of "floating in space" look easy. I'm sure it wasn't. I first saw this in 3D in the theater and couldn't move the entire film. The DVD possesses none of the immersive quality of the theater, but the script and acting carry the day. Worthwhile.

This film is a disaster, but in the best sense of the word. Once the worst thing that can happen in space happens, it literally grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go until the very end. The movie is also visually stunning and even more so in 3D. The only thing that is a little odd to me is that they decided to code the sound in 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio instead of 7.1 Dolby Atmos but this is a small gripe. It still sounds amazing nonetheless. I highly recommend this film and can honestly say it's one of those films that will stick with you well after you've watched it.
