The popper is designed with a small gap between the glass and frame that traps popcorn scraps and hulls around the bottom of the glass on 3 sides. After using it only once there was the start of popcorn scraps building up in that gap. It was noticeable after one use and would get really bad quickly. At best, this would be unsightly. At worst, the trapped scraps would harbor something unhealthy in the popper. Norther responded that all of their poppers were designed that way. I returned the popper.

Perfect size not too big or too small. I love it and it is so easy to use and easy to clean. Love the fresh popped popcorn. Best purchase ever made. Did not come with a Stand but will be buying a rolling cart for it.

I have researched Popcorn machines for awhile now and decided to get Great Northern machine based on a lot of reviews, I use this machine for home use but use it everyday as I love popcorn. it is true there are a lot of unpopped kernels but it is that way with most popcorn machines (because the kernels get caught in the popped kernals and rise out with them) There is a small gap with the metal tilt down access drawer but it isnt an issue with me and I clean the machine after so many uses anyway (like you are suppose to). Great machine for the price, I have seen way more expensive machines that were not built as good as this one. It is a huge plus that the kettle can be unplugged to pull out for easy cleaning instead of built in like most. Also keep in mind what really makes the best popcorn is the ingredients you use, I started with Great Northern pre packaged but it can get expensive, I know use popcorn, cocopop flavored oil and flavocal, and its the best popcorn I have ever had.

After reading all the reviews from multiple different websites, I decided to go with this popper and am glad I did. For the price you get a decent machine that makes great popcorn. You do get a decent amount of old maids (un-popped kernels) but I don't think I have the exact ratio down yet. There are some sharp edges due to the manufacturing but for the price I really can't complain.

Works good but will need some perfecting with the oil, butter, etc. I had to put a light decorative magnet on each lid of the stainless kettle for some added weight. The reason for this is without the added weight, the lids fly up when popcorn is popping and the unpopped kernels will fly out which creates a lot of waste. The magnets help keep the lids down enough to mostly let out just the popped corn. There will be a little waste, but that is the nature of the beast. We used about 2 tbsp of oil and 3 tbsp of butter and seems to come out crispy and buttery tasting. The kettle needs to be heated a couple minutes first, then add oil. Let oil heat a few minutes, then add butter, then add 1 cup of corn and turn on stirrer. Once popping slows a lot, turn off kettle heater. Once it completely stops popping, turn off stirrer. Experiment with oil, butter for personal taste.

Have not major complaints, makes great popcorn quickly. Only note is the unpopped kernel tray came slightly bent & doesn't fit all the way into the base, but still seems to catch all the loose kernels. Made good use of it during our church's annual sports camp!

Perfect for our family of four and our small gatherings. Great taste. Easy to use.

I just recently purchased this Great Northern 8 oz. Popcorn popper and I'm very happy with it. I opted for the 8oz over the 6 and 4oz popper so I can pop as much or as little I want. It also looks great in my movie room as it has a nostalgic look to it. The popcorn tastes just like popcorn at the theatre. Hope this helps.

This popcorn machine is just like the ones in the movie theater. I suggest to buy the popcorn packet from homedepot since there are the cheapest.

I chose this machine after trying a smaller one. The main things I like about this one are that the walls are glass, which makes them easier to clean, and the popping bowl is easier to remove for cleaning and is bigger. Overall the popcorn quality is fine. I've only use prepackaged popcorn packs so far but will do as others have recommended and use regular popcorn after to save on cost.
