Customers recognize the Gryphon AX Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi Router's excellent parental controls and fast Wi-Fi speeds, with many also praising its ease of setup and strong security features. A Solid Mesh Router

I was looking around for different mesh systems and this popped up on my radar and decided to give it a try. This is packaged very minimally. You do get a quick start guide and you are asked to download the app to assist you in setting up this system. This is where I got kind of stuck. I currently have a mesh and I was using this as a backup. So when setting it up, The ports to use are confusing and I could not tell which plug to use for internet. Yes there are two to choose from, but I wanted to get it right the first time, which did not happen. However, once it is set up the process was pretty quick once connected correctly. The mesh is in place. The other negative is that you have to notate your mac addresses to identify your devices so you can name them. Time consuming but worth it to identify your connected devices. The speed is pretty fast and connection of the mesh system to my entire one story house is pretty good. With one point, it states that this is good for 3000 square feet. My home is about 1300 square feet and from my bedroom which is at the back of the house, the wifi signal to the front of the house is about a 4 out of 5 bar connection.
The star of the show is not just the solid mesh, but the bells and whistles of the security features. You get a trial run of the security features which is nice to see if you would use it. I can totally see parents of smaller children who are on the devices most of the day to ensure more mature content are filtered correctly and also hackers are put at bay in a sense. The negative on this trial is that you have to put your credit card info on file to activate the features. But if you can see yourself using the features, then this wouldn't be a bad choice to use. But if you do not feel like you will ever use these features, I would suggest getting another system all together in my opinion. Would I recommend this? Yes for the security options it provides, but the price is where I would hesitate. It is a bit pricey and it is just one point. Other than that, this is a solid choice for a mesh system. Only if you intend to use the said features which you can pay per month or annually.

A great next-gen router

The Gryphon AX mesh router is a fantastic router for future proofing your home. The set up was super simple - not different than any other router if you've installed one previously. Box comes with the router itself, power cable, and a pretty lengthy ethernet cable. I am actually unfamiliar with the Gryphon brand but after testing out this product, I think i've become a fan.
This router comes with the new next gen Wi-fi 6 (802.11ax) and comes with the useful feature of combing your 5ghz and 2.4ghz networks into one. This is great and convenient feature to simplify the wi-fi for the non tech savvy and I've absolutely zero issues using it. It should be noted that of course, you can still set it up separately like normal. The router also has a nice and simple to use app which i love. I've used other router apps and have to say Gryphon is one of the better ones. The router had no problem handling my gigabit connection and I could easily stream all my shows in 4k.
TL;DR: The Gryphon AX Tri-band Router is a great and solid entry into the upcoming wi-fi 6 space. Would definitely recommend this rotuer to future-proof your home or even as just an overall great router

Love this system. It has great parental control features which you have to pay for with the Orbi. The interface is very easy to use and you can easily categorize devices. Its easy to setup guest network too. Compared to the ATT fiber combo which was giving me about 100 mbps on wifi this improved it to 300 mbps.

A Great Router, Interesting Concept

The Gryphone AX tri-band mesh wi-fi router is, first and foremost, a great router. I get great speeds and great coverage throughput my house, and even in the backyard, which is wonderful. I love to sit on a hammock and read the news and everything during the spring/summer. The coverage is amazing, and the speeds are great. All I care about is a consistent 100 MBS anywhere I go, and the Gryphon definitely delivers. This means I can watch or read anything I want with cnvenience.
Additionally, for those who need it, the Gryphon system allows for plenty of parental monitoring. This can be incredibly difficult, especially with a lot of kids, being able to keep tabs on them can be invaluable. The app and everything are easy to setup and connect, and from there, you can just rely on notifications,
The setup of the Gryphon is easy, but the functionality it provides is way beyond that of your standard router, and can be very valuable if you are a parent. The peace of mind this can offer is great, and again, especially valuable for large families.

De Facto King of Family Routers

This is the ultimate router for families. The level of control over what your kids can & can’t do is amazing AND it’s easy to use! Gryphon is constantly adding new features - I’m super excited about their new YouTube video logging feature, soon we will be able to see all the videos the kids watch! I try to limit my kids to using YouTube Kids only, but even that sometimes has stuff I’d prefer they don’t watch.
Another awesome point about Gryphon is that it’s a US company based out of San Diego. The support team is AWESOME, super responsive, and has always been able to solve any issue I had (and they were always self-inflicted issues… lol)
Oh - on top of fantastic family controls, the signal strength, uptime, stability, and security of these devices is on par with the best in the business. You really can’t go wrong with Gryphon, even if you don’t have young kids.

I'm not sure how I feel about the Gryphon AX Tri-Band Mesh Router. 1st of all, getting it set up and working was odd... I used the instructions, and followed the guide on the app exactly 1 step at a time, and the router failed to set up correctly. I hit the link/button to retry set up, but then it wouldn't let me because my router had already been set up... So it DID get set up the first time, but it just didn't know it did?? I also wasn't really happy with how much of my personal information I had to share with the router and with the App... I just want a router, that transmits wifi. I understand that using an app to change settings on the router is handy, but why does it need so much of my personal information to do that? My old router didn't need to know anything about me, it just plugged in and turned on. Then the emails started coming in. In 3 days Gryphon emailed me 7 times before I blocked them as spam and clicked all the unsubscribe buttons. I could have sworn I had turned on the don't bother me switch when I was doing the set up, but they kept emailing me anyways. As it turns out apparently Gryphon is a tech start up, and they need funding. And because I'm an early adapter, I qualify to buy into their stock purchase option blah blah blah... Then the day after I hooked up the Router someone used my email to set up a Kohls account. I've never had any issues like that before so that's pretty suspitious. Not 100% sure that's Gryphons fault, but just weird. So I go into my email settings and change my password just to be on the safe side, and my email send me a push notification to verify that it's me. Well the notification doesn't come through on my phone. I see it pop up, but when I try to read it it gets blocked by the Gryphon router for some reason. I tried like 5 times, then finally I changed the wifi setting on my phone to my old router and the notification came right through. I reset the password to my email, and then spent about half an hour changing my phone settings back and forth multiple times, and then having my email send me a security notification, and every time I was on the Gryphon router it would fail to deliver it. One thing I can say positive about the Gryphon router is that it does have powerful WIFI signal. It's twice as fast, and has twice the distance as my old router. The only problem is I don't trust it enough to use it for anything important. So no lap top or phone use on that wifi network, just my smart TV's and streaming music etc...

I was pleased with the ease in setting up this device. A bit irritated that I had to download yet another app in order to install but I suppose I’ll tolerate it for now. The initial setup was very simple and we were up and running in about a half hour. We have numerous devices in our home but got them all connected quickly and easily as well. We’ve had no issues with simple things such as our smart deadbolt/doorbell and cameras; they connected right away and continue to operate the same way they always did. However, that’s also the same for our other devices, which was disappointing. My house is full of gamers and neither my husband nor sons have noticed any difference in their game play. There’s always been complaints about lagging, skipping, dragging, etc. I’ve always believed it’s due to our service provider but we decided to try a new mesh router system. My youngest son who is furthest from the router says that he’s noticed quicker connection and finds it much easier to join into online matches. He doesn’t notice the lagging as often as he did before but it’s still often enough that it affects the outcome of some of his matches, and there’s still times where he’ll get disconnected and kicked out of rounds because of poor connection quality. My husband’s gaming setup is right next to our modem and router and he hasn’t noticed any difference. However, one thing that I have seen a difference in is the streaming quality when we are watching TV shoes or movies. We very rarely see interruptions and the picture quality always stays consistent and clear. This was something that we struggled with a lot when we had our previous router so this has been a nice, and welcomed, change. Although I wasn’t happy about having to download yet another app there are parental controls available in there that allow me to restrict internet access for my children which has been helpful when my son does something to have his gaming privileges suspended, or when he stays up late and is keeping me awake - being able to use the app to shut down the connection is convenient and super easy. I would definitely recommend giving this router a shot - we’ve noticed enough positive aspects that we all prefer over our old router and we’ll keep using it moving forward.

We have had this router for over a year now and have not had any issues with it. It is way more reliable than the Airport Extreme that we had before. I love how much control I have over users and their access. I can control how much time each user has, what sites they can access, which sites they have accessed, and set ratings levels for each user based on their age group. I can also block specific domains easily. The setup and administration is super easy and is done on an app. It cannot be accessed from a computer so users cannot break into the unit. It's the best thing I've found to protect my family from the nasty things on the internet.

Excellent Product for Today's Households

The Gryphon - AX Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi Router is just what's needed for today's connected households.
I remember when WiFi routers were just a simple signal transmitter. Next they added some extremely basic filtering capabilities - if you could learn how to access the router via a webpage using an I.P. adresss. Then came more sophisticated versions with signal management features that included processors and dual frequencies. More recently, we've seen the continuing development of sophisticated signal processing integrated with smart apps that provide features that are truly useful and practical for today's households.
The Gryphon - AX Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi Router is an excellent example of a modern, state-of-the-art router. If you've never set up a smart router and used an app with it, you may find it an unfamiliar process. However, you'll find the set-up for this unit is simple and easy. Hook everything up, download the app, and follow the instructions.
The primary feature for a Wifi router is to send out a strong signal to a large area. This does that very well. Covered our whole household and the signal was strong and fast.
The secondary features are those found via the smart app. These features are where routers like the Gryphon - AX Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi Router really stand out. The level of control is amazing. You can set up different programs for different sets of devices that are connected. This includes those, such as smart TVs or streaming devices, that need priority access to the signal. It also allows you to determine what hours each device can access the internet, or not. You can also set up different levels of content filtering for specific sets of devices. This is essential for families today. It allows you to put boundaries and safeguards on any device your kids use. Most features are available for free. However, with an optional subscription, you can expand your level of control.
All-in-all, the Gryphon - AX Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi Router is an excellent, and essential, product for today's connected households.

The Gryphon router has been a game-changer in our family. The router has given us the necessary control to keep our family safe from malware and explicit online content that daily tries to reach our children. The parent-first router has every conceivable tool a parent would need to manage screen time, access to apps, individual user needs, and guests visiting our home. Every family should have this router in their home.

I'm a big fan of mesh systems - the house I have while not super large has some inherent signal problems. I have one room that is apparently a Faraday shield – 1/10 th of the normal wifi speed with all of the other routers I have used. With this router while not perfect I only had about a 50% drop. I also did a side-by-side strength test against my normal wifi mesh system (large highly recognized brand name) and the Gryphon beat it hands down. I honestly would consider replacing my current system if it wasn’t for a few drawbacks as follows:
1. Cost for the satellites – I have the one router system and the cost to add additional ones is pretty pricing – however, that being said I think you could cover the same area that I do know (one base and 2 satellites) with just 2 Gryphons
2. No web interface – the only interface is via a mobile device and while it works well at least the apple app can be a little clunky. I had some issues with making changes during the setup due to app sizing on my phone
Those are really the only drawbacks I can find – overall this is a great system and if you are in the market to replace your current system and have a few extra $ to spend, I would highly recommend investing in Gryphons

I've had routers from Netgear and Asus and this router beats those hands down. It has _never_ gone down, it has never had problems updating firmware, its signal is super strong, and frankly it's what a router should be. I appreciate the various parental controls too even though I don't use them. I did look through them during setup and they seem quite robust.

The Gryphon router is an excellent alternative to other name brand routers on the market. The set up was simple and only required a smart device with data connection, preferably a smart phone with cell phone service.
it wa a hassle free to set up and plug in, even someone who has never done this before should find it to be very easy to set up.
The signal strength is amazing for my home and even reaches my garage in the back yard. So I am able to listen to music while working on car or projects. I’m impressed with how seamless this router works with all my devices and it can handle quite a bit of traffic from my home. Between streaming movie and music and plying video games all at the game time, my household never experienced any disruptions or interference with this router.
The best part is how the device automatically and seamlessly switches devices from the 2.4ghz and 5ghz based on custom priorities or the demand of each device. Wifi mesh is the future and if I ever needed to “extend my reach” I could just hook up a new satellite. So long “old school routers and extenders” I won’t miss having 4 wifi networks ending in EXT!

For what kind of router this is, I would say it is pretty good!
Speed wise, it is as advertised. Extremely fast and no buffering or stuttering when gaming or watching movies, but of course that also depends on your internet service provider. It is smaller than I thought it was so it fits just about anywhere I would want it.
The signal is pretty strong in all corners of the house. I have about 1800 sq ft of livable space and I haven't experienced any dropped signals or drop in performance no matter where I am in the home.
The app is absolutely necessary for anything you'd want to do. You need it for set up and most importantly, probably the main reason you're considering this item, to set up controls over the network and devices that are connected to it. I don't have any children myself but when I have family stay over it is nice to be able to make sure everyone is keeping the internet usage PG and non-explicit.
If you're on the market for something like this, I would def recommend. It's convenient and has a ton of features/customizations. However, if you're just looking for a regular router I would suggest to look elsewhere.

Not as fast as I was hoping

Not as fast as i was hoping. So according to what i read on the internet and reviews it made it sound like it was going to take my gigabit speed and make my wireless items run at close to that speed vs the router i have. Given i do have the ROG Rapture GT-RX 6000 router and it's very fast. But when i compared it speed wise to the Gryphon AX the Gryphon did not even come close to the speed test i did not even remotely close. Just for example my router only wirelessly tested with my ROG Rapture got wireless speed at 5 ghz consistently around 574 download and 35 upload and the Gryphon was getting 87 download and 25 upload consistently and that was doing the test 10 times per item.
When i got it out of the box and hooked it up first thing you have to do is downland software on your phone to set it up. I have set up lots and lots of wireless items or electronics in general via a software download and normally it goes pretty smooth because your getting software made for 1 item and specifically that 1 item. So installed the software and ran into a few problems rite off. It did not see the Gryphon at first and then during the setup process there is a circle shape with it spinning and it just kept spinning for about 5 minutes then it said unsuccessfully installed. I made sure i followed the instructions you have to be within 2 feet or closer to the Gryphon and i was literally setting rite next to it. After several tries i told it to stop the setup process and i started backing out and low and behold it was set up but never said it was done or set up it actually said the setup failed. All in all i cant recommend getting this for the price you pay. You can find a very good router that will give you better performance for probably less. Given i paid $450 for my ROG router this was not much less but you got much less performance and a headache to go with it.

Very user friendly app. This router finally gives parents the control over the internet that is needed in all our homes. If you have one kid misbehaving, click, internet is suspended for that kid only. Want to designate a time for homework only, it’s an easy setup, and only allows the websites you allow for homework time. You can set time limits per person, per device. It’s extremely customizable. And you can change the settings on the fly. I’ve been on a flight and turned off the internet for my kid, that needed a time out.
I highly recommend the Gryphon router to all my friends that have kids.

I bought this router because I wanted to be able to keep my kids safe online. After reading all the reviews and looking at the differnt solutions, I decided on this router. Setup was easy but does require you to play around with the app to learn all the features. It has also caught a bunch of viruses as well.
