The game changed a lot from the original. I was surprised that the buttons are now black and white instead of different colors. It's not as user friendly as the original.

This iteration of Guitar Hero feels fresh and innovative.
The Live aspect is fine, but that's hardly the selling point of this game. The new controller is incredibly smart, and offers a great challenge for series veterans. You go through the same skill building you experienced 10 years ago. This game will kick your butt at first, but you will become better and better and it's super rewarding.
GHTV is probably the coolest thing ever thrown in a music rhythm game. Think Pandora for Guitar Hero. There are always streaming music channels that you can hop in and out whenever you'd like with a live leaderboard to add to the fun. You play to the backdrop of music videos. It feels like old school MTV or Fuse. It's all about music discovery.

I haven't played Guitar Hero since my addiction to Wii ended years ago so when I saw it was coming out for ps4 I was at my local Best Buy when it opened that day. Lots of variety in music and in play options so you don't get bored. The graphics are fantastic. I was surprised to see the button layout had been changed. Instead of different colors going down the neck, this guitar controller has 6 buttons but it's 3 over 3. I will say I thought it was going to be too simple but I was wrong! It's a nice change. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is that I feel it's a little difficult to navigate your way around, but that could also be operator error!

Things are the same but different. You are still strumming out on a plastic guitar but instead of 3D models, you have a live audience. It makes you feel like you are in a music video. Additionally, the game play is even more challenging as the buttons are now laid out across two rows of three instead of one row of 5. You will have to unlearn your the techniques you've been using in order to play this new style. It definitely makes for a challenge. If you don't want to learn this new style, I would recommend not to get this but Rock Band 4 instead.

I was a diehard guitar hero/Rock Band player when they were popular. I bough this instead of Rock Band because they made some big changes (and didn't just release the same game again). The new button system brings back all the fun of learning how to play again. It felt so good to be boo'd when the last game I played I was a rock star! I also like the fact that you don't have to pay for extra songs, you can skip the micro transactions by just playing (although some people may not like this system).

If you are very custom to the original way guitar hero and rock band had the button layout than I would prefer you to get rock band(same as before) but if you want a challenge, this is the game!! Was difficult at first, but after playing a few songs it felt more realistic, plus the live freature is amazing too!!
I would highly recommend getting dual guitar and mic. so you can invite friends over party like rock band (in my opinion guitar hero has the better song play list plus of the ghtv you not stuck playing the same old songs over and over)

The game and guitar itself I give 5 stars. The graphics are awesome. The guitar, while it takes time getting used to, is more realistic. My only two complaints which is irrelevant to the overall game is the guitar I received, the one button if you don't press it at the correct spot, it doesn't register correctly when playing. I know it's defective because the other guitar is fine. That isn't worth downgrading the overall rating though.

I like the new controller, it makes it a better game. If you are used to the old one, it does take some getting used to. The new songs all the time on live is a neat feature, but the one thing missing for me, is playing any song head to head with another person in your house having said that, it's worth getting.

Two ways of playing: offline in a first person point of view with a "live" action band in front of a "live" crowd that reacts to your good and/or bad play, or playing along online to a streaming music video (no Playstation Plus account needed). Have tried both modes multiple times, both solo and co-op. Setup from one mode to another is not 100% intuitive but once you've got it down, definitely a fun ride. A refreshing spin on things, they were definitely thinking outside the box on this to make it feel a bit newer, unlike the competition which actually regressed on their latest iteration while launching on the next-gen platform, removing advances in gameplay they had made on their last entry. Although there is a lot of selection here, it's missing a lot of the bigger guitar bands of yesteryear, so it loses a star for that.

It's a great game. I've always been a guitar hero fan and now it's more challenging which I like but you really don't own any songs. Most songs here are on demand and if you wanna play you need tokens to play once if you run out you pay with real money. That's the only downside you don't get to own like previous games. If they fix that this game would get 5 stars for sure.

Best music game to date. Great balance of music types instead of just heavy metal. First person is the way it should be, and GHTV is better than I expected. Also new guitar is a change for the better, but you will need to unlearn what you have learned if you have played these types of games before.

I purchased Guitar Hero Live over Rock Band 4 because I would be playing by myself more than with others. It's awesome so far and I like how they just basically started new. I got the two guitar bundle to always have an extra when somebody else comes over. Worth the money!

The new guitar hero live is a great new edition to the gh family. Coming out of the box, you notice a new refined guitar. gone are colored buttons and now we get two rows of 3. The gameplay and graphics are awesome and online library is one for the ages.

For all those hardcore guitar hero fans, this one may be a bit challenging because you have to relearn everything you know about playing. this may be great for those of you who enjoy a challenge, and don't like To stick to the same old thing Over and over. The songs are great!! And there are so many of them to choose from in quick play and the music video mode. The actual show mode where you play sets, however, is very limited. There are only a few shows to play, but the live interactive gameplay is tremendous. Overall, it all depends on what you want to do. Stick with the traditional and don't get it, or get great songs with a challenge.

This is a very good game. The new controller is great, but it will take practice to get things going. You will need to unlearn your old guitar ways. I like the song list on the disk, but wish there were about 20 more for local play. I usually boycott games with micro transactions, but I think you will get your money's worth without it. If it turns out I am wrong I will come back and change my review. Rock on!

This is by far the best guitar game for ps4, love the way you can go online and play music videos against other players, guitar is different than the original but you get used to it
