I like the new, updated guitar controller. It feels a little more realistic. Great library of music, fun gameplay as always.

I purchased this new Guitar Hero, because I have always loved playing the old Guitar Hero games (on expert!) Well, the major downfalls of this game are... - You can't party together with a friend and play head-to-head, OR co-op - The new button scheme is awful (black 1,2,3 and white 1,2,3 - what the heck?) - It's very hard to get used to seeing only up and down guitar picks (colored black and white) and black/white squares on the screen.. - It will literally just throw you right into the next song without warning, and if you don't know the song, god help you, haha you'll miss the first 5-10 chords if you aren't paying attention! - The wireless adapter seems to lag sometimes, and you'll miss strums because of it (yes, I've calibrated both my 4k lg led tv, and my 1080p sharp led tv, to no avail) The good things... - There is a huge catalog of songs to choose from - 'Live' music videos of the song being played in the background (some/most are low-def and look pretty bad..) - You don't need to spend real money to earn new songs! You gain free-plays while you play, which is really cool Overall, I'm still up-in-the-air about this game.. Maybe after I play it more than the 4 or 5 hours that I've put into it, I'll like it some more. I could kill the old Guitar Hero and RockBand games, but this button scheme is really pretty confusing and hard to get used to. I suggest playing it somewhere else before you buy it!

GH Live is a fun game. It should be as simple as that, but unfortunately it's not. The menus are too complex— starting with it being essentially two different games: Guitar Hero Live and GHTV. Both have their own problems. Guitar Hero Live, supposedly the main attraction, is about two music festivals; one is in the US, and the other in Great Britain. You play as the lead guitarist in each of these; the display is live-action video from his/her point of view. Unfortunately ("unfortunately" for once) it's the original masters rather than covers by the bands. I get it; people complained about the covers in older games and still do when they pop up in Rock Band. But these songs are also mostly on GHTV as well. Would have helped make the experience more authentic, and given it extra variety in that the covers could have different note charts. For GHTV, where you'll really spend most of your time... it feels like a cell phone F2P game like Puzzle and Dragons or Rage of Bahamut. You can do so much without paying more; unlimited use of the channels (two different streams of music videos with note charts attached) and an limited amount of songs on-demand (not on disc). If your internet connection is poor or your ISP enforces its data cap, consider GHTV useless. Also, there's a bug that completely resets your progress (but luckily not your GH Live progress). Hopefully it's been fixed. As for the new guitar, I love it. People that don't like change would hate it. It's difficult to adapt to from the 5-button standard, but adapting is kinda the point of playing new video games. The in-game usage is a bit iffy; using Star Power and playing HOPOs look overly similar and can really screw things up until you get used to it. TL;DR: Have fun. Expect things to screw up every once in a while. And have a good internet connection.

The new guitar layout makes it more challenging but you will adapt to the 6 buttons easily. I love the new songs and the live audience in Guitar Hero Live! The only downside that I have is that you don't own the songs permanently on GHTV and you have to constantly purchase "plays" in order to play the songs that you want. I usually run out of coins for that and play Guitar Hero Live until I have enough, but besides that it was a fun game to play.

I have been in to guitar hero and rockband games since the very first game. I remember getting the first guitar hero. It was an awesome experience to first play with the controller and slowly move up to using all 5 buttons. This game is very similar experience it was so much fun to play with the new controller. It really does feel like playing with an actual guitar. (obviously it is not exactly like it but it is super close)

The new guitar and game are pretty nice. There is a great but strange group of songs on this game. The new guitar layout is refreshing but difficult especially if the song is not familiar, of which there are quite a few. Plus many pop songs are very very repetitive and simple. The fun value is limited to legit rock songs. The music videos attached to many of the online challenges are great. It's a mixed bag in the end.

There is a definite learning curve with this that was not in the original Guitar Hero games. It can be challenging to adapt to the up/down arrows. It is not simply buttons in a row, but 2 rows of buttons. The bottom row buttons can be easy to bump. Overall I have not had any technical issues with the controller. I enjoy that it feels more like playing a guitar and the challenege made developing skill more rewarding.

Overall, I really enjoy Guitar Hero Live. It's really neat how you are seeing in first person POV. Most of the songs that come with the game are a pretty decent selection. The only reason why I'm giving the game a 4 star is because sometimes it takes too long for the intro. I know it supposed to be "live", but I also wish they would give us the option to skip the intro and go straight to the song.

This game is NOT easy. It could definitely use more of a tutorial, as it seems to assume that the user has played this game before. No one at our house has ever played Guitar Hero before. That made for a bit of frustration in the first hour or so. However, the game is VERY cool and gets even better when you get the hang of it. We are all still really bad at it, but it's keeping us interested.

    A Different Guitar Hero Experience

Guitar Hero Live is a different entry from the Guitar Hero series in that the guitar no longer has 5 buttons, but six, and are stacked into two rows of three. One row is black while the other is white. On the easiest difficulty, all you need to do is strum and my kids prefer that for the time being. As the difficulty increases, you get more and more complicated pairings of the buttons. In reviews I've read, people claim this mimics real chords and how one would actually play a guitar, and that seems fairly true (at least it is closer to playing an actual guitar...). The song selection is fairly decent. In order to unlock all the songs, you must first play through a series of setlists with different bands at different venues. The gameplay puts you as a member of these bands, interacting with other band members on stage and with an audience of live (not cartoony) people. The audience reacts to your playing, cheering and singing along as you perform well and booing as you do poorly. The changes in audience approval seem rather seamless (though you do notice when those changes occur). If you get tired of the included music, you can hop over to GHTV, a sort of MTV like station of music videos that you can play along with and earn credits to 'purchase' other songs to play. You can only play the song once before you have to buy it again but this does give you a bit more liberty without having to put real money into it (as you have to do with Rock Band 4). I only give it three stars for a number of reasons: first, you can't have someone playing bass and another playing guitar. If two people play, they both play the same parts. Second, the second player can't log in to a profile and therefore can't save progress. So if the second player wants to play under their own profile later, they would have to unlock everything on their own. Third, although you can use a microphone, the singing experience is subpar at best. The support for that is insufficient. Finally, there is no drum support whatsoever! At max, you can only have 3 people play at one time. Guitar Hero Live seems to go back to its roots, focusing solely on guitar. If you enjoyed the other entries in the Guitar Hero series, you will probably enjoy this one, but maybe not as much as the others.

Great music ,guitar is different so you have to get use to that but it's a challenge which makes it more exciting and fun. it doesn't come with a mic so that's a negative but it did come free with the purchase not sure how long that will last it did take me a minute to figure out how to sing and play the guitar at the same time overall I would recommend this game great family entertainment

Instead of 5 in-line buttons like previous GH games, this new one has two rows of 3 buttons. It makes it feel more like a real guitar but it does take some getting used to. The tracklist is impressive and has music from a variety of genres, including songs from the older GH games. Overall, it's a fun game to play.

This game, isn't top my tastes. It doesn't do what I wanted, allow me to play freely. The only options are me to okay the career mode, or play the live channel. And the live channel, you have to earn your plays. And not just that, if you pre ordered, you can't even use the live nation cash to the store until you unlock it. You literally have to play a game, to use your currency in it, and if you wanted to earn plays, you have to play the endless stream to earn it. In the end, if you really wanted to cheat the system, you could just sit there and not even play, and the game will earn you credits. Making actually playing for points, kind of unnecessary. And if you wanted to play live with friends, you have to have the play tokens. This is an all around flop. But if you're a guy who just plays, has fun with whatever music you get, this does work for you. i can easily see the stream a nice way to change pace, play against others to rock the leader board in every song. And when you're done, play you're favorites with the plays you earned by being the best.

I've played guitar hero on and off for the past 8 or 9 years. They're always good time wasters and good fun at get togethers. I'm digging the new controller and love the 24/7 music channels. Looking forward to what activision has in store for this franchise. Be careful though, if you have a thick TV stand like I do and sit semi far away -- you're going to want to plug the guitar's usb adapter into the side of the xbox. This could be just me but I got very poor signal quality when plugged into the back of it. Have fun and rock on!

GH Live is a lot of fun. I like the whole presentation & the way the game plays. I own all the other GH & RockBands, this is a nice change of pace. Getting used to the new guitar is not as bad as people are saying. As for the songs in the game. Not a big fan of it. But GH TV makes up for it. If you like GH, I think you'll like this game.
