    Love this Shower Head

My wife and I get ready at the same time, so she uses the bigger bathroom in our house and I’ve been sequestered to the small bathroom. Then last year I bought a hai for my shower… and she’s sneakily started showering in mine because she loves the shower head so much. So I bought a ‘cute’ light blue hai for her shower and she was really excited about it. Our whole house has sub-par water pressure and these help so much. Now that we are both on the same app, we can also compete to see who uses less water (me). Because I’m a nice husband, I also added the Fuse and the Repair Infusions this time, and she is loving her eucalyptus showers. All-in-all our family loves this shower head.

I just want to get Hai…everywhere in our home. This is one of the most exhilarating showers we have ever had. When I say we, I’m including our younger kids. To see our son run to tell us how amazing his shower was, was a complete shock. But we are so grateful that a shower head could get our son to be super excited about something he feels takes too much time away from his “everything else” time. Even though it’s something he has to do daily. Per his words, “that was the best shower I’ve ever had. It’s like a spa in there!” It has two settings, spa and regular and, boy oh boy, both are amazing. The water pressure is spectacular. The spa setting is like no other and I can guarantee it’s what you’ve been dreaming of every time you’ve purchased a new shower head with claims of giving you a spa feel. I’ve been there and wasted money searching for a great shower head. Stop right here and put this in your cart. No exaggeration. It’s that good. If you and your partner shower together, both people are feeling it at once, no more cold drafts for the person in the back waiting their turn, lol. It took less than 10 minutes to install. We do have to purchase a new shower arm, because we could not get the old head off of the original arm. After that, installation went flawlessly. The shower head is activated simply by turning the shower on. Simple water power…no batteries, no recharging, it just simply works. There is a light that will indicate different things based on the colors that you select. It notifies you when the shower is ready, when you’ve reached your desired temperature, and when you’ve gone over your set water usage. All good and possibly useful information, depending on how you need or want to use the information that is presented through the app. Yes, a shower head with an app. As funny as we thought that was it’s kind of cool to see this information. The shower head has to features But here’s where I give my negative. Sometimes you can only access this information when the shower is going. It will only update when the shower is on and I’ll get a message pop up inside of the app. Other times, I’ll open the app and I can see my recent sessions without an issue. Weird that, that isn’t always consistent. Another issue I’m finding is with the shower results. So, if I take a shower and turn it off and 6 minutes later when my husband gets in the shower, it’ll combine both times and save it as one long shower. When it was definitely two separate showers. It reads as if we’ve gone over our set water consumption. How long must one wait to get their individual shower results? It’s not a biggie but it’s fun when we are in competition mode to beat the other but then we can’t see what we got individually. Once again it isn’t a big deal, as we do often shower together and even though we may go over, we split the time and we aren’t really overusing after all. But if the shower is off for more than 3-5 minutes it should be considered separate showers. So nothing worth taking away the amazing”ness” of this shower head. It truly is a shower game changer and I, scratch that, we cannot wait to expand it to our other bathrooms. We also cannot wait to try their fuse and scents. It’s an extra accessory but the way this shower makes us feel already, it may be worth it. I say go ahead and throw away your dried out eucalyptus hanging over your shower head now. Haha. We highly recommend.

    Mindful of your water usage

As for a showerhead, this seems pretty basic. It is a single head, rubber hose, basic stainless steel finish with choice of color on the plastic parts. However, the special part is on the inside. Supposedly powered by the water, it can be connected to your smart device and used to track things like how much water you use and the temperature of the water. Making me realize how hot I usually run my shower. You also have a slider that adjusts the stream to a mist and the difference it makes really changes the style of shower. One other thing you have a choice in is the GPM on the model. I went with the 2.5 GPM model and man does this thing push out some water. I feel that because of the amount of water, I actually take shorter showers than I usually do because I don’t have to build up enough water to fully rinse off. The app shows 20 gallons as the national average, so it shows anything under that as saved. I feel with the 2.5GPM, it is kind of hard to stay under that unless you literally hop in and out in 7 minutes or less. But, that is what this is for, to help you be more mindful of your usage. It also considers the temperature of 105 over 20 gallons as energy used, so slightly cooler and less time and you are essentially using less energy than average. The app is the only way to get any details about your shower. It allows for some additional settings, like changing the light color based on gallons used and the temperature. This way you can see if the water is where you like it before you step in or can set it to alert you that you are going too high. There are some health tips and directions on how to clean it as calcium build up is a showerhead's worst enemy. Overall, it is a unique shower head. Though the build of the main body feels sturdy, with the stainless steel, the rest of it feels a bit cheap. The rubber/pvc hose never really expands from the ‘out of the box’ loop and sometimes makes the head turn if you don’t push it in well. The slider for the stream is nice and really does change how the shower feels. There is a little time after you are done with the shower for the app to connect and download the data, but any other time you just have to wait till you take another shower. If you want to be more aware of your water and energy usage, then this can at least help in the shower department.

Quick Install, Good Spray, Easy Alerts

The hai smart shower was a very simple DIY installation that required no tools and only a few minutes of my time. I chose to use plumber’s Teflon tape (not included) at the inlet connection to ensure a watertight connection but everything else was simply hand-tightened, and there were no leaks or drips anywhere. After installation, you need to download and install the hai app to a mobile device and create or log in to an account. A unique activation QR code is included on a card inside the package that you’ll use to add the device to your account and activate its two-year warranty. The showerhead and shower arm are both made of heavy-duty metal with a brushed stainless steel exterior. The 5ft hose is a silvery metallic color but made of rubber, and is just long enough that if I drop the showerhead, it doesn't hit the floor of my tub. Since the showerhead comes in several colors, the back and front faces of the wand are plastic in your chosen color, and I got the light blue called "Surf." The unit comes in two versions to accommodate different flow rates: standard at 2.5 gpm or eco at 1.8 gpm, and I have the former. The flow rate is printed at the base on the back of the wand. The holster that holds the wand is adjustable, so you can point the wand straight out or angle it downward when not using handheld. I didn’t like, however, that it is a metal-on-metal connection because the finish of the collar that slips into the holster does get scratched, and if you go past horizontal the wand can fall out. The sprayer has 35 rubber nozzles for the jets and a slider on the handle to gradually change from high-pressure streams to a softer aerated mist-like spray. The high-pressure setting provides decently firm but not sharp or painful jets of water while the mist is gentler and more soothing, but don’t expect a very fine mist, like a steam bath. I like the slide mechanism because you can choose spray patterns in between the two for your desired water pressure. To pair the showerhead with the app, you’ll need to run the shower, as the electronics embedded in the arm are water-powered and do not require batteries or wiring. It’ll connect to your phone via Bluetooth and the app should automatically detect the unit during pairing. Once added to your account, it may require a software update that could take a few minutes, during which you’ll need to leave the water running. After setup is complete, you can shut the water off before adjusting the settings in the app. You can add multiple hai showerheads in the app if you install them in more than one bathroom in your home. The two smart features included are the ability to choose a preferred water temperature from 33° to 120° F and a water usage alert from 2 gallons onward, which does not appear to have a maximum. For either of these, you can set a color (9 choices) for the LED on the shower arm to display to alert you that the set temperature or usage has been reached. You can also receive a push notification to your phone regarding water temperature, if it takes a while for your water lines to warm up. However, neither of these settings are limiters; that is, the water temperature can continue to rise above your desired temp, and you can continue to use water past your usage alert setting. When you’re done using the shower, if your phone is nearby, it will sync information to the app regarding your usage including a timestamp, time spent in the shower, gallons used, average water temperature, and kwh of energy used (to heat the water). You’ll also see efficiency metrics like water and energy saved when compared to the national averages. Just remember that only water usage through the showerhead itself gets tracked, and any water usage through a separate tub spout would be left out of these metrics. These numbers are averaged and recorded on daily, weekly, monthly, and annual charts in the app, so you can track your usage over time and spot trends. You can also review your recent shower sessions, though you’ll only see duration and gallons used in this history log. There is one final section of the app called 'rituals' that contains articles promoting wellness and well-being, like recommendations for better sleep, stretching, meditation, and tips for maintaining your showerhead. Overall, the hai smart showerhead provides a really nice shower experience with on-the-fly adjustable water pressure from firm to soft while providing you convenient notifications regarding water temperature and consumption. It unlocks the power of your usage data, so you can make decisions and take action regarding your household's habits in the shower, which not only helps you to save water and energy but also reduces costs and promotes conservation for a more sustainable lifestyle.

    Take A Smarter Shower

Who would have thought that technology would bring us a smart showerhead? I was a bit surprised when I heard of this. How could a showerhead be smart? Along with the app, you can track your water usage and temp. This handheld showerhead is made of high quality, stainless steel and has a flexible PVC hose. I like that this comes in 6 colors to go along with your bathroom color. I chose charcoal as my color of choice. You can chose between a mist mode or slide the controller to a stronger stream for a more invigorating shower experience. If you find your water pressure is just not strong enough, this showerhead will help with that. If you have installed a showerhead before, you will have no problem installing this. If you haven’t installed one, it is really not that difficult. Make sure that you have a standard wall mount for your showerhead. You will need some plumbers tape, a wrench (if needed, I used good old fashioned elbow grease) and follow the instructions that come with this unit. It really isn’t as hard as you might think. Once you have installed the showerhead and made sure it doesn’t leak, you will need to download the “hai - smart spa - shower system” app. Now that you have the app, you will need to follow the instructions to connect (via Bluetooth) the showerhead to the app. The app is very useful. You can set up an alert to let you know if you go over X amount of gallons during your shower. I can set up my favorite water temperature and when it reaches that temp, the light of the showerhead turns green (or choose a color you like in the app). I really like this feature in the winter, as I am not standing there naked, shivering, putting my hand in and hoping to feel if the temp is warm enough yet to hop in. I just wait outside the shower, it my warm clothes and once the light turns green, strip down and hop in. If you are water conscious, like I am, this is a great showerhead. You can see if you are wasteful with your water usage. If you use this correctly, this should help decrease your water bill a bit.

A Thoughtfully-Designed Product, But Is It Needed?

SUMMARY: The Hai showerhead is a thoughtfully designed product, that is easy to install and even with the water savings features, still gives out plenty of pressure for a pleasant shower. However, one must question, do you REALLY need a smart showerhead? Does a lowly showerhead really need smarts? For most, I’d say no. SET-UP App installation and configuration went flawlessly on my Android based smartphone. Following Hai’s instructions, left nothing to the imagination and account creation and set-up were top notch. The showerhead is powered solely by water flow, it has no battery and no capacitor, so it must be installed first and the water running to provide power to the Bluetooth radio installed. This is all explained in the installation instructions in the app. Once installed, my phone found the showerhead, updated the firmware. The downside is that since the showerhead has no way store energy for the Bluetooth radio, the water must remain on and running for the entire set-up, firmware update, initial configuration, and subsequent app changes. I find this quite disconcerting for a product made to help the owner save water, as I just wasted nearly 10 minutes of water use setting the product up. INSTALLATION Hai has done an outstanding job designing the showerhead. I have no complaints about the installation process. Hai has designed in thoughtful touches and items everywhere. My biggest kudos go to their team that designed the adapter for the water inlet. This is the first time I’ve ever installed a product that didn’t need a set of vice grips or adjustable wrench to install. They thoughtfully designed a wing onto the threaded connector allowing a homeowner to tighten the showerhead tool-free. AMAZING. I wish more manufacturers followed Hai’s lead. Furthermore, each connection in the system includes a soft rubber washer, eliminating the need to install Teflon tape at each fitting for a leak-free seal. Kudos Hai. You deserve it. USE This is going to be much shorter than my typical explanations, as it boils down to looking at the multi-function LED on the water-powered, power supply. The light is programmable and customizable via the Hai app. It reports a Bluetooth connection, water temperature, and water used. First up, using the Hai app, you can set the LED to change colors based on the number of gallons of water used. The default is 20 but can be adjusted higher or lower from there. When you reach the preset limit, the LED changes to your designated color indicating you have reached your preset water usage limit. The second, and most useful feature, is the water temperature indicator. The homeowner can set the showerhead to change the color of the LED based on their preferred water temperature. It is supposed to be a conservation item, but let’s face it, who wants to jump into a cold shower in the morning? The Hai will monitor water temperature and change LED color based on your preferences, giving you a visual indication that the water has warmed up and is now a decent temperature. This is by far, my favorite feature. NEGATIVES The most obvious negative is that with no means to store and retain energy in the device, most features are only available while water is actively spinning the impellers inside the device generating power. Shortly after powering off the showerhead, most features are unavailable. Any configuration changes, firmware updates, etc must be done with the water running. This partially negates the purpose of having a water saving showerhead. I either must take my phone with me in the shower (ain’t gonna happen) or I have to waste water to make app changes or firmware updates. I rarely take my phone into the bathroom with me while showering. Because of this, the showerhead never updates my usage patterns and trends. On the rare occasion I do take my phone with me, it will populate the statistics, but not without the water running. So, if I have my phone in the bathroom while showering, I get statistical update. However, if I shower and then 5 minutes later go grab my phone and come back the bathroom, no updates. Lastly, there are no user profiles that can be set up in the app. Whomever sets up the showerhead makes the determinations for LED indicator. Share your shower with a spouse? There is no way to compare their water usage and saving to yours. CONCLUSIONS In a nutshell, would I buy this for myself or recommend to a friend or loved one? The answer is no. I never thought I would say it, but there are somethings that just don’t need tech. The showerhead is one of them. Aside from monitoring the water temperature, ensuring I don’t jump into a cold shower, there isn’t anything this showerhead does, I can’t do with a simple timer. Hey, A****. Set a timer for 10 minutes. Done. The biggest kicker is that while Hai promotes this as a water saving device, you must waste water to program it and update it. I get that this may not have to be done very often, but it still defeats the purpose. With no way to store power in the device, no shower means no running water. No running water means no updates and no communications. I see limited appeal in the product. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Smart shower. Seems almost silly for a concept, until you are an adult with the skyrocketing costs of utilities. My household was in need of a new shower head, and this opportunity to try a “smart shower” has been a fascinating view into our family’s waste of resources. After setup (which took a total of 10 minutes from opening the box to turning on water), Smart features such as gallons used, kWh used, and temperature are great as information to keep waste to a minimum. The alerts are great for showering, showing a green light when preferred temp is reached and a red light when water use was reached. Because of this, we are able to be more efficient with our showering, shaving, etc. less time is spent relaxing in the shower. The shower head is versatile with pressure variants ranging from a hammering rainstorm to a soft mist. Adjusting is done with a simple sliding button. The length of tubing for the shower head is decent, able to reach any body parts. The app gives all the relevant info in a simple display. This is a great product by a young company, and I look forward to their future products.

When I heard of this I was very interested in how smart my shower can be. The installation was about 10 minutes. Just needed plumbers tape and a wrench to get my old head off. This replaced a pretty robust head that I had with a solid amount of water pressure. I was worried it would feel weak. After install there was a quick mobile app and pairing via bluetooth. Then after a fee showers I started to see our water and energy savings. Now it all clicked in what this can do. It seems like it keeps the pressure high but uses less water. I can literally see the savings in the app after each shower. The only cons are the feel of the shower handle feels like it is going to be slippery when I remove it from the top. However that has not been the case so far. The other con is the slight noise you hear when the shower is on. I assume that is the propeller system that is saving me the water. To save water/energy the light noise is totally worth it. The other possible con is the light. It is supposed to show you when your water temp has been met and when it goes over the limit you set. However that is not a detail we pay attention to when showering. You can turn it off in the app. Definitely a nice product if your looking to save money on water.

THE BREAKDOWN: This hai smart 2.5 gpm handheld showerhead is nothing short of amazing. The smart showerhead has arrived! The hai smart 2.5 gpm handheld showerhead is basic in design but big in features. It has a single head, rubber hose and stainless-steel finish. You do have a choice on colors for the plastic portions. This showerhead is powered by water, there are no batteries to replace or anything to plug in. You can connect this to the app to track things like the temperature of the water and how much water you use. There is also a slider to adjust the stream to a mist. The app does give good information. It says that the national average is 20 gallons. I think with the 2.5 gpm shower head it would be difficult to be under that. This is why they have the app to make you aware, it also helps make you aware that temperatures over 105 over 20 gallons uses more energy. Overall, this is a niche product that will make you aware of how much water and energy you are using. PRO’s: - Easy setup - No batteries - Great App CON's - Some features are only available while using. SUMMARY: Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they were in the market for an item like this.

I've been looking for a replacement washer head for some time now as the one I have might very well have been installed for a decade or so and was falling apart and half working. Nowadays you pay so much for one and it doesn't do anything special. But then we have the Hai. A Showerhead that does more than just spray water and look good. It's a very well thought out device. I like the simplicity of it. I went with the Charcoal as it didn't clash with the colors already in the bathroom. It was a breeze to install. It took me maybe all of 2 minutes to take the old Showerhead off and install this one. Hai really knocked it out here making this a tool free installation. Being able to adjust it using the built in hardware means less fuss and a more easily guaranteed install as you're not having to mess with a wrench and adjusting the size just right. I also appreciate the ability to adjust how the water flows, be it a straight flow to a full mist. It's really simple to operate by using the small slider on the neck of the Showerhead. The hose it generously long, honestly longer than I really need. I like being able to set a "timer" in a sense through the app to where I can set it to tell me wrap it up. The only real complaint I have happens to be with the App. It's easy to use and setup but the drawback is that you have to open your app and keep it open until you're done. It will not sync to the app if you turn off the water and then open the app. It would be nice if it would simply connect to your mobile device once it get's power and passively syncs. It's a bit of a nuisance honestly as I don't have a habit of bringing my mobile device with me to the bathroom. Hopefully there will be an update to the app that will allow this to work in the background. The issue with the app aside, the Hai is brilliant and affordable option. To have something that integrates with an app and helps you save money is not something you encounter today. Usually when you buy something that will save you money, you're paying a high price compared with cheaper alternatives. Hai really knocked it out here, most especially with the installation process. It really is easy, quick and intuitive. If you need a replacement and are looking for something that can help you save some money, this is a fantastic option.

This is my first "smart" shower head and for that, it's pretty nice. But as far as the smart features go, they leave me sort of wanting and hoping a firmware update can fix it up later. Install was really easy. I've installed a few shower heads in my day so I was prepared already. Taking my old shower head off was the biggest struggle. Attaching this one was a breeze though. You don't need any tools, really. The quick start guide recommends you have some plumbers tape which I had some extra laying around. The shower head has a lever of sorts that jiggles between two different positions. One to tighten the shower head to the wall outlet and the then you can move it down to tighten the whole unit. At first I was concerned because any movement of the shower handle (or just placing it in it's holster) would make the whole smart base swivel around a bit. I figured out that the second position on the tightening level was for locking that into place though and it was all good. Setup through the app was pretty easy too. You need to create (another) account to use it which is really annoying. After that annoyance, it does a good job of walking you through setup which was really quick and easy. You need to turn the water on (which is how it gets it's power, it says power should be available for up to an hour after your shower which is pretty neat) and then the app just finds the shower head and updates the firmware and it's ready to go. Really straightforward. As a shower, it works well. Pressure is good and doesn't feel any different than my old shower (which I enjoyed the pressure of). If you're used to (and actually use) a lot of different "modes" on your shower head, this one might not be for you because it only has a strong stream and a mist. You can slide between the two so you can find the pressure you like but there's no single stream blast or pulse or anything that you find on a lot of other wand shower heads. Luckily, our old shower head basically never left the setting that this one is always at so I'm not going to worry about that. The smart features are alright on this one. The app is pretty well designed. It's a bit simplistic and there's not much to it, but it's a shower head so I can't fault it there. It'll give you a rundown of the last shower you took as well as a breakdown over time. It also offers you hints on how much water and power you might have saved with that shower based on how much water you used and how hot the water was. I don't believe I will ever see a non-zero number in those slots because my first shower almost doubled the amount of water they recommend and the temperate they recommend is barely warm to me. But I didn't get it to save money so I can ignore those zeros for now. The shower head features a little pillar with a small light on it and in the app you can set up "alerts" for water usage and temperature. You can specify a color for each alert and a number. That's where it ends though. By default it'll give you an orange light when you reach 20 gallons of water and it'll light up green when the water is at 90 degrees. It even looks like it tries to light both lights at the same time but it's pretty hard to see. When the orange light came on, it looked like the green light was still trying to take up half the dot. It's neat and all but I would have loved to see more. For starters, given only two alert states that are independent, I would have thought two separate lights would have been a little nicer than just one. Not much that can be done about that one. But more importantly, I would love to see the ability to add more than one alert per category. For instance, turn blue when the water is 70 degrees, orange when it's 90 degrees, red when it's 100 degrees. This would help out when getting a shower ready for the kids as we could aim for a different color of water based on who was using the shower. Then for water usage, we could have one color when we get to 15 gallons, and then another at 20 gallons and a red alert color of sorts when we get to 30 gallons. I think this would have a bigger impact on me trying to save water if I get a little bit of a warning as I approach my goal usage and then a get a big red flag when I blow past it. If anyone from hai might see this, I would love to see a firmware update add this kind of functionality if possible. All in all, I do like the shower head and the few smart features it provides for now. I hope for an updated firmware but I won't hold my breath. As is, it's a little underwhelming but I'm not disappointment.

Everything is getting smart these days and the bathroom is not safe either. The Hai showerhead is a very well built showerhead with some interesting smarts tucked under the hood. As a basic showerhead it has great pressure and is built with very high quality metal that feels great in the hand and looks great on the wall. It has two settings a normal and atomized setting. The atomized setting is nice in that it uses way less water and is soft on the skin, but it does make the water considerably colder. The smart functions on this device are very interesting but I'm not sure how useful they really are. All the tech inside actually runs on water pressure so there is never a need to replace the battery. Other than that you can track water usage and set the light to change when the water reaches a preset temp. Overall the smart features feel pretty lackluster for the price of this thing. If your someone who wants to reduce water usage maybe this is useful but otherwise I'm not sure how useful the smart features are.

    Fuse add-on

Let me start by saying I am a BBY employee. I have been using this showerhead + fuse attachment + fuse tablets for a short while and love how easy it was to install and I am not good as those types of things. Had it up and running under 10 minutes. The fuse experience makes the shower incredibly enjoyable with the perfect balance of pressure and “aromatherapy” scent. Tough to beat for the price of the entire system. My favorite is the relax infusion!
