Coming 40 years after Michael’s first massacre of Laurie Strode’s friends, HALLOWEEN takes us back to Haddonfield just as Michael is about to be transferred from Smith’s Grove. He escapes, as we expected, but this time Laurie is ready for him. She’s ready to make this his last Halloween, even if it kills her.
Absolutely stellar performance from Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her introductory role as Laurie Strode. Full of new characters, suspenseful chase scenes, invenetive kills, and plenty of homage to both Halloween ‘78 and the entire Halloween franchise. If you love Halloween... this is a MANDATORY watch.
***looks & sounds EXCELLENT in 4K!

I don’t have a 4K TV or 4K player yet so this review if for the Blu-ray Disc that came in the steelbook.
The extra features include:
Deleted/Extended Scenes
Back in Haddonfield: Making Halloween
The Original Scream Queen
The Sound of Fear
Journey of the Mask
The Legacy of Halloween
Which I believe are featured on the 4K disc as well. As far as the movie goes, I thought it was just okay. Michael Myers and Laurie Strde were the best parts, but then we had to deal with the lame supporting cast which up for about 80% of the movie.
Although I really liked Laurie’s grand daughter, the two bloggers and Officer Hawkins, the film insists on focusing on less interesting characters through out.
I give this Blu-ray 4 stars and the movie 3 stars. The cover is an incredible drawing by Todd McFarlane which is nice for displaying.

Hands down the best sequel in the entire Halloween series.
*Mild spoiler* The filmmakers idea to retcon the series and undo Laurie being Michael's sister was brilliant. Not knowing Michael's motivations make him intense and unnerving again, just like he was in the original, 40 years ago. Jamie Lee Curtis is fantastic again as Laurie, this time being played as a hardened former victim, battling her own PTSD, and coming out stronger for it. I can't say enough about the quality of this movie, the cast, the writing, production, etc. But I don't want to spoil anything else. Enjoy the movie!

Forty years ago, John Carpenter along with the late, great Debra Hill, birthed the slasher genre with their now iconic HALLOWEEN. There’ve been many sequels and reboots over the years, most of them crap, if we’re being honest. Now, for the first time since the Michael Myers-less HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH from 1982, Carpenter is back with the franchise for a direct sequel to the original film. Disregarding all of the franchise except for the original film, director and cowriter David Gordon Green and cowriter Danny McBride enlisted Carpenter as a producer and score composer to bring some class and legitimacy to their entry, also titled HALLOWEEN. So, does it work? I’d say yes but, as with all of the other films in the franchise, it’s nowhere near as good as the original.
Along with Carpenter, Jamie Lee Curtis is back as Laurie Strode. Now a grandmother who has alienated her family and ruined her life by obsessing over the mass murdering Myers, Curtis commands the screen as the tough but broken Strode. Taking a page out of the TERMINATOR 2 playbook, Strode has spent her life training for another possible encounter with The Shape. Though the film is somewhat of an ensemble piece, it is Curtis who gives the picture its heft. Other players include Judy Greer as Strode’s somewhat estranged daughter Karen, Andi Matichak as the young granddaughter who has more compassion for her family’s matriarch, Toby Huss as Karen’s peacekeeping husband, Will Patton as a cop who’s well aware of what Myers can do, Haluk Bilginer as Myers’ physician and jailor, and Jefferson Hall and Rhian Rees as true crime podcasters investigating the now forty year old Babysitter Murders. James Jude Courtney and original Shape Nick Castle share duties on the intimidating Myers.
As you might expect, with that creative lineup, this is a well-made picture. Mood, something that most of the rest of the franchise struggled with, is pitch perfect here. Dread inducing and thrilling while still being fun and entertaining, Green weaves together his own style, opting not to imitate Carpenter, while still paying homage to iconic scenes from the original. Carpenter and bandmates Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies utilize the original iconic music while peppering in new themes and stingers. Michael Simmonds’ cinematography goes to great length in capturing The Shape’s menace and power. Though this film is much gorier than the original, it’s not a splatter film by any means, allowing naturalistic anxieties to flow from the narrative and creep into viewers’ psyches. There are a few points where it almost tips into fan service and I feel it could’ve been a tighter picture with a trim of seven or eight minutes, but overall I was thoroughly satisfied.
David Gordon Green, Danny McBride, John Carpenter, and Jamie Lee Curtis had a herculean task of resurrecting this franchise, and I’m happy to report that it mostly works. Playing with audience expectations, giving nods to well known iconography, and still delivering a thrilling product is no easy task. For me, it’s my third favorite in the series, after the original and part III. I can’t wait to watch it again.
Comic book icon Bill Sienkiewicz created the artwork for the Best Buy exclusive steelbook, making it the must-own edition for me. Scratchy and atmospheric, it perfectly compliments the film.

Michael Myers has come alive and died a million times and then did it again in 2018 with help from a large cast/crew and Jamie Lee Curtis returning to her seminal character that ignites every frame she's in. It may be pedestrian at times and have a few misfire ideas, but even without nostalgia I was entertained from the first moment and am thankful that everyone tried their hardest to give Halloween new meaning. And it's beautiful, well designed aurally and you cannot beat an original John Carpenter score who is basically the John Williams of horror. A+

Halloween 2018 is a really good entry in the long running franchise, wisely course correcting from the Rob Zombie trainwreck. Admittedly, I don’t mind Halloween 2007 but H2 was a travesty and showed that Zombie didn’t quite understand the core of the characters. This movie is a direct sequel to the original set in an alternate universe where the 1981 Halloween II and its subsequent sequels never happened. There’s no more sibling angle here, instead bringing back a fierce Laurie Strode to face a newly unleashed Michael Myers once again on Halloween night. Considering how the movie was filmed, the Blu-Ray is actually better than the UHD considering there isn’t much use for the HDR and there aren’t any notable upticks in sharpness. Overall it’s worth a purchase.

Halloween 2018 gets the gang back together. The survivors, that is. Despite many terrible sequels (a few including Jamie Lee Curtis), this version of Halloween is a direct sequel to the 1978 original and ignores all the other sequels (and the horrid Rob Zombie reboots). Jamie Lee Curtis is a shell-shocked senior citizen waiting for her chance to finally kill Michael Myers, the masked killer who nearly ended her life 40 years before. Now her daughter and grand-daughter are in danger from the killer as well. The filmmaking is good and the story is well-written...for the most part. I thought they went a little too far with some of the #metoo #timesup, pandering to the millennials kind of stuff. But, overall, it's a good horror film with some solid writing and acting.

First and foremost I want to say that I really enjoyed this movie. A lot. There were a few parts that were pointless, but it was a MUCH better sequel than Halloween 2. I just really liked the modern take on this classic. And the steelbook is fantastic. It's very simple. The front contains Michael Myers' face and the back is his hand with a knife. The silver sketch look on black looks great. Inside has Laurie on 1 side and Michael on the other. It's just a very solid steelbook and I'm very happy with this purchase.

I have been a big fan for most of my life. The original series had taken it in a direction that was unfixable. I was glad when Rob Zombie took the reigns to give it a chance to be corrected. So this leaves off from the Original one. Although I did like Halloween 2, this was a decent one. Had some flaws but all of them do. I hate the keep trying to humanize Michael. The whole movie should have been him in the mask. Not an old man in a hospital. If they are going to try to make him a random killer, then keep it that way.

Love the Halloween movies. Overall this was better than H20 and the other films that followed. I didn't like how they made Laurie turn into a weird Rambo style grandma. She was originally a nerdy book worm who was afraid of her own shadow and now you're supposed to believe that she's a kick butt take no prisoner type of old lady? Not very believable. I bought the DVD/Blueray with digital download. Totally worth the price I paid. I don't really need the DVD but it wasn't an option. The digital is nice because I can watch the film wherever I want. I prefer Blueray when I'm watching at home. Best Buy always gets my business because of fast and friendly customer service when I need it.

I am a huge Halloween fan with the original being my favorite of course. The sequels that came after however, do have their place on my list. In all the sequels made, none of them hold a candle to this one. It’s finally been done right. This Halloween has it all, it’s a good scare with an awesome soundtrack and the classic Halloween theme. The mask used in the film is very well done as well. The storyline is great, the acting done well. This film is easily the best one in the franchise after the original of course.

I will admit, at first I was reluctant to say I liked this sequal to the original. I had questions as to why they decided to leave certain things out, skip all other movies in the series, etc. At the end of the day, I realized, times have changed and so have how they make movies. Overall this is an amazing movie, whether you are into the Halloween series or just into horror genre. Would I have liked to see them take different approaches during parts of the movie? Yes. But I am still giving this 5 stars.

I have to admit, when I heard they were making this movie, I was curious as well as skeptical. But this one far exceeded my expectations. While it does discount all previous sequels in the Halloween series from Halloween II to Halloween Resurrection, it offers fresh insights into the original movie, as well as the characters of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. When I saw this one in the theater, I was quite focused on the action during the movie. Highly recommended for any fan of the Halloween series.

This movie was a great addition to the halloween franchise! I mean I got confused after they said this was a true sequel to the original and it had the same name as the first and, well am confused again while I am writing this.
This movie got lots of hate from die hard fans and am not sure why!? This was a bloody sequel that no one asked for yes, but it was bloody fun! And entertaining. I lost track of what’s going on on this franchise a long time ago. So just sit back and enjoy a good slasher film

Happy Halloween MICHAEL! Jamie Lee Curtis returns to Halloween when Michael had spent 40 Years in captivity, waiting for her. Only problem for him is that she had been preparing to. Wiping the slate clean was appropriate. I would have loved a H20 type ending just without the "someone else under the mask" ending. Other than that, good movie. Michael just needs to die. I've loved the series for as long as I could, but it needs to end at some point. Very soon. No more reboots. Just end it.

I am glad I pre-ordered this as it has been sold out for a couple weeks now. Will Best Buy reissue it, I can't imagine them not as it sold out quickly and is going for over $50 on eBay right now. The artwork is great except the logo. It was the logo that artist Bill Sienkiewicz drew on the original print but that is the only complaint for me. There could've been more extras on the discs but they will most likely be released on the next collectors edition/reissue/limited release!

This latest installment in the Halloween franchise, to me, is in between the original and the Rob Zombie versions. It has the suspense of the original, and even some scenes recreated from the original but with Laurie Strode in Michael Myers' place, but some violent, graphic scenes like Rob Zombie's films. It is a well done movie overall, I just didn't agree with some of the things they had Michael Myers do (hence the 4 stars). Jamie Lee Curtis' performance is incredible! I haven't watched the special features yet but I am looking forward to them. Love the steelbook packaging. If you're into the Halloween movies, this is a must see.

With a long history of sequels and reboots, the Halloween franchise has seen its highs and lows. This direct sequel to the original 1978 movie ignores all the sequels and reboots and picks up forty years later, dealing with the aftermath of the original movie. A good idea is made even better by the execution of the story. Jamie Lee Curtis shines in her signature role as Laurie Strode. The clarity of this 4K disc just engrosses you into this world of Haddonfield, Illinois.

1978's Halloween changed took the horror genre to a whole new level! It spawned a franchise that has lasted over 40 years. Some have mixed feelings about every movie released since then. 2018's Halloween, which is a direct sequel to the original, holds it's own as an original story that works as well as it's predecessor! Just as suspenseful and even more thrilling!! On top of this just being a really good movie, this steelbook should be something every collector needs.
