This has not changed a bit in 11 years!

This game is as great as it was 11 years ago. It plays the exact same, because the coding is the exact as the first one. It's a fine coat of graphics, and audio. Not that much violence, language is not that bad, but the Flood creatures are very ugly and grusome, and may scare younger audiences. When I was young it scared me very much so. The story line is a very ominous, but no anything to put into shock, like Dead Space. Dead Space is a bad horrific series, and no one under 17 should play it. Halo is a more younger-freindly series. Aside from that, this is the GREATEST video game remake of the GREATEST game series in the world, and I reccomend it to everyone alike!

Ready and waiting...

First off, let me start by saying that this game will be released for $40, not $60 as this site is claiming. Now then, this is the franchise that single-handedly brought the Xbox to massive popularity, and this is the game that started it all. I cannot wait for this to release. Anyone who calls themselves a true halo fan will be picking it up. The original graphics are being remastered to fit in with the Reach world, along with seven Combat Evolved maps being added to the Halo: Reach multiplayer. If that isn't good news, then I don't know what is. Some people are having a hard time dealing with the maps not being included on the same disk as the Anniversary Edition an instead being added to Reach. Those people are what I like to call ignorant. In terms of finances, it is by far the smartest thing for Microsoft to do. Like I said, it makes no real difference to true Halo fans because we already own Reach. Win-win as far as I'm concerned. Overall, this game will definitely be worth the $40 that Microsoft is asking for it. Some of you may not agree with what I've said, we are are all entitled to our opinions. See you all on release day!

I'm not into much of these shoot them up games honestly, thats why it gets a 3 star. However, it worked great for my teen brother, he loves it and there were no issues with Best Buy.

I do like this remake of Halo: Combat Evolved. It is worth picking up if you're a big Halo fan. The graphics are so tasty, and the sound (like the melee of the needler) are just to die for. The anniversary maps are a lot of fun, it's great to finally play levels like 'Damnation' against people online. All of the online playlists for Halo: Reach aren't available though this games online so dont go trading in your copy of Reach to buy this. Toggle Crouch acts really wierd too. You pretty much can't use it because as soon as you start moving you pop up, but you also go back down when you stop moving. I don't understand what they were going for there. Another really annoying pointless addition: when you select multiplayer at the main menu it plays this cool montage while it (loads?) takes you to a new main menu. It was neat the first time, but you can't skip it until after a minute or so in. It sounds like a small thing, but it's annoying being forced to watch this video. $40 is a high price to ask, I bought it while it was on sale for $30. The game is also manufactured in Puerto Rico.

This game is just how I remembered it. I was skeptical at first about buying it. I thought they may have changed to much about the game but they didn't. The real big improvement to this game is the graphics. You can switch back to the original graphics just by pressing the "back" button but why would you? They really made the ring come alive. The graphics are so much better. They seem to have taken the graphic improvements from Halo 2 and 3. They added so much more detail to the levels and everything is just so much more lively. I only switch back to the original graphics just to see what a major improvement they truly are.
They also remastered the soundtrack. It sounds clearer and better and they also made the guns and explosives sound more crisp. I know this game will sound awesome with a surround sound. I don't have a 3-D tv to test out that feature.
Overall I am completely satisfied with the improvements on this game. They did not change the fast paced action of this game which is a good thing. They just improved the graphics and sounds and added a little bit to the story line. You have to find these terminals which tell you the back story of the game. I think its 10 total, one on each level and you can also find these skulls which make the game easier or harder depending on which ones you turn on after you find them. Its 10 of those too I think. There is one particular skull that can give you infinite ammo if you find it, very helpful on legendary difficulty. The multiplayer now has an online feature just like any other modern game but I dont play online. I just bought the game for the main campaign.
If you are a Halo fan and enjoyed the original as much as I did you will not be disappointed in this remake. They did not add new levels to this game, just improvements. Now if only they will work on Halo 2......

true hardcore halo fans

Dont even clame to be a true halo fan InfiniteZero. Your far far far from the hardcore fan base and nobody should even consider what you have to say about this game. Halo ce was a great game and i spent countless hours playing it. halo 2 improved that experience and introduced the multiplayer to xbox live. Halo 3 with better graphics, kept that experience alive and introduced forge and countless hours of custom games that never could have been created on the first 2 games.
If you even read the first book of the halo franchise, I will be the first to admit that the fiction of Halo Reach was way off base unlike the first 3 games. But, with that being said. The multiplayer of Halo Reach was not a let down and even though the fiction was off, the campain was still enjoyable. Some of the armour abilities were a little far fetched and could have been left out of the game but most were a great addition to the game and the armour customization just got better from halo 3 and the armour affect was a great new addition. Cant wait to see what halo 4 has in store for us. I hope they keep firefight in matchmaking.
Halo ce aniviersary is going to be well worth the $40. Not only are they keeping the gameplay the same in the campain as the original halo ce but they are allowing us to switch from the classic graphics to the new HD graphics. what else could we ask for? for probably the past 5 years i have dreamed of a updated halo ce, and i donnt no about you guys but i am excited about the classic multiplayer maps coming to xbox live. Hope this review was helpful

This is a great game. HALO Combat Evolved Anniversary takes the very first HALO game and upgrades it to HD.
In HALO, Humanity is fighting a losing war against an alien empire called 'The Covenant'. An Earth space cruiser finds an artificial ring-shaped world called 'HALO' #hence the title# and crash lands with the Covenant in hot pursuit. You assume the role of SPARTAN 117, the last survivor of a series of super soldiers in a pitched battle to survive Covenant attacks and to uncover a mystery locked deep within HALO itself. The story is the same as the original XBOX game, but with the addition of some foreshadowing to HALO 4. HALO boasts one of the best developed sotries of any game and, in my opinion, the best developed story for any FPS.
The HD graphics are brilliantly detailed and the sound is improved over the original XBOX version. A very nice showcase for what the XBOX 360 can do. The controls are easy to pick up and the gameplay is great. Whether your on foot armed with one of the many awesome weapons or at the helm of one of the cool vehicles, the controls are flawless. There's lots of exciting action in HALO and some truly suspenseful moments near the end of the game.
343 Industires has done a great job with the HALO Universe and the series looks to having a very strong future. I'm really hoping for an HD version of HALO 2.

343 did a very good job keeping the game play and story line of the original halo in place while improving the graphics. Halo CE picks up where Halo Reach leaves off as far as the story is concerned.
There are a few changes to the game that I am not a fan of. They now have Elite Zelots instead of the Gold Elites in the original. There is a marine drop in the Truth and Reconciliation level not in the original. One of the acheivements seems impossible. I don't know how anyone will be able to beat the Library on Legendary in under 30 minutes. Live Co-op is laggy for the non-host.
All in all, I am extremely happy with the game. I can now quit playing the original XBox version that I still have.

Oof to the other review here...just wanna say that it's great that another production company is startin up in this economy and good luck to them! Hope this Halo CE lives up to its original (need my nade chain reactions again!), and Halo 4 should be epic. Even if part of me wishes the trilogy(ies) ended with the first, there's a chance of something great here instead of what we all expected: completely nothing. If it fails we can simply forget and look back on the first 3.
Let me just add: ps3 is just as amazing as the 360 but wow...nintendo?...what you thinkin girl? here's their production process: console, metroid, mario, super smash, zelda. new console, metroid, mario, super smash, zelda. new console, metroid, mario, super smash. oh ya, and pokemon. beautiful games but common where are the ideas??..and fitness games

I got hooked on the original Halo when it first came out. The upgraded edition for the 360 is a welcome edition to my collection. They did a nice job improving the graphics and audio for the 360 while still keeping the stuff that made Halo a great game in the first place. Overall, I found the upgraded version to be even more fun to play then the original. The improved graphics make the environment more fun to play in. You find yourself catching more things that you never noticed in the original. A warning to non-Halo addicts though. It is still essentially an older, upgraded game. The graphics, storyline and game play still won't match some of the newer titles like MW3 or Rage, but still, it's a blast to play.
