This is my 2nd very good quality blue-tooth speaker. The Harmon has super clear rich sound and able to fill a large room without distortion or play lower volume background music. The Harmon has a curved face that sits upward to elevate the sound and is easily moved room-to-room with back-side in-mold hand grip. Battery lasts 4 hours of continuous play and blinks low battery warning for 10 minutes. Bluetooth picks up immediately and holds connection. I am very pleased. I also am very happy with my smaller 2-yr old JBL Charge that I take on frequent out-of-state trips.

At the suggestion of the store clerk I bought the HK Onyx Studio 2. I could not be more happy..sound quality was surprisingly good..Bluetooth portability, easy to charge, almost no instructions needed and half price promo sale made this an easy decision. 5 speakers makes it boom..I can't turn this up to full volume and it covers all the sound ranges with virtually no distortions. Impressive speaker!

Of all the speakers I have tested this by far was the best sound and clarity. Although it says the speaker is portable, it's kind of heavy weight wise, the battery doesn't last very long for portable use, but I am NOT willing to give up sound and clarity for portability. If you're looking for something for your home or a particular room this is a great choice, but if you're looking for portability you should definitely go for something else, but again with most portable speakers you lose the sound quality.

Great sound, excellent bass, best speaker I've gotten so far. Great for music and movies. The bass on this speaker is just exquisite! I recommend this product. The only down side battery lasts about 4 hours not plugged in so take the power cord where ever you go. I also wish it would give you a percentage of how much battery is left. I say buy it and if you don't like it just return it. Try it out.

I was eyeing this speaker for awhile after watching many videos of this speaker against other speakers in it's class. It's by far the best portable bluetooth speaker for the money in my opinion. Granted it doesn't play at full volume for awhile when not plugged in, but I keep it plugged in 99% of the time. It has great bluetooth range, and it really sounds incredible. Highly recommend

This is a speaker with a great design and great sound. It has two tweeters, two three inch woofers, and two passive radiators for base. Plenty of base for a speaker of this size. And it's all packed into a compact, easy to carry pod with a built in handle. This is the second one I've bought, a Christmas present for my brother-in-law and sister. The first one's mine and it's awesome.

I love good sound and bass. Great speaker for both especially when you position it where the back is facing a wall. The bass bounces off the wall and amplifies it more. The only drawback I read on reviews prior to purchasing was the lack of battery life when not plugged into a power outlet. The speaker on max only last me approximately 30-45 minutes. Not good! Other than that.....it's a great speaker. It was for $450 but I got it on sale for $220. I honestly would NEVER pay the full retail. It's not worth that.

This is definitely not an objective review. Please skip this review if you want an objective review. I briefly tested the bluetooth capabilities with my Xperia Z3V and it worked fine. I did not test the distance of the bluetooth capabilities. For the majority of my listen, these speakers were plugged into an ifi Nano idsd via a 3.5mm cable (just for reference). Obviously, this is an indoor speaker but I fine the shape to be really inconvenient. I also don't really like how the speaker is shooting the sound at an angle and not directly straight out. I also don't really like the legs as I've been finding the older variation/model's legs are breaking. From my knowledge they also aren't detachable which is a huge negative if you're going to be taking it around and potentially risking it dropping. As for sound quality, it's fine. I have my Sony SRS X5 to compare and basically they sound similar only that the Onyx Studio 2 just sounded a touch more refined in the treble section and the bass had a touch more kick. Basically, it has the sound of the Sony SRS X5 but just sounds bigger/grander but by a small margin. To be honest, I had a lot more expectations as for sound but it just did not impress me. I would've threw out my SRS X5 if they sounded miles better but they just did not. With the SRS X5 in a LOT more convenient shape, I would just go for the SRS X5 or the later model SRS X55 for a sleek and minimal design without really sacrificing decent sound.

It is portable but not a pocket gizmo. Having said that, there is simply no rival in the market in terms of sound quality. Good volume too - easily handled my 20-person New Year Eve's party pumping out dance beats above all other noise. Battery holds some 5-6 hours depending on volume. Connect 2 devices and alternate the source - a tip 4 casual dj's.

*** (please note that this excellent review is considering the $199 sale price. At five hundred bucks, this speaker would be a joke) ***I bought this speaker for a retail environment. The sound is excellent, bluetooth connectivity is flawless (also love being able to connect from 2 devices simultaneously). Great to be out of the way with no wires. I have it sitting on top of a cooler and nobody sees it, People can't believe all that sound is coming out of that one little speaker. It easily fills up a 1,300 sqf space. Good and not exaggerated bass response. I don't use the battery feature, but tried it out during construction, and it worked fine. My only minor complaint would be that when you disconnect the power and it switches to battery power, it automatically powers off and you have to reboot it. Overall, a great speaker for the price. Would be epic to take on the deck or go camping with, too,

I actually got one of these before purchasing another at Best Buy. I was researching and trying to find a portable Bluetooth capable speaker that was capable of filling a larger room with people in it (conference or class room) and have actual nice sounding bass instead of 'strained' sound like many of the small Bluetooth speakers. I had tried and liked several others, and know that many speakers out there sound pretty darn good for their size as well. When I picked up one of these Onyx 2 speakers I was AMAZED at the clarity and richness of the sound and the depth and accuracy of the bass.. It didn't seem possible from such a small portable device. When I used it in the conference center with tables of people in it for music they all thought there was an expensive built in sound system... Our Music minister, a sound aficionado, was very taken with the quality of sound, saying he was actually envious! SO when I saw this on sale at Best Buy for this great price I had to buy him one as a gift! He uses it for all kinds of things with the Youth group, outings, small groups, classes, etc. OK now about the speaker itself - having the ability to use either Bluetooth or a patch cord, to use on battery power or plugged in makes this a very versatile and handy device. Having the microphone and ability to use it as your phone extension is really cool too - and works remarkably well. But hands down what this speaker excels at is amazing sound quality... It can fill a large room and not sound strained, the bass is amazing - and not just in that loud thump, but in accurate and rich tones. Clarity is better than any portable and frankly better than most decent book shelf speakers. Yes this is a little costlier and larger than some other good portable Bluetooth speakers, but wow is the power and richness of the sound so worth it!

My nephew had the older model of this speaker for years & we loved it. The sound was great & we used it for numerous hours nonstop. So I begged my wonderful husband to buy it for me as a Christmas gift & he did. You have no idea how excited I was. I love music & knew that it would be perfect on the days when I wanted to do a deep cleaning on the house or cooking holiday meals. The 1st one we bought the leg broke in addition to what appeared to be a charging issue & I had only had it a few days. I returned that one & received another brand new speaker so I brought it home read the instructions & charged it. Let it charge for over 24 hours. Day one it was fine. I did not use it everyday but I begin to notice the same battery concern that I noticed with the 1st one. I've unplugged the speaker connected it to my iPad or phone turn my music on & gotten in the shower & before my shower is finished it would shut off. I've unplugged it brought it down while cooking & 35 mins in it would simply cut off. Before writing this review it cut off 4 times in a row. I don't know what changes they made from the 1st one to this new "gold" model but it's beginning to really irritate me & im ready to return this one.

I bought the Harman Kardon Onyx 2 to take over for a cheap, tinny sounding BT speaker. I'm very pleased with this unit. For such a small package it has tons of range and a good, solid, and pure sounding bass. In fact, throughout it's range it sounds pure and unstrained in delivering sound. If you want your bass thumpy and your highs screechy and over-cooked this probably isn't the speaker for you. For a small speaker it seems to deliver sound the way the sound was recorded. That must be from the solid design (though the legs probably wont take lightly to abuse) and the fine, broad array of speakers and crossovers. Luckily, I found this on sale at a great price which made it all the better. If I have suggestions for the next in the Onyx series it would be a battery life indicator, a charging progress indicator and the control button descriptions printed on the front where they are easily seen. None of this is a game stopper, just little things that would make it a bit friendlier to use.

Sad to have missed out on the $149 Black Friday sale but $200 isn't bad. Speakers are amazing and look very high end with the Rose gold colored feet and logo. Feels more finished than the previous model. Sound quality is amazing the entire back reverberates and you can hear the bass through rooms and walls.

I had been looking for a bluetooth speaker for some time. I reviewed and compared then I reviewed and compared some more. I can't tell you how many times I made up my mind on what I was going to get only to go to the store and have doubts. Best Buy had this speaker on sale (marked way down) and I couldn't resist the purchase. It was still more than what I wanted to spend but for the price I couldn't turn it down and boy was I glad I got it. This thing sounds incredible. It paired up quickly and easily to my tablet and any other device I want to use. There are two problems I have with it though otherwise it's a 5 star. First, is the battery life. It's okay but it pales in comparison to other bluetooth speakers. Second, it is an awkward design. Having said that, the main reason I bought this speaker was for the sound. On that it does not fail. I wouldn't ever consider paying the regular price for it but the sale price makes this one awesome speaker.

I have purchased several bluetooth speakers and the Onyx Studio 2 is by far the best especially for the price on Black Friday. Easy to configure and connect to phone. Bass levels are impressive and sounds great and low and high volume. Visually looks great in living room. A must buy!

This far exceeded what we had thought it could produce for a Bluetooth speaker! I've purchased Bose in the past and returned it due to poor sound quality. I was skeptical about this but after reading reviews and seeing the sale price I figured I would try it. OMG! Crisp, clear, amazing sound. Battery life ran approx. 3 hours at near max volume during a backyard gathering, not great, but acceptable trade off for the quality of sound. Easy connection, stylish design. And to top it off, Best Buy honored the price match guarantee which saved me money!! So happy with this purchase.

Convenient. Sleek design. Easy to use. Excellent sound quality. Impressive. A little pricey if you don't get it on sale, but if you can afford it, you won't be disappointed. If you don't need to be as mobile, consider the sonos play 5 for a similar price.

I wasn't sure about this speaker because the battery life is not that great and its not very portable. However, this speaker can get very loud and I was very shocked about the weight being so minimal. Also, if you like bass, it definitely packs a punch.

I've been shopping around for awhile for a new speaker having been mostly a Jambox or Beats By Dre user in the past I wanted a change. I've heard the Harmon Kardon Onyx ( original ) many times and always loved the sound and the fact that it's a great value ( often seen on sale for a fraction of the usual price ) but that also left me to believe that they were coming out with a new model and here I was correct. When I saw the Onyx 2, I instantly bought it and have not been disappointed. I love the new design features, the leather backing, gold accents and matte appearance. The sound is also remarkably better I've even set my 2 up next to an original and noticed the difference. If you are looking for an amazing wireless speaker this is it or even the original. I use this as a speaker and an addition to my sound bar set up for home theater style usage as well.
