On paper, this is exactly what I was looking for. It has the one thing that the Fire TV Recast is missing: a QAM tuner (though my initial test was with a standard ATSC antenna). In practice, however, this device is a disappointment.
Initial setup wouldn't work on any of the 3 Android devices that I own (1 phone, 2 tablets, all on different versions of Android). Good thing I have an iPhone for work. Scanning for channels is pretty quick, but, going against all logic, the channels aren't stored on the Cordcutter TV. You have to run a scan on each phone, tablet, and streaming device that you want to use with your Cordcutter TV.
Live TV works well enough, but the picture quality doesn't compare to a straight antenna-to-TV connection. There's occasional choppiness, but it's not too terrible.
The app is poorly designed. It's not user-friendly, and the interface looks old. The messages are written in poor English. The firmware update screen says "Cordcutter TV has operated normally you can check upgraded your device version." Quality control doesn't seem to be a priority for Hauppauge.
The DVR functionality is downright awful. The "guide" that they provide is a joke. It only goes ahead a few hours, and you can't use it to schedule a recording. Recordings have to be scheduled manually by selecting the channel, date, start time, duration, and video quality. Recordings are extremely poor quality, if they play back at all. And I can't find a way to delete a recording, aside from removing the flash drive and plugging it into my laptop.
Don't waste your money.

Good OTA Streamer, No Apps for Fire TV & Roku

Works well on iOS and Android phones & tablets. NO official apps for Amazon FireTV (box) & Roku (private). I contacted support, only given the private app for Roku, but has bugs (prompted to scan channels on start.) I have both the FireTV box & Stick; unfortunately, app shown not compatible with either. It would be a five stars, but its lacking earns 2 stars. Debating on returning it.

Seems like I have to reboot it a lot.. It's slow about loading the guide. Works better when it is on wifi and not direct plug in to the router. Over all it's ok and it works. Needs some tweaks.

Set it up without too much difficulty using my iPhone XR. Could only get a small picture in portrait orientation when I tried landscape orientation the app crashed every time. The next day I tried loading it onto my android phone. That was totally unsuccessful. It look like everything was working but it took a long time to scan for channels and nothing came up. On top of that I lost the 72 channels that were on the iPhone the day before. Now neither phone works with cordcutter . It impresses me as being a useless piece of junk.

Good picture and sound but sometimes it shows no signal.
Doubt it is a problem with antenna but since it needs rebroadcast from the router, it may be an issue of its inconsistent coupling with the router Wifi. Hope this will improves with future software update.

Changing channel is a little slow but not a big deal.
Opening program sometimes cannot find device and need to restart program again and it appears.
Reception is weak but don't know if it is problem with antenna or device and cannot get many channel but channels quite clear when received and can see in whole house.
recommend if you have good antenna signal reception

Bought this to stream over the air tv through my network to Roku, WD Live and Samsung TV. Connected it with cat5e to my network switch. It would disappear from network frequently. The tuner ability to pull in channels was not equal to the TV tuners I have used on the same antenna setup. I returned the unit and got a HDHomerun which has better reception and doesn't need constant resetting.

This item was a pain to connect to wifi. Video stream buffers way too much. My very first Hauppauge purchase. My never again.

First off, I bought one and I own one and I'm keeping it.
Having said that, I was unable to get my android phone to connect to the Cordcutter TV Box. This problem prompted me to email Hauppauge about it. I don't know if it was a problem on my end or with the box. The fellow who emailed me back seemed to think it was the fault of the box. Maybe it was, maybe not. Eventually I figured out how to connect the Cordcutter box to an ethernet cable and get the box to do a channel scan and work like it's supposed to. The box documentation says nothing about how to connect with ethernet. It's not hard, but it took me quite a while to figure it all out.
Since the Roku app is a beta, the guide is there but won't populate with stations. Hauppauge says it's a bug. Also the myTV android app shows that you can update the firmware. You cannot do that with the Roku app. Hauppauge says that's not available yet. When searchng the Google Play Store for the app, you'll need to look for Hauppauge myTV, not just myTV, or you'll never find it. Recording is not available with the Roku app yet. When you first enter the Roku myTV app, you are asked if you want to do a channel scan or not. If you've already done one, just click no and you'll go right to the main menu to watch TV. Channel scans take 2-3 minutes, not 30 minutes like the say on the documentation.
The tuner is really sensitive. Channel scans brought in ch23 in Long Island, NY a couple of times. That's 70+ miles. It works on two TVs in different rooms. Picture quality is very good. I like having myTV on my main Roku menu. I can easily switch between OTA TV and all the other apps I have on my Rokus.
The app isn't perfect and I have to connect via ethernet cable, but I'm okay with that and enjoy the Cordcutter TV box.

So I bought this a few weeks ago from BestBuy during the memorial day special. I needed TV for my apartment which I could watch on my iPhone and Roku. The connection was pretty easy and I get very good tv reception with my antenna on the window. I use it mainly to watch TV on my iPhone X, but for my business I need to start making recordings of some of the guests on TV. Overall, it does the job and I give it 5 stars.

No Qam Support Yet

I purchased this to use with my Apple TV 4K (supported device), however hauppage customer service said it does not have the QAM (cable) service supported yet anticipated to be in a week or so. It could be a great product. I do not have an antenna so I can’t comment. I did try the small antenna that comes with it but received no ATSC signals.

Easy to hook up, I had 2 tablets playing 2 different channels worked without any problems, no lag at all. The only negative is the TV Guide is slow to update. This Device makes your tablets a TV (picked up 72 channels ) not sure why I seen a lower star rating on the other review. The app is well designed, super easy to use. No subscription fees, this is why I wanted the box, all of the others had fees.
Would love to see them expand the device with its memory expansion ports. Note: they are not currently being used.

Inconsistently works if at all on Windows and NPVR

This device worked a few times streaming across my intranetwork to one or two Windows-based computers using that 3rd party software NPVR. It also worked , though inconsistently, streaming to android devices (Samsung phones, LG tablet). However, like right now, I cannot connect to it on either my windows-based computers. Also I tried to perform a recording onto a 128GB exfat USB drive connected and I guess it does not recognize it as it say no USB drive is found. In addition, I cannot even stream or search for channels again on one of the android phones. It is connected to the device via the network but it is useless. I cannot even attempt to update the firmware.
It is a struggle using this horrible device that I find it easier to use the Silicon Dust device. That device works better and more consistently even if it is not recording anything and just discovered it has no USB port. Oh well. Just bad luck for me.
Working the best of all is Slingbox devices.
To rank these media streaming devices that connect to antenna digital TV, I would say...
#1 Slingbox Slingplayer HD PRO and the 500 one
#2 Silicondust with HDHomeRun software that is compatible on both Mac and Windows
#10 Hauppauge with NPVR on Windows -- does not work at times and at times shifts the IP address , MyTV for Android... connects but cannot control it at times and now cannot even view any channels. Horrible device. Hauppauge did not think this out.

Terrible Customer Service

I activated this product an month after getting it I had it working for 1 day. Then it stopped working.
I contacted Hauppauge customer support and they kept telling me to perform the same steps to get the product into adhoc mode, then connect to WIFI. I explained multiple times I have attempted to do this.
So now I have a product that wont work. I guess I will use Amex to refund me using their extended warranty policy.
Stay away from this. Go to another firm (tablo, silicondust) to see if they support their products.
