With a poor rollout, its higher price point, and the other HBO services like NOW and GO, HBOMAX comes off as superfluous, and you can argue it is, but having nearly all of Warner Bros catalog (some not available likely due preexisting contracts) at your fingertips is great finding something for everyone; if you like classic films you have TCM, if you love Studio Ghibli (Kiki's Delivery Service being very near and dear to my heart) then it's there as well, and if you want all the DC films (no matter how controversial you think they are) they're there for you too.  Furthermore with the past HBO services being rolled into HBOMAX it makes it less redundant. In regards to PQ....it is....fine, not necessarily the best like Netflix or Amazon Prime, so they need to work on that more and should have.  And the layout, I personally like it quite a bit, granted I access it through Google Chromecast meaning that I greater control than a standard remote control, but visually it feels more akin to Netflix and Disney+ (I don't have that service, so I'm basing it off of screenshots), and the purple and black is a nice visual aesthetic, it's far more streamlined than Amazon Prime, and the Hubs are a nice addition.  However it is to mention that I have also tried it with Roku and while the layout is still very straightforward because of how recently it was added the app isn't very fluid,  something they need to fix. Should you get it?  Yes, if you are looking for another service with a vast library of films of every genre for any age, or if you're looking to replace another.  But an issue becomes the price, is it deal for what you get?  Yes, obviously, 15 dollars for hundreds of thousands of films and series is always a steal, but that price compared to its competition makes it feel like less of a deal or a harder hit to your wallet; and perhaps it feels like less of a deal because HBOMAX does not have an immediate culture explosion like "The Mandalorian," it does not have its "House of Cards" or "Stranger Things," there is high quality content such as "Raised by Wolves," but time it may/will starting with a fan supported restoration of the mired "Justice League," and furthermore with HBOMAX having HBO talent it's only a matter of time before they create the next "The Wire," "Game of Thrones" and even more recently "Watchmen"

Don't forget to cancel on time

Cool to get some free HBO for a couple weeks but with one downfall... To use this free subscription you have to provide all your info and card number so they can bill you after the 14 day period; must be cancelled before 14 days up or they bill you as a customer now even if you only wanted it free, its a headache he to deal with. If its free, it should be free no strings attached as opposed to betting on a person forgetting to cancel or won't take the time to cancel it for their benefit. If I like it, I will gladly pay for a yearly subscription. I know maybe silly but just a little gripe I have with this process. On Best Buy's end, it was shipped quick as usual with great communication as they always provide.

It's Decent, But A Bit Overpriced

I got this HBO Max free trial that came with Injustice 2 video game that I purchased. Unfortunately, the free trial only lasts for 14 days. Now as for the service itself, it has a decent variety of shows and movies, but it's not as extensive as Netflix or some other online streaming service. It does have pretty much almost all the WB shows and movies, but there are some things still missing. The great thing is I can watch all my DC superhero shows and movies onto one platform. I do have a minor nitpick with this free trial. In order to use this free subscription, you have to provide all your info and card number so they can bill you after the 14 day period. So, you got to cancel it before the 14 days are up or else they will charge you as a customer. I think the service is decent and has a vast library of movies and shows, The layout of HBO Max looks very well put together. But the price of HBO Max is a bit overpriced compared to other competitors. If they lower the price a bit more, then I think it would be worth it.

Worth trying out, more movies than Netflix

Free trial was enjoyed except I got into a show that I wasn’t able to finish in 14 days, so I’ve moved into the monthly charges. I finished that show but started another, and now they have the new Denzil movie coming in 4K. Ultimately we can justify the monthly fee if they continue to offer new movie release that are just opening in the theatre. New Godzilla versus Kong coming also in 4K. I do wish they had more shows in 4K but the picture is good and the sound is fine. Netflix has more 4K content but HBOMax has more real movies where as Netflix has more and more originals these days then actual big name movies. Also less dubbed / subtitle items where Netflix seems to have more and more items that are dubbed or subtitle these days not to mention they keep raising their prices. If HBOMax keeps up the new movies releases and keeps price the same they might just be replacing Netflix in our home. Only gave 4 stars due to the lack of 4K material at this time but 5 stars for availability.

What really piqued my interest in HBO Max was the same day access to WB movies. It has always been a value proposition for me and I found that 15 a month seemed a bit steep. Admittedly, there have always been several shows that I had really wanted to watch but now seemed like the right time to jump in. I have been really pleased with the ease of use of the app, the picture quality and the availability of ATMOS sound tracks for most recent content. HBO has always had great shows and I now I get to view them plus see some box office movies on day 1. I have only one complaint about the app. If you setup a kids account, the default is to set a pin or password. I think that there should be a pin on the adult account to keep them from accidently seeing something that was not intended for them. Just seems that the default behavior is backwards. They have a pin to log into the kids account but could just pick my account and not get prompted for anything... seems odd.

    14 day free trial!

This was included as a bundle package for purchasing Warner Brothers 4K UHD blu-ray/blu-ray combo pack. While HBOMax did offer free trial for a few months after launch, they stopped offering any free trial period shortly after announcing that all new Warner Brothers movies in 2021 will be released at the same time in theaters and on HBOMax. This 14-day trial code definitely came in handy to try out after the trial period had ended. There are a lot of great movies and TV shows on HBOMax. Knocked off 1 star for requiring to sign up with credit card so that membership would automatically rollover once the trial period had ended. Make sure to cancel renewal if you only intend to use for the trial period (canceling renewal right away upon sign up will still let you access for the 14 days).

I'm guessing the review title caught you off-guard. I got this as a promo with my 4K "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" disc with the intention of activating it for "Wonder Woman 1984". My "free trial" lasted no more than a day because HBO Max has one of the BEST back catalogs of any streaming service out there (can't really count Disney+ because Disney is its own world of programming). The interface is simple but easy to navigate. Unlike Netflix, there is a full A-Z listing for each category. The only negative I've encountered is the lack of 4K UHD and Dolby Vision/Atmos support for game consoles (I use the streaming apps on my Xbox One X), but even at 1080p HD the streaming image is good. Yes, it's one of the more expensive services out there ($15/month), but it has the content to back it up!

HBO Max: One of the Better Streaming Libraries

HBO Max is definitely worth subscribing to, especially if you are a film-buff. Besides recent releases, you have access to a plethora of classic films (personally, I've been working my way through a bunch of Charlie Chaplin shorts and features). This isn't even mentioning the bevy of quality shows HBO has produced, and other brands they have acquired. I was already a subscriber, so I didn't need to use this 14 day trial, but it is cool Best Buy included it with certain purchases. Two weeks is enough time to check out a couple of shows (depending on how many seasons it has) and/or a few movies; if you don't find much to watch you can just unsubscribe at the end of the trial. HBO Max is one of the streaming services I use most, therefore I would recommend checking it out, at the very least.

Its Free, if cancelled before up. Just remember. For this reason along with the fact that I bought it for Blade Runner 2049 anyway I did not bother using. Figured it might conflict with the longer HBO Max trial going on at the time since you " have to be a new customer for each I figured. 2 weeks did not seem worth me bothering with to cancel anyway. Seemed negligible the benefit with the holidays and all the craziness I had going on anyway. Like I said, I just wanted Blad Runner 2049 4k Blu-Ray for $5 any that was enough of a reason. This was just part of the promotion at the time that was included in my cart. Thought of giving the code away, but again it only 2 weeks, and they need to cancel before up.

This is free HBO Max subscription for 14 days enough said. If you plan to use it at right moment you might save a lot by having access to many movies that are current released at theaters and a good DC collection (series, movies). It also has some anime and quite some repository of movies and shows which no where near Netflix but still worth watching. I highly recommend to DC fans as it has whole lot of content for them. The only downfall in continuing HBO Max is it's subscription cost which does not add up with content they are adding each month but if you want to watch WB movies at home when they launch at theaters then it's the right subscription for you.

HBO Max is good out of the gate but could improve

HBO Max is an excellent up-and-coming streaming service with tens of thousands of hours of content available from classic films on the TCM hub, Cartoon Network shows, Adult Swims, plus Sesame Street, and Warner Bros' entire 2021 theatrical slate of films also available on the service for the first 30 days of their release. It was just recently made available for Fire TV devices so its initial version could use some buffering fixes, but with 4K and Dolby Atmos support coming in time for "Wonder Woman 1984"'s release on Christmas Day, I feel like that issue will be addressed as well. I have the service free with my AT&T Unlimited Data plan and its been a great source of entertainment in 2020.

Like many recent HBO Max subscribers, I wanted to watch Wonder Woman 84 on Christmas day so I signed up the day before to get everything set up and after using for a couple days, the app for ROKU could use another update. While HBO Max did not crash during Wonder Woman 84, it did crash on me a couple times watching other content. While other streaming apps have their issues, HBO Max is the only ROKU app that has crashed on me. Other than that, everything else has been great. Films and TV shows were easy to find, the UI was easy to navigate and HBO Max has one of the best catalogs of content, rivaling Disney Plus. Really happy I subscribed.

HBO has IMO always had the best original programming (Sopranos, The Wire, Game of Thrones, great Documentaries) and HBOMAX adds Turner Classic Movies for great old black & white film noir as well as a good selection of world cinema that would appeal to fans of the Criterion Channel, DC for super hero/comic book movie fans, Cartoon Network, Sesame Workshop for kids, Adult Swim, Studio Ghibli for adult animation and anime fans and a wide variety of blockbuster movies. HBO’s deal with Warner Brothers also makes their service the exclusive place for all of that Studios 2021 Premiers. The price is among the highest of any streaming service but worth it.

HBO Max is the best streaming service right now

I was very reluctant on trying yet another streaming service expecting it to be just like all the others (flooded with their own lame original content) but I am happy to say that I am glad I got to try this one out. This is the best streaming service out right now. It has a great selection of movies and great tv shows for pretty much everyone and you get in theater releases every month at NO extra cost (looking at you Disney+). Even their own originals are actually good and seem focused on quality over quantity (*cough* Netflix) This has easily become the most used streaming service in my household.

HBO MAX is probably the best streaming service out there. It provides a great catalog of movies and series that will interest everyone. From DC animated series, shows, and movies to live action ones. Adult swim, cartoon network, and studio Ghibli. As well as, Original shows and movies from the streaming service itself. Oh, and don't forget it's very own HBO Originals such as Sopranos, Game of Thrones, The Wire, Mare of East Town, Silicon Valley, Sharp Objects, True Detective, and more. Recommend it.

HBO max was great for the the trial period. However, HBO Max seems be mostly for younger kids & younger adults up to mid 35's, due to all of the kids cartoons and adult cartoons from DC. If you enjoy DC movies you will love HBO max, if you like cartoon network and TCM and regular HBO and amimia cartoons you will Love HBO-Max. However, movies that just came out to theaters will only last 1 month, meaning if you wanted to see certain movies you may have to wait until they come out on DVD or Blue-Ray, if you missed them on HBO-Max

I don't reccomend subscribing to HBO Max because the Chromecast button wouldn't work to cast the movie to my TV from my phone. I did all the troubleshooting and even used my Smart View button and tried with my computer, but still the HBO Max app didn't work. I thought there was some issue with my phone but not so because my YouTube, Tubi TV, and Starz App casted just fine with no problem. The HBO Max app would only cast the purple HBO Max homescreen, but wouldn't show the movie. Totally disappointed. Luckily it was only the free trial.
