This tv has great potential. The picture is top notch and the stats back it up. However, I was looking for an android tv to work with my existing kodi/hdhomerun/plex media servers that I am currently running on a synology 918+. Let's say that while does run the latest android tv 8 oreo operating system, it was full of bugs. Being experienced I thought initially it would be worth the hassle, but eventually gave up on purchased a Sony instead. More money but less stress. Hopefully, they will get some updates to their software and make this tv a great deal. Just lost my patience and returned it. If not looking to integrate it into a system like mine, this tv has the apps, picture quality, local dimming and options of screens costing much more. Worth the look.

I was looking for a budget 4k TV for my bedroom. My choice came down to this Hisense 55H9 Plus and the TCL 55 6 series. The TCL seemed to have many issues regarding the screen from reading many reviews. So I bought this TV instead. I went to Best Buy to take a better look at it. I really liked how thin the TV is. It looks very sleek. A Best Buy associate tried to convince me to buy an 55" LG but the Hisense had more features including better speakers and both HDR 10 and Dolby Vision HDR and android operating system and Google assistant. So I hooked it up to my DirecTV and the TV seems to hesitate switching input. My DirecTV comes on then screen goes dark then comes back on as it's trying to switch. But it's not a big deal. The picture is sharp even though I'm watching 1080p content. The TV'S upscaling engine makes 1080p look much better. I love the Android operating system and Google assistant works great. This TV isn't without its flaws though. I was kinda disappointed in the blacks. They aren't completely black. I'd say it's about 80% black. I tried making adjustments in the picture settings to try and darken those blacks but that's as dark as I could make them. Also I came to find out the TV doesn't have full array local dimming. It says it has local dimming but not many zones looks like. The rest of the picture looks great though. Great color, sharp detail, you can fine tune it to your liking. It handles fast motion great. Overall I love this TV. I can look past the minor flaws and I'm very happy with my purchase decision. I also love the remote. It's very minimalist as it has no numerical key pad but it does have a microphone. I just wish it had the home button a bit lower as it is too close to the down arrow button and I find myself accidently pressing it and exiting out to the home screen.

Fantastic picture gives a clear in depth viewing experience, great sound so no need for an additional sound bar, the USB 3.0 port is idea for local storage of 4K videos for easy and smooth playback. The TV's software could be much better though for easier access of the USB storage without having to unplug and plug back in a storage device to access. Multiple HDMI provides enough ports to not need a switch unlike some other brands. Of note changing sound feed to PCM instead of Dolby gives a better synchronization between picture and sound. Do recommend extended warranty as having a replacement shipped under warranty creates a very high risk of damage in shipping (received 2 damaged TV's from them before and purchased this to replace it).

I over research and normally stay with the top 3. But this tv had all high end specs, even the refresh rate of a $1,500-$1,800 S or S tv for $700. I was reluctant to buy an “off brand” but so glad I did. Amazing pic, sound etc., family & friends with tvs 2x the price are watching football & HD programs at my house because the pic is so good & swearing that next time they will buy a Hisense.

I love this tv it’s got great picture and sound I’ve used it everyday for the last few months watching tv and playing my PlayStation and it’s been phenomenal since I bought it, the only problems I have with it are the native Netflix app on the tv has issues sometimes playing 4K/UHD movies as it just shows a black screen and forces you to restart or skip 30 seconds ahead to get it to show you an image and even then sometimes the audio lags behind the visuals. Another issue is the fact that I can’t cast straight from my laptop to this tv as the tv doesn’t show up in my list of available casting devices. I had to use a roku stick to work around this issue as sometimes I like to stream movies not on streaming applications. My laptop does pick up the roku and lets me mirror my screen, I also think the buttons on the remote are a little over sensitive and the none designated input button (the tv button button lets you switch between 2 HDMI inputs but not all) this is a tad annoying, Other than that the tv is amazing though and I’d definitely recommend it as it’s an affordable price for the TV and features you get.

I like the tv overall. Truth be told you get much more value buying a budget branded tv than one of the big one's like Samsung, LG, or Sony. The screen has one defect. A small circular blob in the middle of the screen about 4 inches from the top. Its smaller than a dime and is only noticeable in lighter scenes like shots of the sky or someone's face. Another issue is dirty screen effect. This is only noticeable again in lighter scenes that have panning shots. The borders of the screen a slightly discolored and the corners have dark vignettes. Aside from those issues, which are a bummer, the color is excellent, the picture quality is great with Bluray, and the picture is also bright. So HDR content is good on this tv because it is a brighter display. Its not a perfect tv, but for the money, it was worth taking a chance on. I also have not seen any 4K content on it. So I'm thinking that is where the tv will really shine.

From people I have heard, the consensus is that Hisense is often overlooked and looked down on. After getting this Hisense H9E Plus, I can tell you it is a strong contender in the TV market. This H9E Plus has all of the strong essentials you look for when shopping for a TV. The full backlighting, contrast zones, HDR 10, Dolby Vision, and a strong preference of mine; Good Motion Enhancement. Most of my testing was done with the Xbox One X which outputs 4k games and movies with HDR. The movies look amazing and the games are very colorful and vibrant. A lot of work must be done in properly setting up the picture settings which I will get to in a bit. Unpacking out of the box, the tv is very well protected. The feet for the tv are in the top Styrofoam. Once taking that out, you will remove the packet that includes the mounting screws for the feet, the remote, batteries, power cord, warranty card, and quick start guide. Then you are able to pull the tv out of the box. I would recommend getting an extra pair of hands to help you. The face of the tv is protected with a soft wrap and a large piece of cardboard which is very handy with moving the tv around, and can allow you to lay the tv down with out the risk of damaging something. Installing the feet is simple, and there are 2 screws for each foot. The feet are kind of wide, so I was unable to use them on my tv stand, but I did opt for an aftermarket pedestal swivel stand to mount the tv on. It was very simple to mount. The first thing you will notice on this tv is how thin the main screen bezel is. It measures right at 5/16", which is super thin. The larger bottom part of the tv measures out an extra 1 5/16", which is still pretty thin. Once mounted and setup, the first downfall is the length of the power cord. It is around 5ft, so it can't even reach to the floor for a power strip if you are wall mounting. You will probably need an extension to go in between. Next is the remote. It is a good thing the tv is not built like the remote. It is very cheap feeling and the buttons have a weak springy feeling to them. The design is not that great, as the navigation buttons (up,down, left, right, center click) are not very defined and found trying to navigate menus in the dark somewhat challenging and frustrating because you can't quite tell where the navigation buttons end and the menu buttons begin, so you end up activating voice control or backing out of the menus on accident. Otherwise, the remote works good and the quick navigation buttons for Youtube, Netflix, Google Play, Fandango Now, Tikilive, and Sling all work great. I was only able to test with Netflix, Youtube, and Google Play, as those are the only ones I have accounts for. The voice activation works well. Setting up the tv is an easy but interesting task. I ran into a couple error screens where it would say a process was not completed, but when exiting out, it showed the process completed, like connecting to a wireless network. It would say "Can not connect to wireless network" Then immediately show the network connected after leaving the error screen. It does want you to set up a google account and some other accounts. I found it odd that mine already had a pre-existing google account already linked to the TV.. not sure why. It just requires going into the settings and removing the account and adding another one. The TV picture is amazing. But as I stated before it will take a lot of work and set up to try and achieve that look. I will provide my settings for you to use later on in the review. There are a lot of picture settings, and also sound settings. Some previous reviews I have read talked about a bad lip sync issue between audio and video when using wifi. This TV does have lip sync issues sometimes, but I found if you are running your device through a receiver first, and use that for audio, there are no lip sync issues. The most I have seen were when playing directly through the tv speakers. It does have lip sync adjustments though There have been a lot of reviews about how terrible the tv's speakers are.. Let me tell you that is incorrect. This TV uses Harmon Kardon speakers and they are located in the center of the back of the TV. They are rear firing so the sound bounces off the wall for a better sound. The volume itself goes to 100 and is generally loud enough for casual TV watching around 14-15. In the menus' the audio menu is full of options, and it even has an equalizer setting to manual adjust the bass/mid/treble levels. It is a hertz chart. You can also turn system sounds on and off, pick a specific sound mode (Standard, Theater, Sports, Concert Hall, Music, Speech, Late Night, and User Mode). The overall sound quality is amazing. No, it doesn't have earth shattering bass or anything but the sound quality is very crisp and clear. I would run an optical cable from the TV digital out to a receiver for watching Netflix or Youtube. In case of lip sync issues they have included menu options to adjust the lip sync levels so you can match them up again, which is great and works well. The tv has 4 HDMI hookups, (2 highspeed for 4k@60hz with HDR support and 2 regular for 4k@30hz with out HDR support), and also one standard Yellow, Red, White composite hookup. A digital audio out, A lan cable port, and 2 USB ports, one at .5amp and the other at 1amp. All ports are clearly marked and easy to follow what goes where. The android side of the TV runs very well over my wifi (Comcast 150mb service) and Netflix and Youtube run great. The 4k content on each streams with great quality. The android menu's are fast and responsive. Can't find any complaints with that. Onto the picture itself. The clarity is super clear when setting up correctly. The blacks are super black, and I have not seen any bleed through in the pictures. The colors are strong and vibrant and everything really pops out at you. It is amazing quality for the price of this TV. One problem though is on the Xbox One X, when I set up the tv settings, It shows everything with a checkmark except for Dolby Vision. It shows a message saying "This TV is using an older version of Dolby Vision and is not supported by Xbox" ... I'm not sure why, but apparently Hisense is using old software to claim the use of Dolby Vision, but not worth anything if a brand new TV won't respond to brand new tech. Everything else works great though Overall this TV is definitely worth it's price and then some. I highly recommend it forsomeone looking for a great TV on a budget. It is hard to be disappointed, but it still does have its flaws, which is why I only gave it a 4/5. Cons -Short power cord -Bad remote design, cheap feeling -Old Dolby Vision hardware/software not compatible with new tech -Minor lip sync issues Pros- -Dark Dark blacks -HDR 10 -Great sounding HK speakers -Lots of menu options -Contrast zones -Local Dimming -Full backlit display Now for some of the picture settings to help you out. This is my first 4k as my Samsung 48" 1080 is still running strong. Very pleased so far. It's an Android set up and that is my digital universe. Price was very good. Ended up at $700 with extended warranty. Was hesitant to go with this brand because I don't know much about them, but with plenty of research and positive remarks from some 4K tech reviewers, I made the purchase. Only real issue so far is it drops the internet connection if it is off for a while. It does reconnect after a couple of minutes by itself, as you do get a message saying it is disconnected. I don't have to manually reconnect. It doesn't interfere with the cable box so I am not without my channels. Saved several hundred $$'s for similar specs as the more popular brands.

It's works mostly. Good quality on the picture. Easy to handle. The only problem is that the built-in WiFi keeps dropping and even with the modem in the room it randomly won't be able to find it. After looking for a solution online I found it's a common problem with no real solution. If you want to use it to connect directly to use the Smart TV capabilities you're in for a struggle.

We set out to get this TV because of its beauty it portrayed on screen. The colors are amazing and sharp. We had to end up buying the display/open box because the tv was no longer in-stock at our store or any close by, and was not available for shipping. We purchased the tv and was then told that the store is out of anything to safely wraps the TV for travel. We decided to arrange that on our own. We get the tv home and put up, only to find that on the lighter screens, some of the pixels were not working properly and cast a big dark shadow. So needless to say, we had to return it. Again the picture quality is AMAING, just not on the display/open box item we purchased.

Pro: Good display Thin Dolby Vision Con: OS is extremely buggy CEC doesn’t work well Dim HDR Remote is cheap and too minimal No Amazon Prime Video **When setting this up for the first time, before setting any other apps, be sure to change the Google account linked to this TV to your own in the settings menu. For some reason, Hisense decided to pre-link the TV with one of their account.** While this TV has a great display, it also has one the most frustrating and buggy OS I’ve ever used. It’s prone to crashing, picture settings would revert back after powering down, and the CEC (HDMI Control) function doesn’t work half of the time. Doing a power reset seems to solve some of these issues, but it’s only temporary. It’s a real shame the user experience is so frustrating since the TV has great colors, decent (albeit dim) HDR, includes Dolby Vision, and has pretty good speakers. Design and Build This TV is impressively thin, with the thickest part (minus the stand) is less than 3”. The bezels are minimal and blends well with the screen. It does feel a little flimsy, but should be fine if left alone. The stand is about 9” deep and doesn’t have significant amount of wobble. Remote The remote feels cheap and is overly minimal. The main navigation buttons just blends into each other with little distinct feeling. I often press the home button when trying to press the down button. It’s missing some key buttons. There’s no number pad, making you rely on using the onscreen display. It’s also missing an Input button and the only to change input is to click the Home screen button and navigate to the option on the upper right corner. It’s just cumbersome. Why would they remove the Input button, yet have room to include a Play/Pause button that still bring up an onscreen display to play or pause? Definitely get a universal remote. Display For this price, the display is really good. The colors are vibrant and blacks are good. My unit didn’t have any edge bleed and the grays are uniform. This model also has Dolby Vision, a feature that other higher ends brands may not have. HDR is not very bright. You’ll still notice a difference, it just won’t be as stunning as other brighter sets. While gaming, I had to turn down the in game settings otherwise it looked blown out. The viewing angle is also not very good. A couple of feet for the center and the color shift is real noticeable. Sound The speakers are Harman/Kardon and can produce good sounds. It’s still feels hollow and won’t fill the room is booming bass, but it does get loud and is clear for regular TV viewing. It’s better to get a sound bar. Function and Smart Features Extremely frustrating. I have a Sony Android TV and it works well. This version of Android TV, however, is so buggy that even basic functions doesn’t work properly. It either crashes or requires me to unplug and reset it. I’m going to list the common problems I’ve had with it in the five days that I’ve had it. -Picture settings will not stay as you set them. Even though the settings say it’s the same, the color mode and motion enhancement are obviously changed. I have to change the mode and change it back. This will happens every time I powered it on until I do a power reset. This was also mentioned in the review from rtings.com -CEC (HDMI Control) usually doesn’t work properly. Sometimes it’ll turn on my Sony sound bar right away, other times it takes a while or just won’t at all. When it does, it takes a bit before it stopped switching modes and is useable. I gave up and turned it off. Luckily I can use my Logitech Harmony to control everything. -Going in the settings menu can crash the TV. -Apps can have issues or crash. Netflix would sometimes have a black screen when playing Dolby Vision content and required a power reset to fix. YoutubeTV (not Youtube) stutters every few seconds. I don’t have issues like these on any other devices (Sony and Sharp TV, Roku, or mobile devices). -Arranging apps on the Home screen doesn’t work. It’ll bring up the UI but doesn’t do anything when you click it or is so laggy that it’ll move once after a dozen clicks. As for the other smart features, they are numerous apps on the Google Store, but strangely is missing Amazon Prime Video. You can also link it to Alexa, but it requires you to make a Hisense account so I didn’t bother. The further I can stay away from using the OS, the better. I can overlook the CEC and apps issue because I have a Roku and a Harmony remote, but the picture setting issue is big concern if it keeps happening.

Got this television based on the specs and prior hisense experience. After installation and setup, was amazed by the picture quality. This has to be one of the best bangs for the buck! But it was short lived. One night I turned the television off, only to still hear audio coming out of the speakers. No worries, I thought, I'll just hit the power again, turn it back on, then off. No joy. I wound up having to unplug the TV. Hoping this was a one-off, I continued on. But one morning, the TV refused to power up. I unplugged the cord for some time and plugged it back in. That did the trick and it powered up. Things continued to get worse. I made the mistake of letting the screen saver start up. I could not exit from screen save mode. Unplug the power. Back to normal. Finally, while watching, I wanted to make some picture adjustments, but no response from the remote. Thinking it was batteries, I tried one of my other universal remotes without luck. Guess what? Unplug and replug the power cord. Then the TV responded to the remote again. The problems went from happening once in a while to every other day. That's when I decided to pull the plug finally and get a different set.

This was a clearance item, 2018 model I believe. It was 40% off original retail price! Industry reviews were pretty good for this TV. I like the Android operating system. Picture, sound, menu, refresh and upscaling are good. No need for sound bar. It is a little glitchy when switching from cable to streaming, but it may be a low cable signal for cause. I am happy with purchase, purchased Geek Squad protection also.

Hadn't heard about Hisense - one of the Best Buy sales people really talked it up to me. Was actually very interested in the Vizio P55-F1 (2018 model). At the BB rep's recommendation and against my gut I went with the Hisense. The display was definitely not as bright as I expected and the crispness was not there as I had hoped. Tried it with 4K Blueray, Amazon Fire 4K, and basic cable and regular Apple TV. I was not satisfied. Then the RTings.com review came out and they gave is an OK rating - not great or superb (other than the sound - which is actually as good as they say it is). Ultimately I took it back to Best Buy and exchanged it for the Vizio P55 F1 - and am much happier with the display (however 2 of the Vizio's HDMI ports are not working - however, Vizio's tech support seems amazing - they answered my call after not too long a hold time and they are sending out a technician at their cost to repair the TV in my home - within 4 days - I'm impressed by that - especially when I'd read that Vizio's tech support was not the best - I'd say that Vizio's tech support is excellent. Hope my experiences help you make the right decision.
