Excellent Budget TV, mediore smart functionality

This is a surprisingly great 4K UHD TV set. If you are on a budget and want a large screen size, I highly recommend considering this model. I generally stray away from TVs that are not from top brands, but my thinking has now changed. This set excels where it matters most, picture quality, colors, and brightness. It requires significant improvement in smart functionality. The sound can get loud, but the quality is poor. Pair this TV with a Soundbar or a proper surround system and you are good to go. Set up is quick and easy. This is a heavier set (which is a good thing generally), but not necessarily more-so than higher-end models. Very thin with enough inputs and sound outputs.
Pros:
Picture Quality
Colors
Brightness
Set-up
Cons:
Blacks/Greys/Dark Scenes
Sound
Smart features
Basic remote
Bright edges
Picture/Colors: The picture quality on this set is at least comparable to top-brand entry-level models, if not better. The picture modes do a great job of adjusting to a wide variety of viewing preferences, without needing the technical knowledge of advanced adjustment. For the more experienced viewer, there are enough settings in the advanced menu to get you close to exactly what you want. For standard cable viewing I used the Normal mode, Theater for HDMI devices, and gaming for gaming. I was actually pleasantly surprised that each mode seemed to be good enough right out the box. ECO mode was just not good in my opinion. Compared to two other 4K TVs (entry and mid-level), I was very content with the 4K quality on this model. Unbelievable detail was present on true 4K videos. Planet Earth was truly unbelievable and reflected the natural colors. Reds were not too orange or yellows. Purples did not blend in to blues. Bright white looked natural, not like an LED bulb or bright light. I did a side-by-side with two 1080p sets and the difference was vast. The quality and detail was unmatched and you could clearly see the colors were significantly more natural. The picture was balanced, colors did not overpower each other and more-so complemented each other. Very impressive. It is important to note that you can clearly see the brighter edges during solid color transitions, which is a common low-end model problem. Surprisingly, this has not been apparent during normal viewing (so far).
Dark Scenes: Very mediocre, if not poor blacks and greys. A common problem, only conquered by few models that are generally high-end. However, there are definitely entry-level models that do much better than this. Dark scenes are quite washed out and colors blend in to one anther. If you're watching Resident Evil, you're going to be disappointed. However, as a budget TV I'm not too surprised.
Gaming: Had a great time playing Call of Duty MW4 Remastered and GTAV. Did not experience much motion blur, if at all. The colors were just as good when watching TV and 4K videos. Input lag was minimal, did not really notice a big change in my gaming performance when switching to this TV. On GTA it was more vivid and a lot more fun having a bigger, higher quality screen to play on. It must be noted that the PS4 does not output 4K, only the PS4 Pro does which I currently do not have. The TV has built-in upscaling which may have contributed to improved quality.
Sports: The Olympics looked great on this TV. There was noticeable motion blur at times but infrequent. When football season is back, I'm sure this TV will perform great.
Sound: As mentioned earlier this TV gets very loud, but the quality is poor. The sound quickly distorts at medium level sound. Bass is non-existent. There is no balance in the sound field. I hooked it up to my soundbar through the optical port and boom, problem solved. One annoying problem that I haven't solved is sound control. Even with the TV sound set to off, the volume bar pops up when I control the sound (using the TV remote). Small nuisance but important to note.
Remote: Super basic, nothing like the voice remotes on entry-level TVs of big name-brands. I really like the incorporation of 4 quick start buttons (Netflix, Amazon, Vudu, and I think hulu). Backlight would have been nice since it is a full function remote.
Smart Functions: To start positive, this TV has a fast response. It is not terribly slow or buggy, which I was expecting. Not as fast as more expensive TVs, but fast enough and most importantly, responsive. That said, the functionality and design is poor. Once in the full app center, it is difficult to navigate and find what you are looking for. Good luck searching for an app you want to download. It is also extremely limited in its app suite compared to Samsung, LG, etc. You are definitely going to want a separate smart device like Amazon, Apple, Roku, etc. This is a big problem because you're gonna want the 4K versions of those devices since this is a 4K tv and that adds unnecessary cost in my opinion. Hisense really needs to improve upon this. I still have no clue how to access the web browser directly. The browser is also quite slow and difficult to use at times. The native YouTube and Netflix apps (others as well) can inherently stream 4K, which is good. Overall, a big miss on this tv.
To sum up, this is a great budget TV. You're not going to get a TV this size with this quality at this price. If you're trying to build up a nice set-up piece by piece and as your budget grows, I'd consider this set. TVs always get better, so this will keep you happy as you grow other peripherals like 4K streaming devices and a home theater.

I bought three of these TVs. I have them mounted side-by-side in my living room.
They look great. I also bought Apple TVs for each one.
The plan is to have them on the same channel or separate channels.
I still have to do some installing and purchase some more components. The goal is to make my living room like a mini Worship Center for Home Bible studies. Or, to have men’s groups with one or three sporting events. Or, to sit at home and use my computer on one TV while watching programming on the other TVs.
It is a work in process with the 60” TVs as an important part of the project.

First and foremost, this isn't a high end TV. However, this does everything you expect it to do for such a great price. Netflix works flawlessly over the Wi-Fi. Set up is a breeze. Picture is fine for what it is. I did notice that HDR makes Netflix shows look very dark. Too dark I must say. And to fix this, turn off Netflix and go to settings and turn the HDR setting to low. Done!
Blu Rays and Ultra Blu Rays look very good. After adjusting the picture settings a bit, I'm smiling at the almost steal of a deal we get here. 4k, 60 inch, all the ports you want(audio out on this thing? Score!, good Wi-Fi receiver, and actually gets pretty darn loud.
For the price, you just can't beat it.
Bought for my mom for Xmas and I couldn't resist opening it up for her and setting it up. She's hooked.
We've had it set up for a week already and have zero complaints.
Great deal. May pick up another for my own living room.

In testing out the Hisense 4k Ultra HD TV, I was blown away by one feature: the sound. This is the best sounding big screen tv I've ever had. It is loud and clear on its own; no need for a soundbar. It's got simulated surround sound and several sound modes to tune it to go with what you're watching or your own preferences.
I wish I could say the same about the picture but I can't. Don't get me wrong; the picture isn't bad, it's just not one of the best I've seen. Graphics look amazing like you would expect from a 4k tv, but fast moving images aren't optimal and the preset color/contrast settings aren't great. With some manual adjustments, I was able to improve the picture some, but it still isn't perfect.
The form factor is pleasant. There is a small black bezel around the outside and two slim legs to stand on. The 60 inch screen is massive while being less than three inches deep at its fullest.
The tv comes with four apps built-in and are accessible with a push of the button on the remote. I don't see anywhere to add more apps though, which would be a nice addition.
One more downside is that there is no microphone on the remote control, so you have to do anything that needs typing by using the arrow keys on the remote, which can get tedious.
Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this tv. There are better, more expensive ones out there, but if those are beyond your means then this one is a good alternative.

My family and I were very, very excited to get this TV! This Smart TV connects to the internet, as well as many other devices at home. Everything to do with setting it up was fairly simple, and it only required one wire to turn on the TV. Moreover, the resolution on the screen is great, and the image is very well sharpened; The screen is wide, making the living room seem bigger. Also, the sound is loud and clear. If you can’t locate the remote control, don’t panic because on the TV there are all the buttons needed to control the TV, including a scroll-wheel. The TV comes with a variety of features and 27 pre-installed apps, including our family favorite’s: Vudu, Netflix, and Youtube (These apps along with Amazon are on the remote for immediate access). It also has Game Center, Dailymotion, and Pandora. Although we have not tried it yet, you can also download other apps you wish to have. Therefore, one can not only watch movies and shows on this television, but can also play and download different games and apps, and stream and access music online!
The settings I used: Sports mode, brightness 47, contrast 53, Color 53, dynamic backlight off, aspect auto, eco sensor off, noise off, adaptive off, sharpness 10, ultra smooth standard, and back light 100. For our type of room lighting condition and the type of movies we watch, this is the best setting for my family. You have to adjust the setting to get the images that are best for you. The key is playing with the setting.
Considerably, this is a good investment for as you can do many things with it; it has a ton of bells and whistles at a great price. Overall, we are very satisfied with the product.

This TV replaced a non-smart LED 55” TV in our home. I was excited about the 4K and the Smart Features. This is my first experience with the Hisense brand.
The TV is (obviously) quite large, so you will need help carrying it in and installing it.
The first obstacle that I ran into is that it doesn’t work with the existing mount I had for my previous TV. I had to install the legs and set it on the TV stand. So far, it seems stable. However, with children in the home, I would have preferred to mount it to lessen the likelihood of damage.
Setup is easy and self-explanatory. I had to try several video and audio settings to get the initial setup I wanted.
The picture is underwhelming for what I expected a 4K TV. It could be because I have a standard HD cable box, but I keep having to reset the visual settings per the program I am watching. There’s not a way to “auto” set the picture based on the program. This is the first TV that I’ve owned where that’s been an issue. On my other TVs, I usually find one setting I like the best and go with that. You can “auto” set the aspect ratio. The thing is, it puts letter boxes on a channel that I thought was HD on my previous TV. Standard definition programs look grainy and dark to me, but this may be inherent of the 4K technology, not the TV itself.
The sound was very tinny at first (I got used to it after a while). If the depth and richness of sound is important to you, you may want to look at using this with a soundbar. The hookups are all on the side of the TV (except the RCA) so it’s very easy to plug in your optical cable, streaming device, etc.
I’m a big car racing fan, so my ultimate test was to use the TV to watch the Daytona 500. I was happy overall with the TV’s performance during the broadcast, at least during the sunny part of the race. The graphics were good, the sound was decent, the colors of the cars were bright. However, once the race descended into darkness, the images seemed grainier and a little dark. The Sports setting and the Standard setting for visuals were very close to each other so there was no improvement there. Graphics continued to look great.
The biggest frustration that I have are the apps. This is supposed to be a “Smart” TV. It has popular apps like Vudu, Netflix, Amazon Video, and YouTube. There are even dedicated buttons on the remote for these apps. However, what I would have liked is the ability to add apps, like my cable provider’s app, apps like Movies Anywhere, as well as dedicated apps such as HBOGo. This unit does not do that.
What it does have are a lot of apps that I’ve never heard of and will most likely never use. It seems like a waste of a great feature.
Overall, I think this is a good TV for the price point, but it could be tweaked a bit to make it a great TV.

Hisense picture quality is so clear and crisp! The colors are bright and everything you would expect from an ultra DH TV. It is amazing in real life! The set up from start to finish is very easy. You will also have to enter your wifi info because this bad boy got built in apps like Netflix, Youtube and much more. On the remote, you can just actually press the youtube or Netflix button and it will take you right to it. So cool! As much as I watch Youtube and Netflix, this comes in handy. This TV will also stream photos and videos from your iPhone. I find that really cool! This TV is thin, not too heavy and built really well! It does so much more and we love that it’s Alexa compatible as well. We still need to set that up but we are in no hurry, we can use the remote for now. Such a great TV for a great price! I highly recommend it.

The tv is big, it has the capacity for hdr BUT there are not very many tv shows that play on hdr. Pretty much everything is broadcasted standard so its kind of pointless. Also since its so big all regular tv shows look bleh, kind of pixelated or something like that I don't know how to describe it but basically the smaller tv we have (Insignia) looks better. We have called customer service it seems some kind of software update is needed. They're supposed to call back I'll update the review then. So far though, we are thinking of returning it.

Hi Mita! Currently, HDR content is only available on streaming applications such as Netflix and YouTube. This TV supports 4K cable TV devices such as DirecTV Genie. However, TV's can only display pictures in the resolution of the input source. So please make sure that you have access to 4K programing cable contents. If you compare a regular TV show with a 4K video on YouTube, you will see the difference in resolution and brightness. Please direct message us on Hisense USA Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/hisenseusa/) with your contact info so we can better assist you on this issue. Make sure you include the review when you message us. Thank you!

I will say i am pretty impressed with this t.v. for the price. Unfortunately the picture is kind of dull and there's not much you can do about it. I have an older 2014 model 55" Vizio that has a much more detailed picture, with much brighter colors (blacks and whites especially) and mind you the Vizio is not a 4k but did cost about 3x more, so always remember you get what you pay for but for the price it's a heck of a deal!

I bought this TV right before the super bowl because of it's price. It is an upgrade from my old 40" flat screen. The screen is much bigger it is and the picture is crisp. It comes with a full remote and is easy to use.
The only downside to this TV is that it has limited apps and the list does not include Hulu. Also the colors seem a bit off while playing video games but this is not a deal breaker.

I managed to snag one of these for my dad at $499 including delivery. I expected a good TV, but not great for this price. Its performance blew both of us away given the price point! Excellent colors and contrast. Dark images/scenes are very good. This compares well with equivalent-spec Sony and LG TVs, which are hundreds more. Picked up the 5 year Geek Squad coverage as well, and all came in below $600 for a TV that just a couple of years ago was triple the price. Highly recommended.
